NAIAD DAIAD are North America's newest and greatest psychedelic electronic supergroup. Consisting of Brandon Maynard (Aquarium/The Malah, Greenville SC) and Cooper Howland (OpenSourceCode, NYC) NAIAD DAIAD adamantly refuse to recognise genre restrictions, rules, or recommendations about what music is supposed to sound like. Instead, we produce eclectic, freewheeling, effortlessly funky, outrageously danceable music. Equally suited to the chillout or the main stage, morning, noon or night, NAIAD DAIAD has been under construction for over a year, and is finally ready for your consumption! We truly hope that you are as hungry for some brand-new, all-orignal, wildly inventive music as we are to give it to you! The live show consists of two laptops, a guitar with MIDI pickups, microphones, electronic and organic percussion, hardware synthesizers and whatever else we can manage to drag out to the venue! We re-dub, re-mix, and improvise in real-time to create an immersive and involving live experience that's impossible to ignore and damn hard not to dance to.
Check us out at www.myspace.com/naiaddaiad, and if you like what you hear, PM us for a link to a FREE 45-minute live promo set!

In 1992, Emiliano hooked up with Ziv Matushka, another pioneer in the Israeli electronic music scene and, together, they started to experiment with more Industrial music and eventually writing Goa and Psy trance. Ziv joined P.Cok, and Emiliano continued his project as ENERTOPIA. The first single by Enertopia was released in 1996 by B.N.E Israel in a compilation called DESTINATION ISRAEL, and after a few months he was signed by KREMBO records. But first Sleezy D's dub step acid techno facial will start the night off pushin the subs to their limit! Haitian the master of mash ups will shake you soul until Bioluminescence prepares your minds for transcendence with their LIVE tribal psychedelic sound. From there Electrik will accelerate the party into a full on frenzy leaving K&L to continue hard and strong. A few surprises remain for the very end. Sum 3 will be the mad scientists behind the curtain distorting all your visual perceptions while Sonic Beating's debaucherous deco sets the mood. NycRavers will be providing an public UV art wall for you creative pleasures. Enjoy.

About the Album & Artist:
Brooding, ambient, experimentation, improvisation, filled with emotion… These are some of the words that describe the sound of Evan Marc (aka Bluetech). A classically trained pianist and master of the art of software production, Evan’s love of the melodic and exquisite sense of sound design makes him one of the most ingenious producers today.

Evan achieved international recognition and success with his downtempo / chill-out project, Bluetech, making waves in the chill-out world with his unique sound and top-notch production quality. He released three full length albums on Aleph Zero Records and Waveform Records, as well as starting his own imprint, Native State Records, and touring internationally. A need to expand his sound led him to explore his love for tech-house resulting in his latest album, “Emotional Ecology.”

On “Emotional Ecology,” Evan delves into the deeper side of tech-house, presenting a melodic and dub influenced album with a focus on dance floor usability and emotional development.

"I really wanted to make an album which brought a sense of the sacred to the dance floor,” Evan says of the album. “I've always loved the sense of play that people feel when they release themselves to the moment in dance. It's light hearted, healing, and holy all at the same time. This album was written for people who dance. It was written to make a safe space for people to let themselves go and experience magic through movement."

The album is already receiving support and play from influential DJs, labels, and artists spanning a variety of electronic music genres including Gordon Field (Interchill Records), Gio (Dakini Records / Makyo), Taho (Lumina Records), System 7, and more. Evan’s signature touch on the tech-house sound is sure to make “Emotional Ecology” a stand out release in the genre and a sought after release for collectors who know premium quality electronic music.

PsyBooty Records is proud to present yet another ground breaking, genre bending masterpiece by Evan Marc.

Reviews:
“One of the worlds leading purveyors of IDM brings his talents to the world of tech house, with his classic melodies and soaring dub beats, Evan Marc drops an intelligent, deep and beautiful album for the dance floor.” – Michael Hodgson (Pitch Black, Dubmission Records)

"Evan's sound is as always, unique and inspiring. Its dance music you can chill to. Un-offensive, but still bumping - right where my heart is headed these days!” – Simon Baring (Twisted Records)

"Once again Evan reveals his depth and versatility as one of the most innovative musician/producers around. Emotional Ecology is a brilliant cross-over travelogue that's sure to rock clubs and trance floors world wide." – Naasko (Label Manager, Interchill Records)

“Wonderful rich deep housey grooves, imbued with Evan’s distinctive sonic signature that we so appreciate on his Bluetech releases. We’ve been playing this a lot and it’s really one of our favorites at the moment.” – Steve Hillage & Miquette Giraudy (System 7)

"Solid leading edge debut album from Evan Marc – highly recommended” – Andrew Ross Collins (Interchill Records, Macro Records, Mariko Music Publishing)
year.... So, before I delve into the Gaian Mind
Festival 2007 - can I just give some HUGE props to the
following - all of which have "reviews" in some form
or another laying around?

