This....
1) Next year we get to elect members of Congress and the Senate. We HAVE to start asking point blank, "Are you for the First Amendment?" We have to start making it a major issue. We have to start electing people who will stand up for freedom. Ask: "Are you in favor on 2257?" A yes answer means you do not get my vote.
2)We have to find a way to make people aware that it's thier freedoms at risk too. The other side made abortion an issue, even though most people did not even care for it. I am not advocating we go to the extremes they did, but I am advocating that we starte letters to the editor, talk show calls, blogging, whatever it takes to get this issue into the minds of people.
3) Back to the vote. Our local politicos. "Are you for censorship?" We vote you out. "Are you for restrictions on sexual freedom amongst consenting adults?" We vote you out. And we have to vote in larhe enough numbers.
4) Getting these people out forever. We are stuck with these clown until 2008. Even with impeachment AND a conviction, you have Dennis Hastert, CondoSleaze-a Rice, Rummy, et. al., all lined up to take the job. (See Presidential Succession: www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0101032.html ). We have to start to mobilize now to create a bloc of votes that will make sure these people are out in 2008 (yes Bush can't get back in, but The Fellas do have a bullpen). And that means YOU, Mr. Republican. You have a great party being destroyed by these religeous perverts. It's time you take YOUR party back.
5) Hold those who are IN accountabale in terms of separation of church and state. It is these Xian Fundies who have lead us down the road of 2257. Look at these organizations...and thier tax exempt status. Look at thier influence: are there legal problems there? Here's the deal...if we promist to go to the polls EVERYTIME and vote for freedom....will you work for US for a change.
That's for starters.

< well... of course they're for the 1st amend... HOWEVER in the name of protecting ourselves from evildoers.. we'll restrict those rights..>
Let me ask you.... why is a rated R movie depicting brutal violence not morally reprehensible.. but if you show a penis or vagina.. it becomes a rated x movie?

Wed, December 14, 2005 - 11:42 AMI can give the standard issue answer, our Victorian roots and all that crap.
But basically we are (in general) an eroticphobic society. In Europe and other places, sex (among other things) is handled more maturely and realistically. Many people here in America think that sex=evil. Even in Marriage.
What is making me red right now is that, a week after the hammer was put down, we stopped. No action. No proposals. The outrage is gone.
This is what the bad guys want. Docile sheep that can be led to the slaughter. Or at least to the Stepford Men's Association.

Re: So what DO we do?
Thu, December 15, 2005 - 12:39 PMI posted this on my blog today:
Right now, there seems to be a recurring theme concerning our reaction the New Tribe Order. Please understand that this is not Tribe's batttle...they are as much victim as we are. But to defeat the enemy....to defeat the NTO, we much realize two things: there are more of us than there is of them. And that in Solidarity, mountains can be moved.
In Solidarity, we can defeat 2257. We can rid oursevles of Patriot Acts. We can stop those who are trying to prevent the inevitable from happening. And we can keep our freedom.
Our lessons come from Rosa Parks. Read her story. Read it thouroughly. Understand that if we take the same tact, we can win. And we will. If we all stay together.
Support the Mature Tribes. Join as many as you can. Link with as many like minded Tribers as possible and stay connected. Contact those offline and let them know what is up.
And remember: The flag is down. Silence is golden.

Let's discuss this on December 21st. I wanna see exactly what Tribe.Net considers "community standards." If the term is conservatively applied to include basic nudity, then it IS a problem. -

Past Performance, Future Behaviour

I agree. If past performance is any indication of future behaviour then I suspect that they will apply this to basic nudity.
They flagged photos in my profile as "mature" and at one time removed one from being my main profile photo and replaced it with one they approved of...
They removed one of me in an outfit you can get at any Victoria's Secret in any mall in Amerikkka and the other one was a vegas showgirl outfit. So they were not even fully nude photos. One was not even partially nude.

Sun, December 18, 2005 - 11:58 AMI also wanted to say that I think this is more of an effort to make a com·mod·i·ty of all things sexual rather than to truly banish them.
That is what America is known for, isn't it?
They make it premium content by making it either highly regulated or illegal and then they charge for it...whether it is Tribe or the US Government or the big porn corporations who will not respect the labor rights of women and who the general public does not demand it from because they have bought into the whole "bad women" myth. -

Well protesting is great, protesting is awesome, as with solodarity, but _if_ the protesting and solodarity is ignored, then you just wasted your time and your money.
....
If you think Tribe's policies are inconsistant not only with 'your' rights but also with 2257, sue them, and find out. Drop the hammer.
That is what the coliation did with the AG (Gonzales).
However, Tribe is a business, like the individual(s) who promote themselves, and publish photographs on the internet to be models etc., and as such are subject to both state and federal law.
Drop the hammer. I seriously doubt 'you' will win the day. But thats me saying that, I'm not the judge nor the jury.
