they did the same sort of thing in chicago. years of protesting, and a shiny new wal-mart where the protests once were.
daly was anti for a looong time, but eventually wal-mart won. hopefully l.a.'s mayor will fight a bigger right.

who will stop wal-mart? who?!

    the way i read it, it's some sort of ploy from the guy who owns the land to get a lot of money from the city for it

      well, the city is trying to buy back the land i believe so that people can keep gardening there. at a stand-still.

        yeah, buy back land the guy bought for 5 million, that he now wants 13 million for. it's all a scam

          I suppose it depends when the guy bought it, as southern California real estate prices are absolutely out of control nowadays.

          My sister paid over half-a-million dollars for a fairly small condo without much parking two or three years ago, then spent the rest of the million refurbishing it.
