The Carnival Takes Over The San Francisco Streets!

Ahhh yes, my beautiful family – it is happening!
An idea bred in our dear Douglas’s noggin’ for the opportunity to take some pretty pictures of beautiful people in interesting settings (or vice versa vice, vice vice versa, any way you want it) this Saturday, December 22nd we gather and call the streets ours!

This is a time of celebration, so let’s make this Solstice, the darkest day of the year, shine with colors that only those of the Circus wear – let’s friggin’ BLIND the confused passerby with our beauty, shed our own light, dark, odds and delicious ends, and create an exquisite mayhem!

This is purely Doug’s idea, but I think I’ll throw a bit more delicious magick into it, as this opportunity is far too good to pass up, and for some reason, the guy has given me free reign for the gathering of people… and I’ve decided that it’s time to shake some dust!

We’re making this an event.

This will be purely a playtime, joined by members of our dear friends and family (and Top Royalty of the San Francisco Circus Scene) VAU de VIRE SOCIETY & GOOFERMAN, so get your sweet, twisted asses in gear and come play with us. We’ll be doing what we do and looking our best, roaming the streets and finding various San Francisco scenes to play on and around, titillating the innocent passerby, and letting *them* shoose what kind of dreams they want to go home with. We won’t be cooped up in a club or ruled by the laws they need to abide by, not constricted by the limitations in the corporate world – this is OUR FUCKING DAY!

Let’s face it – the goddamn bunnies (gods, I loathe bunnies) have theirs, the Santa’s have theirs, the pirates, zombies, Pee Wee’s – the list goes on. Well, my dear, dear beautiful Circus Family, THIS will be ours. You know as much as I do how needed it is, and it’s far past due. (If it were a library book, we’d be fucked.)

The route for this Saturday is still being figured out by Doug, but the meeting place for this first year will be the Xenodrome, on 26th and Portrero in San Francisco.

The actual day it happens in the future will very likely change to a warmer one later, but this is the first, annual or whenever we feel like it, and like the Carnival, it could show up anywhere, anytime.

Please come this Saturday - to the very first of many - CARNIVALIA!

We will be thrilled to see you!

*** Doors, preparation and PHOTOS at Xenodrome - 9:00am, with Douglass & possibly Nightshade shooting pictures in our beautiful sets.

***Leaving Xenodrome at 11:30am, as sharp as we can get it!

The route is at this point a secret (even to us) and at times even might be decided by consulting the Oracles, so get your asses there by the time we leave, okay?

*Dress in your circus best, but dress warm – the weather is supposed to be a bit chilly, but no rain.

>>>Added Bonus for this day! <<<
After Carnivalia, our dear friend Mark Growden is playing at 12 Galaxies for a Solstice Celebration with Tobias, The Nekyia, & others!

"Yeah right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands)
No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured: "what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00, right?" Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!... Within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it's still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00 and it's still coming in rapidly. It's certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works.... Also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it. I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you will start making more money than you thought possible by doing something
so easy!
Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully!
(Print it out or download it.)
Follow the simple directions and watch the money
come in! It's easy. It's legal. And, your investment is only $6.00 (Plus postage)
IMPORTANT: This is not indecent; it is not illegal; and it is virtually no risk - it really works!!!! If all of the following instructions are adhered to, you will receive extraordinary dividends. PLEASE NOTE: Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or more can be yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue its success by carefully adhering to the instructions. You will now become part of the Mail Order business.
In this business your product is not solid and tangible, it's a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. however, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income, which is made from people like you and me asking to
be included in that list.
Here are the 3 easy steps to success:
STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper
"PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST."
Now get 6 US $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope (to prevent thievery). Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a $1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying
for it! Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses:
#1) D.Blakeman 7400 Glenleaf #179 Shreveport, LA 71129
#2) J.maxey 355 N. Manilla, Fresno, CA. 93727
#3) C. Lyons P.O. Box 69645 Los Angeles, CA. 90069-0645
#4) RJ K. Murpay 850 E. Walnut #173 Grapevine, Tx 76051
#5) Candice Messinger 5216 Old Powell rd. Holly Springs, NC 27540
#6) Tim DeMeerleer 105 N. Main st.Rear Kennett, MO 63857
STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc.) and add YOUR Name as number 6 on the list.
STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups)All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!
This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal laws. Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money, you can use it again, and again. PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants and by their carefully adhering to the directions. Look at
it this way. If you are of integrity, the program will continue and the money that so many others have received will come your way.
NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you, either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send you. This VERIFIES that you are truly providing a service.
(Also, it might be a good idea to wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.)
So, as each post is downloaded and the directions
carefully followed, six members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move up the list geometrically so that when your
name reaches the #1 position you will be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity for only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first six people listed above)
Send it now, add your own name to the list and you're in business!
---DIRECTIONS -----
FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS
Step 1) You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, and select 'copy' from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computer’s memory.