1. The new M-Field Album "Current of Life." - another
breath of fresh air for anyone smothered by the idea
that "American Producers simply don't compare on a
global scale." This album proves otherwise!

2. The new material (as yet to be released) by
D-Space. Again, an American project that will open
eyes on a worldwide scale.

3. The AM Bionik party in NYC featuring Kino Oko,
Psylab, Epi Centrum, and Big Wigs! I was only there
for a few hours; but realizing what went into the
party and feeling the energy of the people and
space... it was magical!!

4. Secret Fire III in Illinois.. A mini Gaian Mind
with a BOOMING sound system and ZERO annoying
neighbors to complain, the huge highlight was actually
a drum n' bass set and chilling with KT and Igor...

5. The new ANTIX album... Yes, Hayden and Barton are
at it again... It is called "The Wanderers" and anyone
who feels the brothers lost their tribal and
percussive edge on "Twin Coast" - think again! The
track on this range from aggressive dancers to chilly
slow-burning gems!

6. 28th Day Productions... In the blink of an eye,
these guys and girls have started popping up parties
all over the place. A book could be written about the
last 8 months of their lives... They've breathed new
life into the NYC scene and have kept things burning
wildly in Spectra's brief (but all too long)
absence...

So yeah.... my apologies for being "lazy." But,
as has been well documented, the loss of my laptop has
weakened my liking for computers and related tasks in
general. And you know... I have that welder now..
FOUL MISTRESS!!! :-)

If Gaian Mind can be summed up in one paragraph,
then its not Gaian Mind. If the festival can be
assigned a few adjectives, then its not the festival.
Every year, things happen - both trance related and
not - that accelerate our kinetic activity, emphasize
our ability to "feel," and give new meaning to that
now cheesy catch-phrase "all-is-one."
Maybe this year, it was a pair of events that
rattled my brain and got me closer to genuine
awareness. The two events, to me, represent the same
event, just in different forms. Almost as if the
universe was making me see the same thing TWICE so I
would really "get it." (I can rattle off the ERA's of
the whole Red Sox pitching staff, but when it comes to
those "life-lesson" things... well, I'm a little
slow.)
No music was playing during either presentation of
this lesson - and both happened with very few others
around. Jeff Whitmore wasn't playing drums or laughing
anywhere near these occurences - and no world-class
live-act was dropping everyone's jaws. Nobody was
taking pictures, nobody was naked, and nobody was
under the influence of any illicit substances. It was
almost like the festival just "stopped" and showed me
something. And then, as it always does, started back
up again without missing a beat.

So it's around 10AM on Thursday and Marria and I
are at the North Crook stage setting up the deco
display. Steve-O was busy preparing his cool lycra
sculptures, Joanne and a few of the 28th Day heads
were reviewing plans for the dome; and others were
just relaxing after waking up. All in all, the stage
area was quite bare - both in terms of deco and
people.
Marria and I were in the process of bending a long
piece of grey PVC into a circle - fitting both ends
into a 4-way coupling we had brought. This was to be
one half the hanging sphere that hopefully some people
saw. We had one half done and were moving onto the
second half. One end went into the coupling and as we
were bending to make the final connection, one of the
ends broke free and whipped back into its natural form
- i.e. straight! Sadly, Marria's face just happened to
be along the line that the PVC had judged "shortest
distance to au natural."
With a loud "SLAP" the PVC whipped Marria in the
face like a cobra striking and she went down in a heap
with a smile on her face. Those who saw it happen,
immediately began laughing. I myself let out a huge
howl and even did a little play-by-play to make Howard
Cosell proud "And DOWN goes Swizzlee! DOWN goes
Swizzlee!"
With her hand on her forehead, Marria stood up
giggling to the delight of the handful of people who'd
come over to see what happened. We were all expecting
to keep laughing and use the event for some
chitter-chatter over coffee at the Dragons when we'd
all be so gone that anything funny would seem more
like a George Carlin routine and much less like
small-talk.
If we could have only been so lucky! Marria took
her hand off her forehead to reveal a GAPING gash
underneath. Blood streamed (and that's no hyperbole)
down over her eyebrows, behind her sunglasses, and
onto her nose and upper lip. Terrified at the sheer
volume of blood, Marria panicked and sat back down.
Nobody was laughing anymore. Especally me, who
desperately searched through the truck for a rag,
towel, or clean T-shirt to put over the wound while
others dug through boxes and near the stage for the
same. Care for their peer drove people to remove their
own sweaty clothes and offer them up. Tapestries and
deco materials were thrown towards her and a state of
sympathetic (and empathetic) outpouring ensued.
Leave it to Joanne.... The collective mindset
lasted all of 45 seconds before the seemingly
omnicient maternal figure of our little community
calmly produced a full RED CROSS First Aid kit.
Sending her daughter's friend to the tent with stern
direction, the messenger returned on winged feet with
precious cargo in hand. Cold Compresses were applied,
anti-septic washes were administered, and a clean
dressing was installed. Like driving out of the garage
- Marria sat down on a blanket free of blood and
feeling much better. Had it not been for some quick
thinking, the wound most likely would have required
stitches.

