Re: At the BLUELAMP....
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 7:49 PMThe upon arrival wine was great. I usually come equipped, but not this time....Saw some guys drinking wine that night too, and thats my kind of crew, there. :)
Show was fantastic energy, really nice and schwippy schwappy, genres were definitely bent and thats a great thing. The opening band Abandon Theory was awesome, too. My kind of stuff, and I dont get to see it that often (except with turtle maybe), so this show was a breath of fresh air for me. All around....I also heard some Sacto Alterna sounds in all the music, which was great for me to experience. I have had a wierd thing with Sac since I 'became a noodle happy hippy' like 10 years ago...I feel so detached from it. Used to see some fun jammy music at HArlows a few years back, but the vibe was always a little vacant.....but all it takes is crews, tribes, coming together and doing it UP. Since I have been seeing bits of Blue Turtle and Izabella down there, its been much warmer. BUT.....those bands are so Nevada City to me, and really incorporate the TAHOE and SIERRA sound...Izzy more of the city sound, too......but it was REALLY COOL to get with a Valley/Mountain blend with 2Me, but more on the Sac side. I used to see so many punk and indie shows down there when I was a youngin like even in the 80s......but the hippy scene since has been so different. Now, its as if they are pleasantly blending like its nobodys business. I love the regions around us....the Ten Mile Tide 2 Me party was a huge breakthru for me since I do love the regional communities and contemplating it all.
I know that was a total ME stoner ramble there, but thought I would share some innards with you dorks!! Great times......thank you Reid and my wood bee girls for gettingmy ass down there and being great hosts. It was fun to spend more time with new friends like Martina and Brandon and Zeek, too.
ANd now we can all vouch that Sierra Schwag Sucks!!! -
