All of you classic 900 owners might be interested in knowing that not only is Saab currently developing a spiritual successor to the classic 900 Turbo...but doing so to replace the 9-2X.
Saab told the British magazine Auto Express that the new 900 "will be a hatchback, not a load-lugger, and that it will slot in beneath the 9-3 in the range, taking on rivals such as Audi's A3 and the BMW 1-Series. Set for launch in 2008, it will also form the basis of the next Impreza. That car will mark the arrival of diesel engines for the Japanese firm."

Re: A new Saab 900
Fri, May 13, 2005 - 9:44 PMsaab doesn't get it. their new cars just don't have what they used to. there was a uniqueness to the design of the 900, and they've lost that with the new 9-3. i loved my spg. but i think i may have bought my last saab, a 2000 viggen that absolutely rocks. beautiful car, and scary fast. but the new ones just don't have it. i'm skeptical about something that will "slot in beneath the 9-3." but thanks for the link.