.......fast forward ahead - approximately 48 hours....
It's Saturday morning. Loopus in Fabula had just
wrapped up his set - a bouncy bonky fun-fest like only
Loopus can provide. Of course, he was greatly
overshadowed by those who preceeded him; namely,
D-Space. But more on that later. Marria and I are
sitting at the coffee dragons with... honestly, I can
hardly remember. Possibly Marria's friend, Kate, from
Australia. Possibly Pat and Melanie, the young lovers
from Philly; possibly AJ, or Thomas, or Patrick....was
Eg. Bot there? Maybe Theo was waxing philosophical? I
don't really remember...
Anyway - we're sitting at the Dragons' Tent,
enjoying a cup of java when we see a young boy
wandering around the tent and causing a commotion like
boys of his age are known to do. None of us was really
watching all too closely, but hearing the shreiks,
laughter, and "stop thats" coming from near the Mead
table made us think it was all in good fun.
For one reason or another, I finally did turn
around. Maybe having some kind of nostalgic yearn
about the age when throwing mud and spilling people's
coffee was considered "cute." I watched this young lad
interact with a girl his age, tapping her on the head
and pulling at her pony-tails. "Ahh, puppy love" I
thought and my mind turned home to my puppy, Lester,
who was - at that very moment I later found - riding
shotgun while Marria's mom operated a paddleboat on
Lake Sacandaga. I turned my attention back to the boy
just in time to see him rear back and land a brutal
right-cross to the jaw of his female companion. I
mean, this was a shot of Olympic porportions - with a
sharp and crisp follow through. This was the kind of
shot Roy Jones Jr. was landing at will in the 1988
Seoul Summer games - especially in his "loss" (lol) to
Park-Sei-Han - and the kind of shot he used to lay-out
many an opponent throughout his glorious pro career.
The girl, stunned like a character from Mortal Kombat,
paused a moment, collapsed to the ground and began to
cry uncontrollably. Everyone, myself included, was
dumbfounded!
The girl's guardian quickly scooped her up and
protected her from a further barrage, while two or
three elders swooped in to coral the boy.
As the girl wailed - and I mean WAILED
"Ittai!...Itaii! (or Ohhhh...it hurts! It hurts! in
Japanese)" I glanced over at the boy and saw
something. I saw my own nostalgia. I saw my own
childhood. I saw myself. The boy was LAUGHING. But it
wasn't a nervous laugh. It wasn't a mocking laugh - or
even a laugh he tried to control. It was open,
genuine, and pure. It was the kind of laughter we
create and hear watching a funny movie. It was the
kind of laughter I laughed when Manny Ramirez cut-off
Johnny Damon's throw from centerfield in a 2004 Sox
game. It was the kind of laughter we laugh when our
best friend tells a good joke and the kind of laughter
I laughed during "the umpire scene" in the movie
"Naked Gun." The boy was laughing at the situation. He
was laughing WITH the rest of us - but he was the only
one still in touch with those emotions, now buried in
us all through the experiences of death, suffering,
and sadness.
I'm sure he too has experienced all those things,
but he didn't let the fill completely cover his light.
He didn't let the detritis pile up past the point
where a good broom or a mild solvent could wipe it
away. His very being simply melted away the memory of
experience and he lived at the purest level.
It made me think back to Marria - especially seeing
the look of raw fear in the face of the girl's
guardian. It was the fear only seen in the face of
someone who genuinely cares. I felt wat she was
feeling the moment I saw blood streaming down Marria's
face - and now I was feeling something else entirely
while wishing, on some other level, that I could laugh
the same way the young boy was.
I never got the names or identities of anyone
involved in this and really, that doesn't even matter.
Like a messenger, the boy said to me - "C'mon, dude!
LAUGH and don't stop! Even when things seem bad or
dangerous or scary, just LAUGH!" It is the purest and
most genuine human response to any situation. I
thought of Jeff Wittmore and his constant referall to
Zoroaster - the main figure of Zoroastrianism who, as
legend would have it, came out of the womb laughing. I
harkened back to Nietszche, whose prose screams of the
"eternal affirmation" - a state of mind where a person
only says "yes" - a state of mind where the dualities
between "good" and "bad" - "right" and "wrong" melt
away into one seamless reality where everything "just
is." Maybe it's Bill Belichick after all whose got the
nature of our existence down to six words - "It is
what it is." And to the end of that, I scream out "so
just laugh with it!"

