I've ended up playing a lot more double reeds in my life then I ever imagined when I was younger.
But my heart is with the bassoon.
Any fun double reed stories? I"m always excited to see a new one I didn't play before.
right now it's the Daduk.

Re: Well, seems like a small board, but
Tue, May 17, 2005 - 11:19 AMFound an informative discussion of the Daduk (it's spelled lots of different ways, but the Armenian posters insist it's Duduk).
Apparently the sound of the Daduk is featured on the Gladiator soundtrack.

Re: Well, seems like a small board, but
Wed, May 18, 2005 - 10:13 AMIt's such a soft almost crying sound to me. I loves it.
Oh and Yah Bassoon all the way, I love it more then my own self.
Too bad it doesn't fit into any of the music I've been playing latley. All though I try often.

Sat, September 10, 2005 - 6:22 PMI started bassoon in 9th grade and ended up loving all double reed instruments. My new babies are an alto shawm and a rackett.

Sun, September 11, 2005 - 9:53 AMIt's interesting how we always come back to the double reed fold eh?

Re: Well, seems like a small board, but
Sun, February 4, 2007 - 7:32 PMI picked up a Bombard a while back. It's a medieval instrument looking like a small oboe with 8 holes and no keys (i you don't already know). It's nasally, loud, and abnoxious. I lost the reed that it came with and am now using one improvised from my oboe reed cane.
