Some of you may have heard that a group called Telefon Tel Aviv will shortly be releasing a compilation CD of their remix work, which includes a mix of Even Deeper, which was originally slated to appear on the soundtrack to New Port South. If you have NOT heard about it, you can find the CD here:

By means that I will refrain from divulging, I've already heard the remix (as well as the rest of the album) and I have to say that unless you're an obsessive completest, you probably don't need to buy this CD. Actually I'm an obsessive completest and I still don't plan to buy this CD. (Though i'll still put it on my amazon wishlist in case anyone else wants to buy it for me. hehe)

The remix itself, in my opinion, sounds nothing remotely like the original. Now I know that the point of a remix is to create something different, but this is so different that I would not have known it was a remix of Even Deeper if it weren't for the fact that I knew it ahead of time. The lyrics are cut out completely, so you don't even have Trent's vocals to look forward to. Now that's not to say that the music is bad. It's definitely very nice ambient background music for listening while working or doing other tasks. I listed to the whole album twice through while playing Guild Wars last night and it was quite lovely, but don't expect to hear NIN buried anywhere in there.

I've never heard any of the originals of the other songs on the CD, but they seem to have pretty much all gotten the same treatment. Little to no vocals, and all the tracks make very lovely ambient music, but nothing that you could rock out to.