The two events were one because they lead me to a
lesson that only strong relaxation and a group of
close friends ever could - a lesson I can hardly
listen to now in my late twenties and feeling the pull
towards starting "the next phase" - whatever that
means. Anxiety about once again owning a pet. The fear
of buying a loft and being tied to a mortgage. The
fear of a time when my brain can no longer absorb
anything new. The fear of "the everyday" and the idea
that I may not have evolved enough to find joy in what
Heidegger so aptly calls "everydayness." I need
stimulation to extreme levels and I can't bear to
think that I'm limping towards a time when I'll no
longer respond to mild (or even moderate) stimuli.
I started asking myself "what happened?" - both
during the last few days and the last few years. Why
didn't i keep laughing when Marria was bleeding? When
did I start LIKING getting up at 5:00AM and going to
work in a sweaty machine shop each day? When did start
thinking that a 30K down payment "wasn't that much"
and signing a 30 year mortgage wasn't that big a deal?
When did I stop laughing and start fearing? When did I
get so attached to people and things that I lost a
level of my own personal independence? Was there ONE
event? Was there one moment? When did a 50 hour work
week become the norm and when did I start looking
forward to weekends not for the trance parties but
instead to simply NOT be at work? When did I get to
the point where I couldn't fit everything I own into
the back of an automobile? When did I stop abusing
myself just to prove I was alive? When did I forget
the final paragraph of "Being and Nothingness?" When
did I forget the first? Questions flooded out of me
all catalyzed by my simple inability to KEEP LAUGHING
- like a divine child - just KEEP LAUGHING!!

The rest of the party was nothing more than an
abundance of amazing conversations and incredible
synchronicity. Almost as if everyone I spoke to knew
how I felt and could comment on my questions in their
own special way. Jeff Whitmore - the village
madman/genius - said "I can't believe it! You weld for
US! You don't weld for The Man! You do it for US!" By
"US", I assumed he meant the trance community and I
took the comment as a HUGE boost of encouragement.
Dave EgBot, Rory, and Pat Karmakanik jokingly
called out to me as I was leaving a chill-out session
"Wait Dave - come back! We need to discuss some very
serious business here. We're being serious and need to
organize some schedules and plan some projects!"
Almsot mocking my trip and saying - "You can stay
here, Dave. Hang out with us! None of us is laughing
either!
Theo took a funny comment regarding a girl who
could "manifest clothing" and took it to new levels -
thinking aloud how he could somehow market her
abilities and Dan Covan flashed a face of grim
disapproval when I attempted to make a joke on the
dancefloor but came off as though I was making an
insult. It was the kind of face that simply said "Hey!
First get your laughter back - and THEN you can make
the jokes!" And that shot me to thoughts of Sheri
Spiegal - a girl I haven't spoken to in almost a year,
but remains someone who I hold in the same regards as
all those I truly and divinely love. In a similar
phase of life, Sheri once said "I think I've lost my
sarcastic tone - you know, like my funny voice. I can
usually drop a joke in there - sometimes vulgar or
perverted or whatever - and everyone knows I'm
kidding. I've been trying to do that lately and people
give me these nasty looks - like I'm being serious or
something. I need to get that tone back, man! I need
to be funny again!" Phish-lot wisdom on the surface -
but a life truth underneath.
So yeah.... LAUGH! And don't stop! And don't
let rough times make you sad and serious. Don't dwell
and know how you like to feel and try to make others
feel the same way! It was a festival... It was Gaian
Mind... As we stand now, I don't know if I've been
laughing more or less than I was a couple weeks ago.
I'm not sure if anything has changed. But as I write
this - and become aware of my intensity and paralyzing
concern which characterized the last few months of my
life - I know that simply being aware of something
means I've stood outside it, objectified it, and now
have the ability to consciously choose what exactly to
do with it. As we all know so well - "to name
something is to negate it. To be aware of something is
to destroy its infinite nature."

