Has anyone here ever made home-made paper? I was curious if anyone knows how to grind up old cotton clothing i.e. jeans, shirts to make pulp for paper.

I have worked with cotton linter and such. Your best bet is to use dryer lint. But if you insist on using actual cloth, you will most likely need lye. It is a nasty messy process.
I actually took a class on this in college before it was cool.
I know you use lye with tree bark. Thing is, it has to be eaten beyond recognition and then rinsed and rinsed and rinsed again and again to get what you want. Hope that helps.
Me? If I were to do it again? I would stay with the dryer lint. :)

I saved dryer lint for years and had some pretty incredible looking lint. I ended up throwing it out because I was never quite sure what to do with it. Still, the experience helped to make me quite the lint fan.

You need to put the lint into a blender. Just a bit of it. Then mix with water and blend it all you can. Then, when it is good and mushy, throw it into a big vat of water. Mix it up ..then take a screen, run it through and catch it on the screen. Then, you find some old blanket, turn your screen over and sqeeze the water out and leave on the blanket till it drys. hope that helps
If not..let me know. It is very cool. you can do layers with dried flowers in them...you can type on them..you can iron them flat...very cool...let me know if that helps