Step 2) Open a blank 'notepad' file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the 'edit' menu select 'paste'. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can
add your name to the list.
Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in different settings, you'll always have this file to go back to.
Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.)
Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the
header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, click the post message button. You're done with your first one!
Congratulations...THAT'S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup!
**REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200**
That's it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it.
**JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT. **
HOW IT WORKS:
Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example).
So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $625.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive $15,625,00! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the
latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is: do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are
joining the Internet and reading these articles everyday? JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so... People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when
there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the Internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual Internet. Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really work. God bless you!

Does anyone have any info advice on what kind of stilts would be best. I've been on wooden peg stilts for years now (made my Tom Sepe) and was thinkin to try out steel ones for the lighter traveling. What's the argument against steel stilts? Does anyone know a good design? I have a blacksmith in SF who can make them for me. Any good tips or advice?

Dear Makers,

We are pleased to announce Bay Area Maker Faire 2007!

Organized by the staff of MAKE and CRAFT magazines, Maker Faire is a newfangled fair that brings together science, art, craft an engineering in a fun, energized, and exciting public forum. The aim is to inspire people of all ages to roll up their sleeves and become makers. This family-friendly event showcases the amazing work of all kinds of makers--anyone who is embracing DIY and wants to share their accomplishments with an appreciative audience. Last year, we had 20,000 people at Maker Faire.

Maker Faire Bay Area will take place May 19-20, 2007 at the San Mateo Fairgrounds. We are also adding Maker Faire Austin for October 20-21, 2007 at the Travis County Fairgrounds. This call is primarily for Maker Faire Bay Area but you can indicate if you are interested in participating in Maker Faire Austin.

We encourage you to join the fun and propose a maker exhibit, performance or workshop. You can submit a proposal through the web using the link described below or you can come show us your work at a Maker Faire "audition" on Saturday, February 24 at TechShop in Menlo Park, CA.

http://www.makerfaire.com

Proposals: We invite proposals for Maker workbench exhibits, workshops, presentations and performances for the Maker Faire. We are interested in proposals from individuals as well as from groups such as hobbyist clubs and schools.

Maker Workbench: Our standard setup for Makers is a six-foot long workbench. You can use this workbench to display your work and/or demonstrate how you make something. Some makers don't need workbenches, typically because they have a large object or they set up outside. Please provide a short description of what you make and what you will bring to Maker Faire. Please link to photographs or videos of what you make. Let us know about any requirements you have, such as electricity, Internet, ventilation, etc.

Interactive Performance: We're seeking performances that will engage and entertain the attendees and enable them to interact in a fun way. The performances may be tied to a stage or roving through the fairgrounds as a kind of street theatre. Performances could be musical or theatrical, but they could also be a collaborative building process. For example, you might work with attendees to put something large together in an hour.

Presentation: These includes audio-visual presentations intended for showing a project (or process) that cannot be brought to the faire, or a special project that requires AV resources. These presentations are limited to 20 minutes. Please describe the topic of your presentation and what kind of media (audio/video) that you will have. As a general rule, PowerPoint presentations are not appropriate for this event unless they are unusually entertaining.