On a level outside my own stupid introspection and
Virgoan tendencies - this year was one of the best as
far as organization, artwork, and cleanliness go.
After my last GM SF review, I'm proud to say that
Marria and I collected and separated all the trash
from the North Crook stage and "river campsites" - and
it was *ALL* surprising well separated ALREADY! Major
thanks to everyone down there who kept the trash and
recycling apart and who, beyond our wildest dreams,
actually SORTED the recycling as well! Mega cheers to
Charlie, Steve & Kathy, Mio, Jeremy, James the welder,
and EVERYONE on the trash/recycling crew. And major
thanks to everyone who kept mindful of their personal
trash and kept it seperate and under control! :-)
Musically, this year's lineup wasn't as enticing as
this festival has come to be known for... well, from
MY OWN personal point of view. Without a true
"progressive" artist from the likes of Iboga, Digital
Structures, Plusquam, or the likes - it was difficult
to plan around that ONE ACT we REALLY wanted to hear.
And maybe that's why we found this year's music so
enjoyable!! Marria and I both made rough plans aimed
at hearing the two emerging American producers;
Asheville's "Shape Static" and Connecticut's "D-Space"
(aka M-Field, aka Alpha Channel and Equisol.) While
hoping to get our ears around Human Blue, Loopus, and
Dickster. Well, Marria was lucky enough to follow
through on those plans where I was only able to
execute a percentage.
After hearing Marria talk incessantly about how
clean and rich Shape Static's set was - I knew I would
not be denied from hearing D-Space. And, as everyone
on that dancefloor KNOWS now, those guys did not
disappoint and further established themselves as
having the sound and ability to be rated among the
finest producers in the world. A little more exposure
and a few more sets like that and we could see an
American live-act playing to crowds across the
Atlantic and below the equator! Without question, I
would say D-Space's set was my favorite of the whole
festival.

