so I am up in Arcata taking a Butoh workshop with Diego Pinon for the weekend… for those of you who came for contact class last night, thanks for coming… I had a great time and am glad you liked that material, working with the Small Dance… it is really core material that I personally always find a great deal of satisfaction going back to… material that is important to understand to really get the roots of contact.
I’m going to teach another class before I head back down south…
Monday night, 7:30 until we feel done,
at Synapsis (the warehouse in Eureka).
$10-$15
I think it is going to be a very engaging class! I plan on extracting some of the feel and spirit of what I have experienced with Butoh (via Harupin Ha and Diego) and similar works. I hope you can come for this experiment in process! Some of it will be familiar material that I was working with about 14 years ago and some of it will be new material… working with body awareness, personal edges, evocative imagery, commitment to metaphor and symbolism and exploration states based in a full emotional range of the ugliness of beauty and the beauty of ugliness!

We’ll explore states and phenomena from Butoh and Contact without getting wrapped up in names or whether or not it is either.
Open level class, some exposure to contact and/or Butoh helpful. 'mainly need an interest in and willingness to work with staying physically present while going to physical/emotional edges and extremes with self and other.
