sigh Ringworm

So, I'm pretty sure I have ringworm. There's an ugly red circular patch on my inner right arm that looks like somebody touched me with the lit end of a cigar. I started treating it with my husband's old spray can of Tinactin for athlete's foot, because apparently it's the same sort of fungus (ringworm is not a worm). I don't know how I got it. I work a lot with animals at the SPCA, but I haven't been there for a month since I've been working part time. Maybe I got it at the job? Hot sweaty work. I really don't want to have to go to the doctor for something that's less than a square inch of my body, but I know it's really contagious.

Has anybody here every had it? Any luck with treating it with over-the-counter remedies?

Also, ringworm is not the same thing as roundworm, which is a real worm. But go ahead and google roundworm images if you want to be totally grosse out.

I used to have awesome legs. Dancing, exercise and genes gave me remarkable gams. But I'm out of shape. Neglecting your body is a terrible thing. It's hard for me to exercise because of various factors, including embarrassment and hopelessness. But I decided to go for a groupon on horse riding lessons.

Today I rode with an English Saddle for the first time. If you're used to the Western Saddle, the English looks ridiculously microscopic, and when you really get moving, there's nothing to hold onto, just an instructor telling you do use your legs. When I got off after 45 minutes squeezing that horse, my legs were made of jello.

It's hot today, and I got so faint after riding that I had to lie down in a pile of California oak leaves. We couldn't get back to the stables anyhow because the way was blocked by a delivery of hay bales. I can't believe I have 3 more lessons this month. I think we've agreed to go slower and spend more time on "horse maintenance". I'm so out of shape. But at least I did it. :-)

I was just on my patio at 3AM, when I thought I had just seen one of the large all white tom cats (that hang around) cross my back yard. Realizing it moved un-cat like, but more like a raccoon. It was also much larger than known tom cats here. As it moved feet towards me, I noticed the un-cat like face, and large rear hind quarters. I startled it by calling to it, and took a step forward. It turned, and galloped (only descriptive I can muster) away.
Is it probable for cats, and raccoon's to mate?
WTF animal did I see loose in Memphis? Looked like something out of NGTV.
No I wasn't drugged...

I am Wicked, come from FaceBook, come back to tell you all, I shall tell you all.

So, it's getting a little sad here at Tribe, feeling a little like one of the last people at the party, circling an almost empty room. So I decided to hold my nose and really try FaceBook. And I hate it. It is just awful.

First, I had to friend my sister-in-law, who is uber-Christian and runs a bible camp. Her frequent posts are so sugary my teeth hurt. and her icon is her own eye, staring at me all the time. I know she knows I'm a godless heathen, and worse - I don't like the Backstreet Boys. Then I found a guy who used to be sweet on me in college. But he cheated on me during the brief period we were an item (with the minor sister of his best friend), was dishonorably discharged from the Navy for cheating on a test, and a couple years later when he came to visit me in California, he "borrowed" my car during the night without asking, failed to lock it, and everything was stolen from inside. Last I heard he was medicating himself with Lidocaine he got from a doctor by blackmailing him. But now he's a rich doctor practicing in SF, living in Burlingame. Then I found a guy I knew in high school. That's all he did - graduated from high school. Never went to college. His primary activity is fishing and rock concerts. But he has over 300 friends on FB.

So, I guess what I'm saying is Facebook sure as hell doesn't tell you everything about a person, despite using real names. Neither does Tribe, I'm sure, but I just can't reconcile the real people I knew to the face they're putting on on FB. It's sickening. I prefer the fantasy here. Most people stay in character here, and that's kind of what Tribe is for. I don't know. I just wish people would come back to Tribe. I love all of you who have stayed, I just miss the big party.

Horrible Headache

So my digestive system decided to stop working yesterday. Terrible decsending colon pain and tummy as hard as a rock. So I stopped eating. I couldn't even brush my teeth, I was so nauseated. Now today I've apparently lost 6 pounds and have the worst headache. I'm guessing it's from dehydration. I've been pooping a lot but not peeing. Is it possible to have a headache so bad you think about cutting off your head? I was thinking of removing my guts yesterday. I wish body parts were removable.

PMS

I'm sure PMS symptoms have been discussed here before, but I'm wondering if other people consider changing their schedule because of it. I'm so emotional right now, I'm afraid to get behind the wheel or deal wih public transportation, because I might just snap at someone. I got so emotional on Monday walking the dogs at the spca that I almost burst into tears. Sort of like watching "Legends of the Fall" or "A River Runs thru It" while on full emotional tilt - actually kind of a good, beautiful and sad cry at the same time.

Today I'm staying home and cleaning house, baking stuff and doing laundry. This is making me feel good and all mother-earthy, but I feel just a bit guilty abot cancelling an appointment and a coffee get together with a friend. But I know I would have been miserable if I had forced myself to do it, and I might have done or said something stupid.

This is just a warning. Next week I am going to post pictures on the first step to cure this disease.
If you really do not want TMI on this one I suggest you look it up.
There will be pictures of the cure as the doctor has promised that I am allowed to snap stills of the proceedure.
Basically at this point he has bruised his arm trying to withdraw the 25ga needle, the needle was so securely imbedded in the plaque that his arm hit the wall and bruised his elbow getting the needle out!
I have SO many one liners running through my mind right now that I just cannot help myself.
Today he bent 2 needles trying to inject even. I imagine that next week will be most exciting.

LAS CRUCES - The teenager who defecated in a man's car - mistakenly thinking it was his girlfriend's - has been convicted and sentenced to probation.

