Hey all.
I hope to be a more active member of this tribe soon, as I'm going to buy a Saab.
It's a '93 900. Don't know if it's a turbo.......
The mechanic who has always worked on it is selling it for $1575!
I'm only nervous b/c it's the first car I've ever bought myself (yeah, I'm 28 and it's my first car purchase............)
That and I've spent the last 2 yrs putting good $ after bad into an '83 Volvo 240 wagon.
But as soon as I saw her, I loved her. She even told me her name :)

Ok, it's a Saab thing.
But is there some underground exchange for these? Where there only like ten made?
I've seen them and am seriously lusting after one..........

I may have to part with mine soon, since I no longer have a garage and San Francisco street parking is becoming too high a price to pay.

BUT I LOVE MY SAAB. So I'm torn. You understand, don't you? I knew you would.

If you own a Saab, or just wish you did, this here tribe's for you. (And if you have a burning desire to be the moderator for Saab Saab, step right up. I was just acting on a whim.

I bought it! I just need a few non-rainy days so I can put down the top. Any experience with washing convertibles? The manual says not to use automatic carwashes but the dealers told me it's fine. I don't know who/what to believe.

To any 9000 owners. Today my check radiator indicator kept coming up. I had flushed and filled the rad. 2 mos ago and it had no prblems til this. I popped the hood, check the level in the res. and released the "pressure" cap just to check I wasn't tripping. The res. had built up a lot ofpressure and since it is a sealed system I believe the cap was overloaded. This remidied the problem and restored the equilibrium to the harmony of the machine.

900 Turbo Convertible Reliability?

hi folks,

i'm posting for some advice - i have a line on a relatively inexpensive ($2500) 1988 Saab Turbo convertible.

i've heard that turbo chargers can be expensive to fix and finnicky to deal with.

any advice on this car? anything to watch out for when assessing it's value?

i think it's probably worth the $2500, as it's got a new top, alloy wheels, etc.

any advice welcome!

howdy!
i have a beautiful red 1993 900s
i am the orginal owner and it is in fabulous shape with only ~80k miles.
whee!

now that the mornings are nippy and the pacific nw autumn brings those foggy windows to my car i have noticed that my rear window defrost is no longer working. :(
i guess i shouldn't be surprised since i bought the car over 12 years ago or so...

many questions:
1) how can this be fixed?
2) is it a huge ordeal?
3) is it really expensive?
4) do i have to do it at a saab dealer?
5) what are those rear window laden lines providing heat/defrost called?

Power Antenna For Saab 900 [new In Box]

This is a HARADA AM/FM Fully Automatic Ebony Finish Power Antenna Model MXB-22 that fits Saab 900 (Except convertibles) upto 1993 and possible may work on other cars as well.

May require some modification for installation, depending on what model antenna was originally installed.

I bought this back in the fall of 2003 to replace the broken Antenna on my 93 900s, but alas, it lost its’ reverse and I never did fix it, so this just sat around gathering dust. Looks like you can get a nice cheep one on ebay with a
chrome mast, but if you’re like me and think that would just look silly on a Saab, you’ll be stuck looking at the more expensive OEM replacements or ones like this.

The kit includes a set of 5 black mounting bezels that will allow for five mounting angles (3, 8, 15, 23, or 30) so as to fit most vehicles. A metal mounting strap with 2 brass screws and one brass nut so to secure the base of the motor to the strap via a tapped brass mount and then to secure the strap to
the car panel, a 3” water drain tube, and the complete wiring harness that looks almost long enough to make it into the back seat.

I’m selling this “AS IS” since it is out of the manufactures 90 day limited warranty. But aside from taking the parts out of the box to see that everything was there, the box is as good as sealed. I’m asking $45 USD plus shipping via UPS to North Am. Please PM me if you are interested. I can email you photos of the parts upon request. I will not accept checks or money order from non-US banks. A PayPal payment would be preferred and would get it shipped
the fastest.

Saab 900S Question

I have a 94 900S, which I love, however, I just had to put $500 in it to replace the heater core (because I don't like breathing anti-freeze).

Again, I love this car...however, would ot be throwing good money after bad to spend an additional $1200 over the summer to have the work done to have it run like it did off the show room floor?

A new Saab 900

All of you classic 900 owners might be interested in knowing that not only is Saab currently developing a spiritual successor to the classic 900 Turbo...but doing so to replace the 9-2X.

Saab told the British magazine Auto Express that the new 900 "will be a hatchback, not a load-lugger, and that it will slot in beneath the 9-3 in the range, taking on rivals such as Audi's A3 and the BMW 1-Series. Set for launch in 2008, it will also form the basis of the next Impreza. That car will mark the arrival of diesel engines for the Japanese firm."

Dear Saab Fans -

I live in Connecticut and need snow tires. Does anyone have a recommendation?

I've purchased a clutch kit for my 88' Saab 9000 Turbo and am in need of a willing kind soul to install it. My car is located in Santa Rosa, Ca. but, could be towed to your Bay area home/garage/shop. Very minimal finances so i'm seeking a creative trade/barter/exchange situation.

Any ideas/suggestions/information would also be very beneficial...

thanx!

Saab 9-3

I am a recent Saab convert. I haven't bought a car in 13 years and then I decided that having passive restraint belts was not the latest in technology.

I test drove the BMW 3 Series and didn't like the trunk situation--then I tried the Jetta and didn't like the way it shifted. My Mom suggested trying the Saab and I fell for it! Everyone rags on the small cabin but I'm small and it's no problem. Plus my sales guy was six foot three and he didn't have a problem driving it.

I drove it to SF from Tucson and found it so much fun. I arrived within ten minutes of the time the car had projected.

Now the only drag is that I read in USA Today that new Saab owners would receive free lift tickets to Crested Butte. My dealer is pretending not to notice!

Does anyone out there have more info?

I have a highly modified 86 900T that I have had to annually replace the vacuum hoses on because I can never find the pihole leaks that prevent me from getting full boost. I have the stage 2 APC from SPG9 that's set at about 16psi.. but I am gettin sick of constantly replacing hoses - anyone have some recomends for me?

My first car was a saab. I loved it and drove it until it had 160K miles before it was time to retire it. That was a few years ago (I then bought a VW). I'm about to re-connect with my old love buy this time with a convertible!
I'm justing looking for the right one.....