Demonstration Workshop: A demonstration workshop is a show-and-tell session on how to make something. We're looking for makers who can demonstrate (and teach) particular skills, techniques or processes. You should start off by explaining your materials and tools and then step-through a build process, sharing your knowledge and interacting with the audience. Sessions should be under 30 minutes in length and may be repeated on the program. Please describe the subject of your workshop and what kind of setup you need for it.

Application Form: Please go to the following URL and fill it out to apply for participation as a maker. http://makerfaire.com/bayarea/2007/proposal/

All proposals will be reviewed and we will notify makers of acceptance via email by March 19, 2007.

NOTE: Presenters whose talks are accepted will receive free registration to Maker Faire. We cannot pay for travel and accommodations. (We do make exceptions under some circumstances.) If you have any questions about participating in Maker Faire, please contact Natalie Villalobos by email: info@makerfaire.com. Please let Natalie know if you plan to come to the audition at TechShop.

The best way to have light up eyes is by not putting the lights near your eyeholes. This way you can put a large mesh screen where your face is. and there are no "eyehole" blind spots.

I would rig up a super bright light for eyes, one of those
Deer hunter lights. I can show you at Popcorn. Or those blue headlights that go on cool cars. You can get a good battery for these for about 25$ new.

I dont have anymore tips I was just hoping people would riff on the topic when the urge hit them. I am always interested in other peoples ideas. Ones good enough to steal or morph, that is.

Simultaneous performance atop a 10' x 10' raised mobile stage with a skeletal pyramid on top and dream inducing crystals (the Dream-cubator).
A couple will lay themselves to sleep as Sandman passes.

Song fades out....
Sounds of didjereedoo and Thuvian throat singing eminate from inside the Dreamer's head.

A daily variety of performers will enact a scene from the Dream Share group. Stilt Walkers may be included in this or do similar scene or other starring role..... hey ... you folks have the height!

Moment of silence at end of scene while darkness falls.

At 11:11 minutes the Dream Spirits rush through audience again and whisper:
"Pss-s-s-t..... Wake Up! ...... You're Dreaming! Pass it on....."

Fire is lit within the Dreamer and Stilt Walkers positioned on either side will remove blindfold from around the Dreamers head.
and/or
Stilt Walkers enact blindfold scene on stilts.

Audience shouts, "WAKE UP!" as blindfold is removed to reveal lights in eyes.

All celebrate and guest drummers and firedancers are allowed to perform.

Parade back to DREAM CAMP for pajama party.....
then you're on your own!

CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS ALL DAY LONG ON ALL OUR STUFF!!
... here is the DREAM CAMP welcome:

Greetings to all in DREAM CAMP
I am your host, Elonifer.
I would like to welcome you to my humble project:
http://www.giamind.com

I am the project founder and camp coordinator, and facilitator. I have established this camp as a continuation of last year's project, and as such, the 2nd part of an 8 year countdown to the "End of Time" in 2012. This is the "End of Time" according to the Mayan calendar. We may expect that many greater and larger events and groups will converge and collaborate through these seven years until then, to a synchronistic planetary celebration.
My concept is to facilitate a means of demonstrating the emerging planetary culture of a Global Individual Aware Mind.... the GIAMIND; that is... the "Mind" that is both Individually, and Globally Aware in expression through art, activity, and collaborative community performance.

Last year I grounded the project in Opera Camp with a small but profound performance, "The Eye of Heaven," focused around Anni Hallet's piece, "The Spiral Eye of the Celestial Falcon." The production engendered modest but clearly Divinely Inspired results that confirmed the theory and the ancient hermetic law:
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."

As a multi-media artist and performer, I am allowing each group who participates, to bring their own special talent and gift into a collective camp presentation through classes, group activities, and performance revolving around the Burningman theme and an aritst's work. In this way, we may all share in that "which is greater than the sum of all of us."

