I was wondering if there are any Mac users out there who can recommend a good music transcriber to slow down the tempo of songs you like to hear. I'm using the evaluation version of Transcribe! at present, but it doesn't read M4P files, which is the format iTunes downloads most of the songs in.
Bit of a 'tard when it comes to computers, so if anyone also knows how to change the format of an M4P file to something that might be readable, that would be helpful too.
thanks

Re: TRANSCRIBERS
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 9:27 PMI have a couple ideas like using GarageBand or ACID...some program that will load that type of file. Not able to confirm if these work or not. Anybody??

Wed, May 7, 2008 - 3:08 PMI posted on the Apple tribe too. Apparently, you can cut the song onto a CD, which will change the format to an MP3? I haven't tried it with a physical CD yet, but I did download a program called Tune4Mac that will convert M4Ps. I guess the program installs a virtual CD player that does the same thing as the person on the Apple Post suggested. The freeware version is limited to only the first 3 minutes of a song, but for tunes that you just want to get the intro/gist for, it'll work.
Transcribe! is the only program I've used so far to slow down the tempo. It's a $50 purchase, so I want to check out a few more before I lay my $$ down.
Let me know if you find anything else out as well. In the meantime, while you may not make friends with your neighbors in doing so, I hope you have LOTS of fun with your new "volume control' skill! -

Re: TRANSCRIBERS
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 9:19 PMAre you slowing the songs down to learn lead riffs? I would be interested in that as well. I can usually pick up on the chord changes as long as it’s not Eddie Van Halen or one of those power chord bands. I almost always get the blues and country stuff. Not always the leads, though. I will certainly have to check into Transcribe. Thanks for the post.

I love this app. It has a trial download, but the full version has the realistic sound engine which is the shiz.
