Thu, October 16, 2008 - 5:33 AMThe steampunk treehouse is actively shopped around for a permanent 'installation' . AKA a buyer so it sits in someones (or companies yard).
A lot of artists sell off their pieces after the burn to benefactors. it's one way to cover your expenses, cuz everyone at burningman thinks everything is free and therefore it must cost nothing to produce. not to mention the devaluing of the artists production time.

Re: Basura Sagrada Steel Sculpture For Sale
Thu, October 16, 2008 - 6:56 AMI understand now. I work for an outfit full of engineers and I am aware of the costs of materials and how those costs rise. At one point a couple of years ago, cost for materials like steel and concrete went up 1% a month. It is hard to calculate estimates a year or two out in that type of situation. Unless artists acquire their materials by recycling, they have to buy it somewhere.
We used over $2,000 worth of wood to construct out temporary structure so I am aware that not everything is free. -
