Mormons on a Bus

This really happened, but it was a few years ago, and I have a foggy memory.

So I was hired to belly dance, on a bus, from Orange, County, CA to the Mormon temple in San Diego.
It's a great landmark off the freeway in San Diego, you go by, you just gotta look, great white beautiful building up on a hill.
So I had to get on the bus "like a normal person" and come out later as the bellydancer.
Couldn't really accomplish much in the way of dancing, just trying to stay upright as the bus rollicked and rolled on down the highway. The crowd was congenial enough, considering the situation, and what else did they have to do? Captive audience!

The head guy had a flashing, large red button, he wanted me to attach it to my costume, as it didn't really work as a navel jewel!

As we were driving in the bus, the limo was following right along, EMPTY, as an inticement, I forget what they were supposed to do, but someone was going to win a limo ride at a later date.

When we got there, I didn't go to temple , but I did learn that everyone wears white to the service, which I actually thought was a cool idea. . . .

Then I got to go back home in the limo. . . .OK, that was pretty cool, but dancing on a bus, uh, I think I will pass next time. . . .

I grew up as a Mormon...

and I find that downright ODD. I mean, not that there's anything wrong with having a bellydancer perform... (I shouldn't think so, since I do it all the time)

    but on a bus?

On the way to a HIGHLY spiritual, sacred place/event?

    Wow.

Gotta wonder what the event was.

I have to say, it seems very 'progressive' of them... as Mormons go... to do such a thing.

    What a great story!
