I have always had a hard time with sleep. I need sleep aides to get a really good night's rest. Have you ever heard of Saturn limiting sleep if it's in the 12th? Also, anything you can tell me about saturn in 12th? Could this mean past karmic ties w/dad?

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Sat, September 15, 2007 - 8:25 PMI cannot tell you too much about Saturn in the 12th,other than, I have it too. And I have dealt with insomnia for many many years. Restless Leg Syndrome here as well. But that may my Gemini moon in the first or my Virgo sun in the 4th.
I analyze everything and then worry about it!!
Interesting about the karmic ties with dad. I am very close with my father. Hmmm........ -

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 10:12 AMYeah, ironically enough, I've got Saturn in the 12th, Gemini moon (in 4th) and Virgo sun (in 7th). My Mercury and Venus are also in Virgo, in my 7th house too. I've had sleep problems since I can remember...I get maybe 4 hours of sleep and run all day on it, come home exhausted, but can still only get that much sleep, no matter how tired I am.
Hm. I'm not close with mine. My Saturn is in Capricorn, retrograde. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Sat, September 15, 2007 - 8:54 PMI have saturn on the 12th house cusp --as I get older I've not been sleeping as deeply or for as many hours as I used to, but I never have any trouble falling asleep when I want to. However, I also have Neptune in 12 :) -

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Mon, September 17, 2007 - 4:35 AMAre you sure grandpa isn't napping in his easy chair ?
LOL! just kidding ...I sleep less now but I tend to nap in the late afternoon which I never used to do.
I don't have the saturn in the twelth house but rather being a parent and I used to work in Home health.
So is the theory that 12th house saturn is about restriction of sleep due to neptune ruling the house?
I would tend to wonder what house Neptune is in for all you Saturn 12th house sleepless folks.

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Tue, September 18, 2007 - 12:53 PMMy Neptune is in Scorpio/6th house. Which opposes my Taurus Saturn in the 12th.
I've read strange things about Saturn-Nept opposition, but I don't recall insomnia being one of them!

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Mon, September 24, 2007 - 8:08 PMNeptune was in Scorpio from- summer of 1957 through summer of 1971..14 years, give or take. Though it goes retro allot, and was back and forth on both Scorpio & Sag cusp's...
Saturn the Nag...
" did you forget to.......today" I could see this involving tension, or ingrained anxiety when trying to sleep…
The opposition- One possibility
(beginner here)
During your daily life, and all the things you do, “Taking care of business”, you might not notice allot of missed things, and just trust that things will work out. But when you settle down to sleep, you subconsciously review you day and see the things you missed. And old Saturn starts nagging you about these things…
Does this seem right to you??
If so, a suggestion might be to: before bed, grab a note pad, and review your day, “Did I forget to do anything”..notice something important. Make a note for yourself and make sure the next day you take care of it…Even when waking if something comes to mind,
See if this works… -

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Mon, September 24, 2007 - 9:27 PMThat sure seems right to me. i do take notes, lol. but if the day is clear, then the endless tunnel of metaphysical meanderings sets in, and unforturnately, the larger the list there, the larger the list! But you are right, that will eliminate alot of daily stress, thanks for that reminder. -

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Thu, October 4, 2007 - 7:13 AMHmm.. I have both saturn and uranus in my 12th in sagittarius... which seems to be an interesting combo :). Sleeping is definitely not as easy for me as for most people. I can't sleep in cars, boats, trains or planes... I'm also completely unable to take naps during the day or otherwise sleep at odd times.
As long as I have a regular sleeping schedule however, I've got no problems falling asleep. I do sleep very deep however, and I nearly never remember my dreams (I have this dream diary and I only write something in there about once a month or something).
I don't know about the karmic ties with dad, though... -

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Thu, October 4, 2007 - 7:57 AMmy saturn and neptune placements in the 12th (in libra) may be partly accountable for my nearly opposite experience (and one of my favorite slogans) that "any time can be nap time!"

