In Dehli, India

well, I am in Dehli,India now, lol. it is odd how snychronistic events seem to occur when one chooses to do something in life, i met this lady on the plane to Dehli, we got to talking and soon i found myself joining she and her guy friend there, and now i have been staying with them in thier placefor now. i made another friend there, and got quite a deal. i got to talking to them about my spiritual quest, and then they said they would help me

I visited the Taj Mahal, it wasnt as great as the media makes it out to be. the spirit/life that place once had is no gone, left a long time ago.

it is't cold, but not too hot either right now, it is near the equator so it is a temperate climate.

the food is alright here, just most of the food is so spicy it is hard to eat, so it is difficult to come by any food with just a little bit of spice in it or not at all.

it is very much like mexico, very poor place. the only difference from mexico is that the people are a mix if Hindi, Muslim, Arabic, and other middle eastern areas. they have about 93 plus languages alone in India, too many, such a divided country and world it is.

you cant get anywhere around this place without money, niether can one eat or sleep or do anything, it is so sad. also sad to see all these poor people suffering, beggers everywhere, and if you dont know what your doing the people here will rip you off really bad or scope you out to mug you. I have been quite fortunate to have made a friend here to guide me around, otherwise i would be very lost here. also the traffic is crazy here, it is orderly like in the US, people drive how they want, and as one expects in a third world country, militartely dominated, the things here are very deteriorated(buses, houses, cars...ect.). the air is so polluted here in the bid cities that you cant even see the blue in the sky, and seeing the sun is rare through all the smog. and hwen one does it is red, shoing all the pollution.

I am going to a town up north next, it is near Pakistan. There is just so much going on in this world, so much struf, so much suffering and misery.

The Great Task at Hand is bringing the Light of Knowledge into this World, and freeing Humanity of this Survialist mind-set they have been forced to live in in order to give them a Real chance at Living and gorwing thier Spirits here.

Well, I am getting off now, this is a public computer so I have to pay to use it. I wish All who read this a very Prosperous Life.

Good Bye for Now

oh shadow!! thanks for checking in! wondered where you had been as well....

India....yeah, that is special....i have been there a number of times, myself

(the Taj >>the spirit/life that place once had is no gone, left a long time ago.)
--yeah, well you know it is a TOMB right? hehe......yeah, it's postcard pretty and that's it

going north? check out Haridwar, Rishikesh, and eventually Dharamsala, etc. there are many holy cities along the Ganga....and i although it can be dangerous, i am sure you Love and Light will guide you and protect you (plus be careful!)

as far as the food goes, ask someone how to say "less heat" in Hindi (i forget) and always always get YOGURT also called RAITA, OR DAHI.....that is what saved me eating indian food everyday (and never ever eat food uncooked, off the street, or fruit you can't peel....) Be Well Travel Safe.....may god's light shine upon you

      peace, LF

    Wow Randy,

I remember you always wanted to travel, but had no passport or money, and I'm delighted to read you've found a way to make it happen... hats off to you brother! Not to mention you headed straight for India, that's the Holy Grail in backpacking, and such a culture shock that many decide to "work their way up to it."

Me and my wife have done quite a bit of traveling, but have never made it to India (yet), so I can't give you any advice on destinations there, but I'll try to give you a few pointers that might help you on your journey, even though I know you have the brains and heart to do just fine.

Little Flower has already given some excellent food advice, and all I'll add to that is that it's always safer to drink from an unopened can or bottle than from a jug or so. It's great you have been invited to stay with some people, and I'm sure it'll happen more often as you travel along. However, even though many people think it's bad to be judgmental, you really HAVE to trust your people skills and first impressions, or vibes you get from people as you go along, because not everyone with a warm smile and invitation will be true friends. Me and my wife have on many occasions been too eager for a free ride or meal, and one time have been close to being robbed/raped/whatever etc. etc.
We literally ran away from the guy, and have been more careful ever since. Of course, this is the exception to the rule, but these people actually prey and look for travelers so I thought it'd be good to mention.

As for pickpocketing, we always use a moneybelt, worn underneath your clothes, even in bed. Keep your passport, documents and excess money on you at all times, and alway tie or connect your backpack to bedposts, - or better yet - use your backpack as your pillow.

When you go for hikes or excursions, always ask some locals about advice, critters and ways to protect yourself from them. In Malaysia, we were told to buy some local tabacco to put in our shoes to kill leeches. They also told us to wear long socks and tuck our pants into them to prevent the leeches from reaching skin. Every 30 minutes or so we had to stop and pull off all the leeches that were traveling up our pants to get to our faces! Even though we looked rather silly, we were fine, and the "cool" tourist couple that wore nikes and shorts (that laughed at the way we had dressed) got back from the hike with bloody wounds all over their legs. :)
Respect the experience and wisdom of the locals, and of course respect Mother Nature!!! ( when we were in Thailand, 3 Swedish girls died because they went swimming in a storm!!!)

