A pastor defended a video posted on YouTube of an exorcism of a gay man, saying her church does not hate gay people, it just does not believe in their lifestyle.
The video, which has sparked outrage among gay-rights advocates, shows a young man writhing around on the floor at the Manifested Glory Ministries church in Stamford, Conn., as elders cast a "homosexual demon" from his body.
The video, which was taken six or seven months ago, has since been removed from the Web site. It is not clear who posted it.
Pastor Patricia McKinney said the man in the video told the nondenominational church "he did not want to live this way."
"Every Sunday we call people up to the altar who want to be delivered from any spirit that causes them to not be able to function," McKinney told CNN on Thursday. "We were just beginning to worship the Lord and all of a sudden he hit the floor."
She described the man, whom she did not identify, as very religious and spiritual.
"Manifested Glory Ministries is not against homosexuality. We do not hate them. We do not come up against them. We do just not believe in their lifestyle," McKinney explained.
'Casting shame'
One religious figure said he understood the man's situation because he went through the same experience.
The Manifested Glory Ministries was "acting out of ignorance by equating homosexuality to demon possession," the Rev. Roland Stringfellow, of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies in Religion and Ministry of Berkeley, Calif., told Reuters.
Stringfellow said he was exorcised twice at a different church when he asked for help to deal with his own homosexuality.
"This young man who obviously went for help ended up being damaged I believe," he said. "I am concerned about the emotional and spiritual scars he has. I felt what they were doing was casting not a demon out, but casting shame."

Arrested at Stonewall, gay man sees progress
Church creates stir with gay exorcism video
The uproar over the video coincides with gay-pride week, marking the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York City's Greenwich Village that triggered the modern U.S. gay-rights movement. The annual march through Manhattan is set for Sunday.
A push for gay marriage to be legalized has gathered momentum around the United States and is already allowed Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa. Gay couples will be allowed to marry in Vermont starting in September and New Hampshire in January.
Some states provide for same-sex unions that grant many of the same rights as marriage. Forty-two U.S. states explicitly prohibit gay marriage, including 29 with constitutional amendments, according to Human Rights Campaign, a gay-rights advocacy group.

Re: Pastor defends gay "exorcism"
Sat, June 27, 2009 - 10:36 AMThe creation of mythical demons is one of the church's greatest weapons against humanity and truth. I can testify from personal experience that all the "demons" I have ever encountered have been quite helpful, even eager to be of service to mankind as part of their own salvation. I will not, however, attempt to guess what a "demon" actually is, the most likely guess I have heard is that they are suppressed and "demonized" portions of our own unconscious minds who appear hostile because they resent being ignored and despised. But that's only the most likely seeming explanation; we have no evidence of its truth or untruth as it is based on experience and cannot be brought in for examination in a lab.
The above idea does help to explain why so many Christianoids are obsessed with the idea of demons and often revealed to be acting in ways they themselves attribute to "demonic" influences. They are haunted by their own denied demons and will exhibit such hideous behavior until they come to terms with these unconscious complexes.
Just my opinion, of course.

Re: Pastor defends gay "exorcism"
Sun, June 28, 2009 - 9:22 AMThe problem is about this group is that they create a hatred aganist gay people, in reality gay sex is on a laundry list of sins like greed, envy, and slande in the Bible. They take scripture out of the context to justify their hate againist gay people.
In reality, they are guilty of slander which is one of the commandments that God commands them to not to do. -

Sun, June 28, 2009 - 3:08 PM<<<Pastor Patricia McKinney said the man in the video told the nondenominational church "he did not want to live this way.">>>
When those freaks are ridiculing and demeaning CONSTANTLY talking about how vile and disgusting the "demons" are making him, damn right he doesnt want to live that way. The church he is in is where his friends and peers are, so he is obligated to "change" so he will be accepted. But you know what? I dont feel one bit sorry for the idiot. Who in the coon dog fuck wants to be part of that GANG? If someone is stupid enough to fall for that bullshit with all of the information we have access to that proves it is based on lies and bullshit threats, then they deserve everything they get out of it.
It is funny though, they cant seem to exorcize the "demons" that motivate the adulterers that cheat on their spouses. But then that would out them and make them have to admit they have a problem. They would rather get caught first, then repent....But of course being gay is so much worse in the eyes of GOD than someone who wrecks their marriage, destroys their spouse emotionally and shames their children...

They are as the name suggest'
Desire of everything to hold of earthly form' they are insasiable' and "feed" with abandone' never satisfied'
Most "Demons" are entity attachments' created of mind' reflected through others'
Some are complete "Conciousnesses" the same as plant entities' but they all require "Man" as conduit'

I think the scientific literature would support u Flint -- the more hypocritical, hateful and homophobic the rants and raves become, the more insight is provided into the personality of the self-hater..... they project their self-hatred onto others to relieve their anxiety about their own sexual identity. :)(: This process is a much under-publicized and sublime example of viral self-hatred run amok! :)(: The idea that people would actually believe in the existence of "demons" in the 21st Century is beyond all comprehension....... :)(: -