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Mon, October 15, 2007 - 9:18 PMi have Saturn in 12th, too.
i am totally a nocturne, and a willing "insomniac" (i'd walk around the house living the night as if it were day, and won't bother to go to bed because i hate to just stay in one place doing nothing for a long period of time)... i can stay awake for 48 hours straight although i'd be dead tired by then... but then i'd get such deep sleep after that... but it's not really healthy, is it?
but then if i go to bed i generally can go to sleep fairly quickly and sleep is disrupted. but these days i am getting addicted to Bath and Body Works' aromatherapy sleep-inducing pillow mist...
of course, other factors are to be considered, like... Scorpio rising (moderation out of the equation), Venus sq. Jupiter (over-indulgence in whatever i was doing), Saturn conj Pluto (can continue job and hold on to the end despite difficulties like need for sleep)... also, i've read somewhere that Cancers (my Sun tribe) are nocturnes...

Saturn in 12th house:

not meaning to scare anybody, but Sylvia Plath the suicidal poet had that placement, too. (She died during her SR.)
she also had sun-square-saturn (like me... i also have Cap moon. and was born on a Saturday.
oh Saturn, my father!!! please don't kill me when you return for me...)
Depression had almost been constant, it was very serious in my late adolescence; but I was able to hang on and now I wouldn't change my history for any sunshiny thing... I know some things that always-been-happy people could not get. for one thing, i know my own strength. yay.....

In psychology, chronic sleep problems usually indicate psychological issues, depression being the usual verdict. -

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Sun, October 21, 2007 - 3:01 PMHey toink...
as I posted earlier, I'm not an easy sleeper. Like you, I consider myself a nocturnal creature. I enjoy the quiet solitude of the night. My thinking seems to be both clearer and more associative during the night. I also tend to get very scared sometimes though.. in some weird way expecting paranormal phenomenae to occur - which has never happened.
This conflicts with my need for sleep however - moreso since the rest of the world agrees the morning is actually good for making appointment, going to college etc etc :P - if I sleep less then about 8 hours, I tend to be moody/irritable (especially in the first half of the day), have headaches and my concentration is much impaired.
I'm curious to know how this is for you... and for other saturn 12ths: do you need *much* sleep? does sleeping less then you want/should change your 'performance' during the day?
regarding the sylvia plath comment - getting scared ourselves seems to be much-enjoyed among us saturn 12ths ^_^ -

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Sun, October 21, 2007 - 11:17 PMre: enjoying getting scared... haha, partially true -> that's as far as my admission goes. which may not necessarily mean i know the whole truth about myself...
i just... enjoy the night and i seem to function better at night.
i could also blame my strange eating and sleeping habits on my first-house Uranus, but if 12th-house Saturn contributes to that....
i don't mind staying up at night, though. if i had my way, i would get a night shift. and sleep during the day. it would be fun. i just don't understand why some people can NOT accept it... if they didn't think this is wrong, would we doubt our sanity?
to be honest, my concentration has been perpetually impaired haha. i seem to have ADD, or maybe my brain is just overstimulated. i can't hear what people say because when i hear something, ohhh, how my mind quickly comes up with associations and i couldn't stop...
i haven't been sleeping "properly" for more than a decade, so i cannot compare my insomniac performance against normal-sleep performance... -

i swear i could have written that .. all my life i have been oh so productive at night.. i rise when others sleep.. at least my spirit does.. i like to create at night .. i did for years work night shifts only to change for higher education.. i would have preferred though that the whole world adjust around me.. but it just doesnt work that way.

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Sat, January 26, 2008 - 7:47 AMi have suffered my whole life from a different sort of sleep problem---finding it HAAARD to wake up---real hard(tho i fall asleep very easily---in fact i can get heavy-lidded sleepy like i must pull off the road to sleep or else--after 20 minutes of driving! nope--do not have narcolepsy--was tested for it. i have gemini on 12th cusp, ruled by mercury in 4th h libra. my saturn's in 8th--so maybe saturn's not the only culprit here.

Re: Saturn in the 12th, sleep problems?
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 12:43 AMI was doing someone's chart, and he had Saturn 12th. I asked him if growing up he had more sleep problems than he does now (he's older, and saturn usually get's better with age) He talked about a time in his childhood where he was under alot of sleep study because he hardly ever slept. Almost complete insomnia.
....Saturn 12th can in some ways deal with difficulty letting go, and sleeping is the ultimate surrender.