Also, stay away from any drugs unless a fellow traveler has tried it, since sometimes travelers get drugged and then robbed. Drug laws and punishments can be very severe in many countries, but from what I gathered you're not really into the drug thing anyway so you're probably cool.

If you can, try to learn some basics of the local language (kinda hard when there's 90 ;) because your efforts are often very humurous for the locals, and they appreciate your attempts at learning about their culture. You can also look up where the anarchists hang out, and in my experience they always provide food and shelter if you knock on their door or contact them.

    Anyway, whatever, you'll do fine.

How long are you staying and are you going to go to other countries as well? Whatever the case may be, I wish you all the best of luck, health, love and adventure on your journey! With common sense you can avoid a lot of trouble, and if you ever feel a bit 'too lost' just go to some tourist spot and order some western food in a sportscafé! :)

If you can, please keep blogging about your journey because there are many people here who consider themselves your friend and would love to hear what's going down!!!!

Thanks for this thread, and I can't wait to see it have more posts than the Obama one!!!!!!! ;)

    Cheers,

    Ramon

Thanks for the advise Ramon and all, yeah i discovered the food here is made with spice all the time, very hard to get any food without it, but i am fortunate enough to have a place where they make food without spice.

i dont know how long i will stay, as long as it takes, lol.

and im am sorry roger, but i cannot say what i am searching for on here, it is not safe, lol.

i am in Kashmir now, staying in a boat house on a lake, it is prettty nice but very cold, it is a far cry change from the highly polluted air in Dehli, i was actually starting to get sick from it, but now i am recovering so no worries.

yes, i will keep you all updated from time to time. anyways, May you all Prosper and Good Bye for Now.

yeah, I have gone to Kashmir, i have been reading alot here. they say that Jesus after the crucifiction, came here to Kashmir to settle down with Mary Magdelene, his Wife and Consort; they had two children, a girl named Tamil, and a boy named Jese(spelled something like that). back then one could not be a teacher if one was not married, it is like Shiva and Parvati, they give eachother power, even Buddha is said to have a wife aswell. they have the tomb in which jesus was laid when he died of old age in it, it is called the Rozabol, unfortunately it is now closed to foreigners becuase someone decided to sneak a picture shot at the tomb(no pics allowed.) but, i have been disapointed with the "holy" people here, most of them ask for money, and are just like the new age gurus. it is rare to find one who is real and who isnt corrupt.

I am staying at a house boat on Dal Lake, the air here is cleaner than Dehli, and the mountains of the Himalayas are so close you can see all the mountains that divide the surrounding countries of Pakistan, China, and Russia, and Tibet.

and yes, there is much tension here with the soldiers of pakistan and the people here, it is under heavy military dominance here, you can see dozens of soldiers everwhere you go, especially now since the prime minister of india has come to Kashmir.

i have spoken to some political "sufis"(not sufis in my opinion), they confirm that Islam will be the World Religion for this next coming age. although, in True Islam, it is a tolerant religion, with many rituals, no different from christianity. except now, the messengers Mohammed and Jesus and Buddha, thier message has been corrupted from the original teachings. but i feel that this religion too will be used to the advantage of the few, too bad huh.

yeah, i've heard, Pakistan and China are taking about joining together to take Kashmir from India, since it is said to have been the Promised Land of Caanan during the time of Moses in Biblical times.

yeah, like does that just mean it was starting to get cold up in India, or your trail led nowhere?

knowing you a little bit, Shadow, i would say maybe your path lies elsewhere......i myself have been to India several times, and when i went, it was all very familiar/ past life to me.......but i tell people, it ain't for everybody.........sometimes your nirvana lies elsewhere (always within of course but) these places can help you tap into it...........hmmmmm......if i get anymore takes in it intuitively, i'll let you know.......lately my thoughts have been on Peru and S. America, so you being from AZ, my mind puts you there as well........there's alot of interesting stuff going on in the jungles and mtns. down there these days.....Mexico maybe?

all you have to do is
                            just learn to meditate
                            on your breath

                            that's all it really takes....
                            even when you get bored
                            keep doing it

pretty soon this moment will strike you
                            and you will see
what many spend years searching for, when
it's right inside all the time

close and simple as your breath

you can carry that feeling into your day,
                            whatever you do
                            doing the dishes
                            sweeping the floor
                            wiping your ass
                            calling your mom

you start to feel the bliss of god all around you