I met J and Steve quite a few years back and was
instantly impressed. I love telling the story about
dancing at a party in Club Mundo.. The music stopped
momentarily and people cheered signifying the end of
one set and the start of another. When the sound
started again, I started dancing. After a few tracks,
and knowing that Tomasz Balicki was at the party to do
a DJ set, I turned to Marria and asked "Is Atmos
playing live right now?" She looked up at the stage
and could faintly make out J's smiling face. She
turned back and said "No. This is D-SPACE!!" The sound
and production were just THAT GOOD!
Since then, J and Steve have lived in different
states, produced under the respective solo projects
"Alpha Channel" and "Equisol." They've had tracks
released on labels like Soular and Psy Booty. J joined
San Francisco based Rob-Ot and formed M-Field - a
superior project whose debut record "Current of Life"
can be heard in DJ sets all over the continent. It
wasn't until a year ago, when Steve moved back to
Connecticut, that the D-Space project gained its new
momentum.
Over the years, I've gotten many demos, tracks,
and CD's from J and Steve. Some have been excellent,
some not so much. Some I've played in DJ sets, others
never. But I feel really lucky to be part of a
progression which, to my ears, reached a thunderous
cresendo that Saturday morning! It is without
hyperbole that I say "these guys have improved by a
factor of ten thousand over the course of the last
couple years." Their sound is funky yet deep - and
very danceable. And their live set, which is exactly
that - a living organism charaterised by live
arrangements and on-the-fly mixing - is superior. Even
with the awful limitations Four Quarters gave them as
far as the sound system went, they were able to play
which, in my opinion, was the FINEST and most audibly
pleasing set of the festival.
Tracks like MoonSault and it's little "guitar
twang" had booty's shaking. While deeper tracks like
"Focus" "Deep Freeze" got the heads bobbing and the
feet moving. What made the set brilliant was the fact
that it wasn't just a series of J and Steve's tracks -
but instead, a series of mixes featuring elements from
all their tracks - mixed masterfully; never allowed to
go "too long" and always leaving the dancefloor
wanting "just one more round!" J's ability to run
elements through filter chains and effects loops
showed its strength as he made Nick Binary's Sonic
Beating Sound System (SBSS) hum, growl, and breath
like no other artists could. Even at 90db, sounds
seemed to come from the trees; the coffee dragons, and
from under the stage. The music was alive,
three-dimensional, and multi-directional. And I WASN"T
EVEN TRIPPING!!! :-)
In fact, what made the set all the more impressive
was the fact that Human Blue - one of the original
pioneers of the "scando" sound going back to the
original compilations from Spiral Trax- played his
live-set directly before D-Space was scheduled to
play. Normally, this would be a great thing as you'd
expect the dance floor to be PACKED after a set from
such a genius. The problem, as I was informed by
Andrei, was this: Human Blue was forced to use a
laptop he had borrowed from a party-goer as his was
unable to make the trip from Sweden - sure enough,
that laptop crashed about five minutes into the set.
Had it not been for some sweet McGuyver work from
sound guys Nick, Ammon, and Lou - and some fast acting
manuevers from Human Blue himself - then the set may
have never happened. Honestly, I don't have the
details, but I guess Human Blue was somehow able to
use the soundcard on Nick's laptop and send his tracks
through that card and into the amplified system.
Though this made for a linear, limited, and
semi-lifeless "glorified DJ set" - it at least gave us
all a taste of of the master's work and showed just
how savvy and technologically advanced these artists
and sound-crews have to be!
Regardless - on a human level - without the
background info - the set was just that - kind of
"boring" and kind of a "disappointment." The dancing
slowed to a minimum and most people stood on the
dancefloor or even pulled up camping chairs and
blankets in the back. The music was solid, but it
wasn't all it could be and people didn't seem to get
their grooves on to it.
This left D-Space in an interesting position. A
Stone Circle full of people and not that many
dancing... If you were there, you all know what
happened next. In the end, it was Loopus in Fabula
(who played another excellent "bonky" set after
D-Space) who inherited a dancefloor on cruise control
- head bobbing, foot stomping, and yelling for more!
Even with Loopus' killer set, I could have listened to
D-Space standing in that stone circle for another four
hours!
So I didn't get to hear ShapeStatic, but if other
reviews and their INSANE debut CD (which I made Marria
buy me because I missed their set doing her, in part,
a huge favor) are any indication; then they were right
on par with Yab-Yum as far as dancefloor madness and
clean production goes! If you didn't see Kri walking
around with his "backpack of sketch" -peddling copies
of their album from within - then you need to get in
touch with him and get a copy. Both Shape Static and
D-Space produce like "they've got something to prove."
They have cut no corners, taken no shortcuts, skipped
any details, or left any sound uncritiqued. In the
end, their METICULOUS hunt for perfection has left us
one fully published CD ("Metaphim") from ShapeStatic
and one forthcoming album, yet to be named, from
D-Space. These are "must haves" for anyone tired of
artists pumping out the "same stuff" and taking "the
easy road" to producing a CD.

But perhaps my favorite moment of the party took
place at the top of the hill near the entrance to the
4Q valley... (Granted - I could write pages and pages
of "moments" like these - but this one stands out.)
Friday evening, Marria and I had walked to the parking
lot just to take a walk. On our way there, we noticed
a young Russian couple camping well away from the rest
of the campsites - like hermits. It wasn't until we
saw "their kids" that we figured out why. Somehow,
they didn't know the rules about bringing dogs to the
festival (which MUST be addressed next year! Maybe a
"dog area" in the shady part of the upper meadow?) and
showed up with their two furry four-leggeds. A
beautiful white American Staffordshire who wanted to
chase sticks and chew logs - and docile friendly
3-year old black and while Pit Bull mix... Marria and
I played with the dogs for a while, gave them some
water to drink, and hung around with them all for a
spell.. It was amazing to see those dogs as I was
already missing my own little Lester...
Later in the festival, Lauren (who, along with
Marria, fire-hooped for the first time this weekend
and cried in joy afterwards) and I were walking to the
cars in an attempt to find a friend we'd lost... On
our way back, we were walking past the campsite with
the dogs... The tent was closed up tight and no humans
or canines were visible.. Seeing as my "secret agenda"
for the walk had backfired, I turned to Lauren and
said "Oh shit! There are two awesome dogs living here
with a young couple. I was kind of hoping to see
them..." After a few jokes and a few more complaints,
we were almost past the campsite completely. Just
then, we heard no-rip nylon start to shake and a
zipper break open. Sure enough - out of the tent came
bursting the two dogs, followed closely by their
owners who looked like they were just getting up from
a nap. Another little chill-out ensued and we all went
our ways feeling siked. I never got the name of the
young couple and they had left when I went back to say
goodbye on Sunday, but if anyone knows them (or if
they are reading this) - I want to send a sincere and
huge THANK YOU! Its "the little things" that make or
break these parties. Having those two dogs there - and
your willingness to let people hang with them - were
two things that really MADE this party for me.

