Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Sat, November 8, 2003 - 6:32 PMI've always worn sunglasses - my eyes cannot stand even overcast days, they are so sensitive. Without sunglasses, I'm nearly blind on bright days. And I tend to keep my home dim as well (I also happen to have excellent night vision).

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Sun, November 16, 2003 - 6:26 PMI rarely wear sunglasses. The clip-ons for my glasses broke and I haven't replaced them.
I do sneeze everytime I go out into the bright sun. -

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Thu, February 19, 2004 - 6:17 AMFunny you mentioned sneezing, so I do, generally twice. I know a guy who is blond/blue. He sneezes continuously unless he wears sunglasses.
I used to wear sunglasses, but I decided to let my eye adjust to natural lighting. However, I tend to use candle light instead of electricy for house lighting. -

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Fri, February 20, 2004 - 1:46 AMWow! Me too (not continuously...twice)! I feel that the human body is an extremely adaptable organism...I do still wear sunglasses when confronted with direct sun light, but since I sleep in the day, only occasionaly. But big stores and malls are a challenge. No bulbs above 60 watts in my house.

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Thu, December 18, 2003 - 11:39 PMAccording to AllAboutVision.com, ". . . people with lighter-colored eyes. . . are more likely to notice sensitivity to light and glare." (www.allaboutvision.com/condit...ve.htm)
The article adds that "Some medications may cause light sensitivity as a side effect, including belladonna, furosemide, quinine, tetracycline and doxycycline." Quinine is found in tonic water, which seems to suggest that drinking a bunch of gin-and-tonic can induce light-sensitivity. -

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Mon, February 16, 2004 - 3:04 PMI have heard that people with light eyes are also more sensitive to clutter and mess. I don't know about you, but I can't stand to see clutter. It irritates the hell out of me. -

Wed, February 18, 2004 - 10:41 AMBlanket on the window (just in the sleep room), and some light linen clutter. Light sux, clutter is natural. Is it me, or is it impossible to find really dark sunglasses anymore?

Thu, July 13, 2006 - 4:17 PMnot!!!
most people I know that have blue eyes have very cluttered houses the dark eyed people i know tend to have clean uncluttered houses! I think it all depends to what your used to living in a mess or clean slate. people don't see things diffriently because there eye colour is different!

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Wed, November 21, 2007 - 2:34 AMIt's true. Light eyes are more sensitive to light. That's why Africans have darker eyes than Scandinavians.

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Sat, August 30, 2008 - 10:05 PMMost definitely. Just think of where in the world light eyes dominate, areas visited by the Norsemen (Northmen). Although a few light eyes popup in the Middle East and even Mongolia, NO light eyes are found near the Equator, anywhere.

I had a lens removed and was ordered to wear sunglasses to protect that eye from UV. No problem. I was ALWAYS very light sensitive. (I have light green eyes.)

While in elementary school, I remember being confused as to why the other kids could charge right out onto the sunlit, sandy playground while tears streamed down my face. On the other hand, I have better night vision than most. -

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Tue, September 2, 2008 - 12:02 PMSame here. I must wear sunglasses all year around. I describe the intensity of the feeling as if you had white noise on your stereo up to full ear-splitting volume, except in my eyes.
But the compensation is that I can see in the dark, in color. -

Re: light eyes vs. dark eyes
Sun, August 31, 2008 - 7:58 PMBesides medicines, and being blue eyed, photosensitivity and chronic dry eye (which can make the light issue worse) can be caused by auto-immune disorders too. -

Re: on the vampire thing, WRONG!
Sat, April 18, 2009 - 5:26 AMI have dark blue eyes that almost appear black and i am extremely sensitive to sunlight. If I go out, even in late afternoon to dusk, I still need sunglasses. I don't think that color has anything to do with sensitivity. -
-
Re: on the vampire thing, WRONG!
Mon, April 20, 2009 - 4:32 AMYuki, are you taking any medications? You don't have to answer that, just think about it. Some meds do cause sensitivity to light. Yes, eye color does make a difference in whether you have sensitivity to light and can see well at night, but so does health and age.

Tue, April 21, 2009 - 11:58 AMI totes have to wear sunglasses, even if its just hazy and bright out, or I get headaches.
Yup....and now I am known for having, like 50 pairs because you have to be prepared for all levels of light, and of course, one must match one's sunglasses with one's outfit, right? LOL -