Our entire DREAM CAMP, becomes then, an experiment in a new social and cultural way of being, sharing, and connecting with each other. Further, in gathering artists from all mediums: visual, audio, tactile, aoromatic, kinetic and epicurean, (i.e. sight, sound, touch, taste, smell, and motion), The whole DREAM CAMP becomes a synergistic multi-media art presentation!
WE ARE THE SHOW!!!
Hopefully we can then take this intrinsic knowledge, and skills of communicating that we will experience, out into the world beyond the borders of Black Rock City.
This year, we will ground the performance with all parameters that pertain to the natural symbolism of the 1st Chakra. All Chakras will be cleansed and activated, but we will focus and progress through the next few years up to the Crown, or 7th Chakra in 2012.
For now, I have gathered groups who share a common vision to further demonstrate how amazing and synchronistic this type of collaboration can be..... oh, and fun!
In a unique demonstration of GIAMIND, this year's groups include:
the Green Society Association of networkers in action;
the 7th Mystery School, doing DNA activations, body and mind purifications, and ritual performance;
Sustainable Dome Communities, teaching sustainable building, environmental harmony, and financial independence.
WholeFoodsFarmacy, bringing "PHI" dried fruit and nut products and raw food ideology;
DreamWerks, a group of dream professionals doing dream sharing;
Kundalini Dancers, with Luna Ravenchild, teaching Ecstatic dance;
Various teachers and healers, including from Hawaii, Lehuani, using the latest in sound vibrational healing;
SpiritRave, providing sound alchemy and dream ambiance;
Myself, Elonifer Skyhawk, with others, sharing stone healing, solar gazing, and lucid/Shamanic dreaming...
...and many others with gifts aplenty!

We will have daily demonstrations, classes, workshops, activities and of course celebration!

We are fortunate this year to have as our collaborating visual artist, Pepe Ozan, whose sculpture, The Dreamer, will be celebrated each day from 7pm to sunset. We will host a Purple Pajama Party Parade to Awaken the sleeping Dreamer, light the fire within, and open his eyes!
In continuing with the theme and workshops of Dream groups and our own focus on healing, foods, and sustainable lifestyles, we will utilize the gifts and talents of all in DREAM CAMP to create an environment that is "...THE STUFF THAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF!"

Each group has the open opportunity to connect, collaborate, and merge with each other to combine classes and workshops with performance and celebration.
Collectively, this can be summarized as an explanation, a demonstration, and a practical exercise. -The basic formula in teaching anything to anyone!

This coordination can sometimes be tricky, but in doing this type of project for several years now, I am convinced that we will have an amazing performance, camp, and interactive connection with all on the playa within the Burning Man philosophy:
RaDiCaL SeLf EXPRESSION!
RADicAL PARTY-cipati-ON!
The potential for transformational experience is over the top!
Outa this world!
Off the wall!
Kach-ing! Kach-ang! Ka- Bling! BLING!

yo...

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or join the DREAM CAMP discussion list:
or
our GIAMIND project discussion list:

Again, on behalf of the GIAMIND project, welcome to our wonderful adventure!

Blessings,
in the dance of life, till the Dreamer wakes,
Elonifer

Most of the stilt construction pages I've seen talk about using wood. I just finished another project that had me cutting & drilling aluminum and I love the stuff now. It's lightweight, strong, and pretty easy to work with.

So I'm working on a pair of stilts made out of square aluminum tube. (it's easier to drill square tube than round if you don't have a drill press)

Anyone done the same? I'm trying to figure out what size/thickness aluminum I should be using.

I found a statement that aluminum has a yield strength of 28,000 PSI. Since the stock I bought is 1/16 of an inch thick, does that mean the tubes shouldn't deform as long as they experience less than 1750 PSI?

I probably need to factor in the moment-arm and gravity-concussive force. But that still seems to leave a significant margin, since I'm about 200 lbs.
I always joke that "I'm a stilt walker", since I dance in 8 1/2 inch stilettos. But, in reality...that's nowhere near stilt walking height!!! I don't know if I could do it--but I'm darn ready to try! Lonely here in Pittsburgh finding no stilt walkers!
i also heard about some plan for a creature parade/rampage at burningman and have been conceptualizing a costume for this (or you know, to get funky at the next big party.. ), can anyone comment on the merrits of wire verses bonning verses some sort of padding? I'm thinking i'll make some sort of frame for the body and arms and then stretch this crazy licra fabric over it. I've never worked with bonning (the stuff that goes in corsets) but someone suggested that might work better, and we were thinking padding would get too hot and be too bulky.. anyone have experience constructing this type of costume? i'd really like to light it up too... if there's a previous thread somewhere, let me know, dont bother reposting.

