So who's eating what pills?

And are they working?

It's been quiet in here lately, just wondering what everyone is doing for their migraines.

I'm really happy with my cheapo, old-school Fioricet/Fiorinal with codeine (butalbital, caffeine, codeine, APAP) + usually some Phenergan (anti-nausea). I was in a study at the Clinical Research Center recently, and they gave me some more Relpax, which I LOVE.

Apparently, the triptan family is good to me.

They also gave me some Zomig to try (took one this morning about 30 minutes ago, it's sort of working so far), and 2 doses of injectable Imitrex, which I'm really scared to try. (There's a thread in here talking about Imitrex side effects, and they're scary like whoa!)

My doc gave me some stuff called Ultram, and it's just awful. Made me sick, and dizzy, and did nothing for my pain. Plus, it's apparently highly addictive, and easy to OD on.
I asked him for Fiorinal (It's the shit!), but he said it wouldn't go well with my crazy pills...

    Heather,
the worst part of the auto ijectable is the injection its self. it makes a lot of noise but once on board it does the job fairly quickly. I take imitrex pills, 100 mg, when I need to. I get some side effects--tingling face, wierd feeling throat and joints, etc, but its far better than a migraine! I am not sure what the differences are between imitrex, zomig, and relpax--I've taken them all tho and would take any of them again!
Oddly phenergan seems to make me nauseous . . . not always, but sometimes when they insist I need it even tho I haven't had nausea I then start puking. nothing worse than puking with a migraine. ok, well there are worse things but not at hte moment!

I also take nortryptilene and atenelol (sp?) daily as prevention measures. sometimes vicodin when I try to avoid the walk in or er . . .

This week has been long and painful since my dental appointment and all those wierd mouth positions and stress. I have to go back for a filling and I am getting gassed--hopefully that will help. I've never tried it before.

I'm still taking Imitrex 100mg. I used to take 50mg, but that stopped working. Sometimes I have to dose myself twice. :(
Since quitting my old toxic job and getting a new one the headaches have become less frequent. Maybe 4 a month instead of 9 to 12 !!!
I also joined a gym which really seems to help when I can get up there regularly. My life is crazy now, teaching 5 dance classes a week in the evening as well as working fulltime. Maybe that's got something to do with it?
    :)
Glad to see some people chatting on this tribe again.
    ~Z.
