Nubian Moon Daughters

public - created 02/18/07
Nubian Moon Daughters Dance Ensemble was founded in the year of new millennium, however we have existed since the dawn of time. Invoked by the spirit of our ancestral goddesses, Ast/Isis, Yemaya, Oya, Oshun, Kali, Parvati, Saravasti, Lakshmi, Renenet, Estsanatlehi, Igaehinvdo, we are here to preserve the ancient art of AfrikIndian Dances of the Womb. Our dance is in praise of feminine awareness, female rites of passage, spiritual consciousness, sacred healing, our divinity, our beauty, our booties, our bodies, OUR SELVES.

While our dance contains some elements of style from Central Africa and India, Nubian Moon Daughters is a Khametic “Bellydance” troupe focusing on the dance traditions of East and North Africa. We are summoned to respond to the call of those who seek a deeper understanding and a more spiritual connection with the ancient goddesses of Nubia through the language of dance. While we pay homage and aspire to preserve the ancient dance cultures of various tribes in the North, East and Sub-Saharan regions of the Afrikan diaspora, our quest leads us to bridge the gap and interweave the dances of other cultures globally, forming a tapestry of world-ethno “Oriental” and Tribal dance.

We, the daughters of the Nubian Moon, are the spirits that flow through the Nile rivers and into the beat of every ancestral drum.
