Re: Black pepper
Tue, November 7, 2006 - 6:45 AMHey simbad, your not the only one I am allergic to black pepper when I eat it I get really bad cramps and sometimes I find it harder to breathe. There is no real test for it, that I have heard of anyway. it is a rare allergy and a lot people think your kidding when you tell them but I told the cook on base and her cousin is also allergic to pepper and has to carry an epipen. I would go see your doctor to get a epipen just in case you need it, also i wear a medic alert braclet with the allergy on it, in case I can't breath or talk from it.

Re: Black pepper
Thu, October 4, 2007 - 2:21 AMI just typed the whole thing out describing my symptoms etc.
Suffice to say I get crampls burning in my stomach and intestinal problems, yes immediate evacuation.
I am allergic to ALL pepper, white yellow red green black chiles etc. even paparika.
Well tonight a lady in the restaurant heard my order and told me she is also allergic to pepper.
She also gets flack from her freinds, OH I NEVER HEARD OF THAT!, They think she is crazy.
Well I guess it can happen to anyone.
I acquired this about 5 years ago when the building I worked in had a flood from a roof cave in. I got sicker and sicker and finally had to quite. I was allergic to mold and believe the had not eradicated all the mold and mildews in the building, carpet walls or vents.
when I quit 1 year later I stopped getting sick when I worked in a clean building.
Although now after 5 years I am still allergic to pepper. Some people think it is from Heat, yet I can eat hot horse radish, wasabe and red radishes with no symptoms, so I know it is pepper as the culprit
Good luck,
Kari
