Just wanted to give everybody a heads up on a smaller homegrown headie festival. I don’t know if any of you heard of the Joshua Tree Music Festival in Cali…but the same fella has put together another festival- Check out their myspace page. At any rate, I’m pretty stoked to be going for the 1st time.

2nd Annual Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival
October 20 & 21, 2007

The 2nd annual Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival is happening October 20 and 21 at the Joshua Tree Lake Campground, in the shadows of the infamous National Park. This rootsicana newgrassy folkadelic experience is for music loving souls of all ages. The music is continuous, alternating on two stages in one bowl, creating an intimate festival experience. Temperatures in the magical Mojave desert in October are ideal!

The festival lineup includes The Avett Brothers, Hot Buttered Rum, Uncle Earl, The Greencards, Dan Bern, South Austin Jug Band, Jake Shimabukuro, Martha Scanlan, Merle Jagger & Tim Easton, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, the Everybodyfields, Bluehouse, Honky Tonk Train, and the Trespassers.

Plenty of on site camping. Children of all ages are welcome. The festival village includes Organic Foods, World Market, KidsVille, Art Installations, the Love Train, daily parades and more. The music begins at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, and goes til late. On Sunday, music goes from 10:30 a.m. til sunset. Dance under the stars and howl at the moon in this awe-inspiring high desert environ!

2 of my rides fell through [again!!] and i *just* finally saved up enough to get a ticket and have plenty of $ for gas. i'll be grateful to you forever and bring enough fruits/veggies/heady food to last the whole trip!!

Hey eveybody out there!!!! I hope you are getting excited about 10k Lakes!!!!! I just rented a minivan from the Minneapolis/St.Paul airport and there is plenty of room! So if you need a ride there and/or back please contact me and we can see if we can help each other out...isn't that what phamilies are for?

Music Only Passes?

My friend was interested in getting a Music only pass to the festival...anyone familiar with these. We were wondering if they allow people with those passes to enter the campsites at all or is there a special camping wristband he would have to have? Hey all out there in festival world! I need some advice from parents that attend 10klf. I have an awesome two year old that I was planning on bringing to 10klf (I take her everywhere) but now "Nana" has offered to watch the babe while mama goes and plays. I really like taking the kid with me to awesome events like this (she did great at Smilefest this past week), but I was checking out the website photo album and only saw two kids in 100 pics. I would appreciate any info on how the scene is for the little ones. Thanks!

i can not wait for this festival. Me and my husband have to really be picky, because we can only choose one big trip a year, since our son was born last summer. When we saw the lineup to 10klf, well we just couldn't pass it up, you know!! we've been saving money for months, and are going to fly out on the 18th!! i've never acutally gotten on a plane to go and camp somewhere before, pretty funny.
