Now that I have your attention... lol

No really. I have problem with installing WordPerfect Productivity Pack v11 on an XP SP2 box. The workstation has XP Office, Skype, Adobe Illistrator, Pagemaker, and others. All the software seems to be stable. When installed WordPerfect (the word processor) has a problem after a coupld of days. Then it hangs or crashes unexpectedly.

Now it crashes moments after opening an existing file and trying to edit the header/footer margin. One click, two clicks, drag the margins and, Bang. Hourglass. Gone. Sometimes you get the classic messages, An application has unexpectedly quite, Send / Dont send, etc.. This has happened on multiple machines.

The hardware is new Dell, P4, 1GB, ATI Radeon X300, networked, multiple printers. I've already updated everything, including video drivers. Tried removing all Corel reg. keys between remove and reinstalls, turned off Norton AP AV, adjusted video settings/acceleration, different printers, checked event logs, watched processes in Task Manager. blah, blah, blah. Nothings seems to help.

Anyone have some insight to this problem? Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks. Tim

    Tim,
Unfortunately when Windows XP was ready for release the Development kit was delayed in its entirety until weeks before the release. This put software developers in a quandary and they scrambled to get their software compliant. Corel refused to play that game and went to press with version 11 with out the WinXP Development kit. You are not alone in struggling to use it. Code Weavers has over 200 users of WordPerfect 11 who have the same issue.

Ditch the software and buy new or just use MS Office.
    Best of luck,
    Scott

Thanks for the reply. We have discovered with testing that the software also fails under Win2000. So, it's not an OS specific thing (or so it seems). I am begining to think it is something else. Like timed software gone out of date. Or, an install package that needs to be authenticated or verified. If we create a new document, it seems to work for hours without hanging. But, open a document created on a different version and Bang. Crash.

As for other office packages, sometimes you gotta go with the preference used by others as well. There are a variety of packages out there. Some free. Some peculiar. All meet different needs. Today it's Wordperfect11.
