This is a short vid, the first one anyway,of a decomissioned US destroyer . I dunno which one- I think the David R Ray. Anyways it is a sister ship ( same class) of ship I was on in the Navy, that's why this is kinds freaky for me. Notice how the ship is lifted up from the blast, keel broken when the wieght of the ship settles on the empty space created by the explosion. The torpedo does not actually hit the ship, but detonates under the keel.

The days when subs sat back and fired 3 or 4 torpedoes and hoped one of them hit, hoped that maybe a full salvo would sink a ship,
are OVER, lol. A hit by a Mk 48 is certain doom for a ship, and anyone would be lucky to even get off a ship hit by one. You are just fucked if one of these starts homing on you. your only chance would be perhaps to outrun it, hoping it would run out of fuel before it hit, or perhaps the lame chance of effective countermeasures.
There's a button on the sonar, A/N SQS 53-c, torpedo alert, that gets everyone freaking out right away. I got to push it a couple times in drills. Lol, clusterfuck, AYE!