Hi! My name is dena and I stiltwalk in Carnival with a group, Mara Reggae.
I would like to invite other stilter's to join us. There are usually 5 - 7
stilters and it would be fun to have more! I am also inviting drummers and
dancers to come out too...........

Mara Reggae is made up of a samba percussion core, samba dancers, and then
us the stilters! There is a contribution of $35.00 (i think) to stilt in
the parade.

The first rehearsal is this Sunday, March 20 from 4-5:30 at City Dance
Studio. At this time Rhonda, the organizer, will go over the theme for our
group, and other logistics.

The rehearsals continue on Sundays until the parade on May 29th. It is not
mandatory that you attend all rehearsals. Usually the first set of
rehearsals are for people who are interested in learning the dancer's
choreography. Those rehearsals are held at the City Dance Studio on March
27, April 3, 10 and 17 from 4-5:30 pm.

On April 24th, the outdoor rehearsals start at Golden Gate Park, (these I
usually go to just for the fun of getting up) - The outdoor rehearsals are
from 12:30-2pm on April 24, May 1, May 8 and May 15.

The parade is on May 29th!!!!!!!!!!

Information about Mara Reggae and the location of the dance studio can be
found below.

If you are interested in joining us, would like more information or have any
questions, please feel free to e-mail me.

Hope to see you on Sunday!
At my first Burning man (2003) I discovered you all! I was at the SolSystem camp dancing and laughing. I was just a tad altered(GASP!) and not completely in control of myself. It was about 1 or 2 in the morning, I turned to look and these great huge brown creatures striding across the desert up to the speaker circle. They lurched in from the dark and danced with all the people gathering around them. Then they all stood up on two legs and shook thier long slender arms at the sky. It is an image I will take with me for the rest of my life. So thank you. You all are neat!

Hi, just wanted to toss out a costume idea that worked for us out on the playa this year. I was reminded of it by reading the costume ideas thread, but its a bit old, so I thought I'd start a new one.

Someone mentioned the idea of walking stilters on leashes, and thats something we tried this year that worked great.

My friend Laura put on a white mini-skirt, white boots, white fishnet, and a white vest (no other shirt, lots of cleavage), and a big furry white hat. Very 'mistress' dominatrix like. Then one guy was on powerrisers and arm-stilts, dressed in a big white robe and wearing a full head alien mask. He had a leather harness on, with a chain. I was in long white pants, a white tutu, a white flowy shirt, and was wearing hamster ears. I also had a leather harness and chain. We also had another guy, not on stilts, in a white robe and white hat who carried our stuff.

Mistress held our chains and walked us around, making it very clear that we were her 'pets'. The other guy was the slave, and he would run around taking care of us, giving us treats, fetching things, adjusting her vest, which didn't like to stay on, etc. If one of us escaped, he'd chase after us and grab our chains and bring us back to mistress.

It was fairly simple, we just picked a color and assembled costumes on the fly one afternoon, and then went out, but people loved it, absolutely loved it. There is something about a sultry woman walking people on leashes that is just classic entertainment. People would cheer her on, we were constantly stopped for photo shoots, people would offer us little treats like you would do for an animal, etc.

So anyway, just wanted to encourage people to keep working on their costumes. Even something simple and cohesive can work wonders, even if its not very elaborate.

Plus, being walked around like a pet is really fun.

peace,
sam

I totally understand and appreciate everyones individual personality and creativity. However, a group of these creatures all wearing the same costume or even variations of the same basic costume really puts our "art on a larger scale and I think will just plain look much cooler on and off the playa. Call it making a statement about collective togetherness. I don't want people to feel like they're "conforming" so everyone, please share your input here.

Personally, I was thinking fake fur on the stilts and arm poles, and some sort of dark, flowy robe over the body. A basically kite-shaped headpiece would be easy to make, liteweight, provide shade and give the illusion of a larger beast/creature.