So yeah --- what else to say? Critics sit down.
Nay-sayers return to the darkness! Apologies to anyone
who missed this glorious event! From Geo-desic domes,
to magnificient blacklit tapestries, lycra, and
string! From smiling, dancing people to PERFECT
weather! From clean port-o-lous, to the life-producing
sound system. From the coffee dragons to Daniel
Pinchbeck and from the Fox Altar to the upper meadows!
I can only hope that this event continues on and on
into the years to come!

THANK YOU SHARON, ALLEN, JEREMY, DAVE, RORY, PAT, MEL
and the WHOLE GAIAN MIND CREW!!

THANK YOU EITAN, MIO, STEVE-O, ANYA, MARRIA, BEN
LIGHT-O-MATIC, and anyone involved in any of the
artwork on both stages!

THANK YOU TONY, LAUREN, RON, THEO, STEVE and all those
crazy folks who battled major heat and obstacles to
put up the dome...

THANK YOU TO ALL THE MUSIC ARTISTS who did what they
do best and THANK YOU to the sound guys, NICK, AMMON,
and LOU who worked their asses off.

THANK YOU TO THE WHOLE 4Q STAFF - especially big James
the Welder - for tireless work at the ability to solve
problems "on-the-fly."

AND THANKS TO THE COFFEE DRAGONS - without whom I'd
have had a headache all weekend! :-) :-)

see you next year I hope!

28thday invites you back to our favorite and only stronghold of groovularity in the heart of Manhattan's clubland... following the success of last month's party with DJ Pena, we're continuing our residency this coming weekend -- now with three sound systems!

in CoSMosis:

BLUE SPECTRAL MONKEY (TOUCH Samadhi | Interchill, NC)

One of the most versatile psyslingers on the east coast, Monkey navigates with ease a wide spectrum of psy. In addition to his prominent place in one of the region's strongest crews, Monkey is also an Interchill-anointed chillmaster and one half of the new live psy project Medimonks. At this gathering Monkey will share a careful selection of prime cuts from his full-on collection, including some original Medimonks material!

CORAL (TOUCH Samadhi, NYC) v LAURYN (Peak Records | 28thday, NYC)

HUGH SHARPE (28thday, NYC)

Visionary projections by SPOT (Spotworks, NYC)
www.spotworks.com | www.electricsheep.org

Spot is the creator of the mindbending AI phenomenon Electric Sheep. Spot's visuals are the product of thousands of PCs all over the world working together through distributed processing, collectively creating the patterns from which Spot builds his super high-resolution show. Contrary to Hollywood's evocations of a dystopian future in which AI networks plan the destruction of mankind, Spot's work enables those already in existence to send a message that peaceful co-existence is possible. In his own words, "Electric Sheep is a gift from the machine elves to us: a gift of Beauty."

Decor by ZOOB! (BSM & Doodlebug)

in the progway:

EQUISOL (Psybooty Records, CT) - Ableton Live Set

Steve Equisol is one half of D-Space, whose mastery of sonic manipulation has made them a mainstay of many past 28thday events. Now Steve returns to NYC to share with us an Ableton set comprised of his solo work, D-Space material, and select cuts from his very, very thick CD book.

EARTHIAN (Omnitribe, NYC)

MAYUR (Spectra, NYC)

TONY UNORTHODOX (28thday, NYC)

Visuals by ALCHEMISM (28thday, NYC)

Decor by PHARMAMAGUS (28thday, NYC)

and in MicroCoSM:

FOTO PHRONTIERS
www.microcosmgallery.com/fotophrontiers | www.psythos.com

This weekend marks the opening of Foto Phrontiers, an exhibit featuring work from none other then the infamous Eli Morgan! Eli has been a part of the New York Trance community since 1997 and began organizing parties with Alex Grey in 2001. Much of his art has been inspired by what he feels lies beyond reality. Psytrance has played a key role in the development Eli's artist style. "Trance parties are very often where I have visions on what I want to create." As a visionary artist Eli uses a camera and computer to capture images of the world as he sees it. His delving into the psychedelic consciousness has left him with a deep desire to, in his words, "search for a forgotten truth." At this exhibit he shares the walls of MicroCoSM with six other outstanding photographers: Nancy Burson, Sequoia Emmanuelle, Zena Grey, Dean Chamberlain, Dercik Ion and Andrew Zuckerman.

Soundscapes in MicroCoSM provided by:

PEDRO (Reality Engine | Interchill Records | CoSM , NYC) - Ableton Live Set
www.kymastream.com

Originally from Brazil, Pedro plays and produces free style tribal grooves. His wide ranging musical sensibility gives him the ability to create the right atmosphere for a pleasant and deep experience in any setting. After many events in his native country and 3 years of gigs in the US, Pedro has established himself as one of the most influential downtempo artists in the scene today, a position that has earned him his right to the many hats he wears: he currently serves as resident DJ and events coordinator at CoSM, as a label DJ for premier downtempo label Interchill Records, and is a key element of the audio-visual company Reality Engine.

KIFE (Omnitribe, NYC)

USTAS (Omnitribe, NYC)

Sound by 28thday

Saturday April 7, 2007
Chapel of Sacred Mirrors
11PM - 5AM $15
TDC Presents: "Psychedelic Trance Party"
Saturday, January 27, 2007
@ REBEL (former Downtime)

****************
* Main Stage *
****************

*** Polyphonia (Trishula Records, TDC Production - Greece) - LIVE SET ***

Polyphonia is the solo project of Romolo Cheri. After some years of metal and hardcore music, he discovered psytrance in 1995 and was instantly addicted to the full energy outdoor parties around Greece and Goa. He brings to us his uncompromising twisted and psychedelic music.

*** Mubali (Trishula Records, Mistress of Evil Records - California/Chicago) - LIVE SET ***

Greg Farley has been involved in the psychedelic trance scene in Northern California for over 5 years. After several years of being a dj and event coordinator, he began to produce his own music in the summer of 2003. Assisted and influenced by San Francisco artists such as Quasar, Ocelot, the Nommos, Chromatone, and Penta. Mubali's music began appearing on various labels like Mistress of Evil Records, Geomagnetic TV, Trishula Records, Insomnia Recs, and Manic Dragon Recs. In March of 2006, Trishula Records released Mubali's debut full length titled "Cats at Play." His music style can be called nighttime, aggressive, psychedelic music, and this year he has been doing a lot of collaborations with many artists such as Naked Tourist, Highko, Arahat, Bodhisattva 13:20, and Electrypnose. Be prepared for his sonic onslaught and holographic textures.

*** MuteX (TDC Underground - NYC) ***

Master engineer, expert journey-maker, TDC Crew member Gabriel is mixing together a recipe of psychedelic mayhem to power up the night.

*** Eg_bot & Mescalinium (Gaian Mind, PSI - Philadelphia/NYC) ***

Having recently blown up dancefloors from Boston to Asheville, these two trance veterans are once again setting their sights on the big apple. Expect a dark and twisted full power journey from two of philly's phinest. Smooth yet crunchy, raw yet refined, psychedelicious and immensely satisfying. The sound of the Philly Underground!

*** Lauryn (Peak Records, 28thDay - NYC) - DJ Set ***

Lauryn's passion for music has been a constant all her life. She began playing the violin when she was 9 years old. Her love of music led her to begin djing and producing her own psytrance radio show while attending college. In 2002, Lauryn moved to Boston where she helped start Psyforia. Recently relocated to New York City, Lauryn is a label dj with Peak Rec (Switzerland) and is affiliated with 28thday(NYC) and Mistical Productions(Texas). In the past six years, Lauryn has played across the US, in Canada and Europe, sharing the stage with many well-known international acts. She is known for her energetic, nighttime, funky full-on, delic sets, as well as the occasional morning progressive grooves.

Those of you who joined us for Organic Sunrise may recall Voice of Cod’s ridiculously killargh morning set, which was so good that we spotted people in the corner throwing back valiums... and many of you basked in the sunny goodness of the Paradigm beach party, Best of the West 5. We now merge these concepts for our last open-air of the season...

28thday presents

on our own dune

featuring musical assistance from:

Colin OOOD (Voice of Cod | Organic Records | Triskele, UK) - sunrise set
Mukti (TDC, NYC)
Matyas (Reality Engine, NYC)
Tony Unorthodox (28thday, NYC)
Coral (Touch Samadhi, NYC)

and a special psygressive set from:
Lauryn (28thday | Alkaloid Records, Boston)

decor by Uta Bekaia (Georgia)
sound by dandraver
powered by psyNY and DMT

This is another rsvp-only event, so if you wish to attend you know the drill... send an e-mail to party@28thday.com for times, directions, and continuing updates.