Austin Horries Purifoy, 19, is headed into the U.S. Army, which is aware of the charges, said 3rd Judicial District Attorney prosecutor Michael Heitz.

Unfortunately, the owner of the befouled Honda Civic was turned away from the car wash where he attempted to take the car and had to clean the damage himself, Heitz said.

Leaving work late the night of March 11, the car's owner reported finding Purifoy in the back seat of his Honda Civic, pulling up his underwear.

"This is your car?" Purifoy said before bolting the scene, according to documents filed in court. "I thought this was Desiree's car."

"I've been in this office three years now," Heitz said Tuesday. "It's the first case where I've seen something like that happen ... It's an unusual case, to say the least."

The car's right front window had been shattered with a rock, the glove box had been rummaged through and some coins had been taken from a film canister, the car's owner told police.

Police also discovered a cinder block had been thrown through the glass door of a business a few yards away from where the Honda had been parked. Footprints leading from the door to the Honda were later found to match Purifoy's shoes, which had a distinctive dot and circle pattern, according to court documents.

Located not long after by a nearby ditch, Purifoy allegedly
told officers he was outside because he didn't want his "girlfriend" Desiree to see him smoking.
Purifoy, of the 2700 block of Ridgeway Court, pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal property damage and attempted breaking and entering just before he was scheduled to go to trial Monday before District Court Judge Stephen Bridgforth.

Purifoy, who has been undergoing treatment, apologized for his actions in court and has repaid the business $349.17 to fix their window and paid the car's owner $154.90 to fix his car window, Heitz said.

"Hopefully, this was a one-time thing for him," he said.

So there is this new show called "Freaky Eaters", I think it comes on after "Hoarders" if you watch that.

Anyway, I got turned onto it because I saw this little bit of one show about this one gal who eats nothin but french fries, morning noon and night. I wonder how her nutrition is - she looked ok, but I didn't get to see the show, only the intro (tagged onto the end of my recording of Hoarders). We did get to watch the show about the guy who eats raw meat and the gal who drinks loads of soda. She was drinking about 4000 calories of sugar a day in her cola. How could she not be overweight? She looked like she had a nice figure - not superslim, but very nice. Where's the calories going? Are some people just lucky like that? Weird. Maybe she's like a hummingbird and needs all the sugar to survive. Maybe all these people are mutants.

Anyway, anybody else catch the show or have similar experiences?

I snore. Didn't used to be too bad until I had surgery to remove a pituitary tumor that went right through my sinuses. Now, I wake my husband up. It's not apnea. I keep breating, I just snore. He snores, too, but he's always snored and I'm used to it after almost 20 years. Toenail Infection

Ok, I have an infection under my left big toe nail. This has never happened before, and it's gross and embarrassing. I don't know if I got it from the nail salon or just because this immune-suppresant medication I'm taking is bringing on all kinds of infections: ear, nose, throat.

I noticed a few days ago that the nail was turning white and red underneath. But it didn't hurt. I thought I must have just stubbed it or something. Then it started exuding a little stuff sort of like mashed potatoes. Now if I squeese it I get lots of mashed potato puss! I've tried irrigating it with hot water. It still doesn't hurt, but the nail seems a little lose.

Hubby wants me to go to the doctor. Will it just go away by itself? Should I sue the salon and/or my doctor and the makers of the medication I'm on?

I'm at the age where I'd thought I'd be through menopause, but no. I'm still cycling. I was on Tamoxifen for five years, an estrogen suppressor because my breast cancer was driven by estrogen production. So now my hormones are back with a vengeance. PMS creates incredible boob pain all night, up a cup size with tender swollen nipples. I have to swat the husband and growl. I'm not pregnant, but it sure feels like it. I can't use any hormone or natural products such as soy or wild yam. All I can do is bitch and moan. ARGH! Thank you, that is all.

I'm too old for this crap. Way too old.

Damn it. I hate it when it happens. It can become such a struggle. You know what I'm talking about. Its when that huge honkin burrito you ate last night finally gains enough momentum in your intestines to make its way out of your sphincter. Problem is when you sit down to shit only about two thirds of the 4 in thick x 16 in long turd can make it out of your ass before getting stuck up against the back wall of the toilet bowl. There are only two choices in such a dilemma of course, Hang tight hoping the section of the turd hanging out of your ass crumbles a bit falling into the bowl allowing the rest to come out or stand up allowing the turd the space it needs to evacuate but risking the chance of splash back when eight lbs of shit KurPlunks into the bowl while you scurry away with pants around your ankles.

"T" or Testosterone, Every one has some of it in them. Men have more than women, and even women have a little. Men also have progesterone as well. oddly enough it is in us to help regulate the production of testosterone and sperm btw. Now, The reason for this post is this. I found out that my body had stopped producing "T" because of that and some subsequent problems in my world,
Recently I was tested for “T” levels, as it turned out my count was 27. The reason I was tested was because of depression. But it was a lot of trial and error of throwing drugs at it for the simple reason that most doctors do not really want to treat the cause but alleviate the symptoms. I talked to my doc about depression he said lets try the first series of anti depressants... what a nightmare.
After taking a series of drugs to help elevate my mood, then moved to meds to treat bi polar symptoms, which helped for a very short period but left me worse off than when I started, then moved to tri-cyclic anti depressants.
Eventually I just said “enough” it was easier to just ignore the world than try to get out of the rut even.
Then a friend said to me, Have you looked at hormone levels?
The first round of tests showed that my Thyroid had completely ceased production. Now mind you, some of the symptoms overlap. But for the most part the thyroid symptoms coincide with “T” symptoms. I started the Thyroid replacement and I have to say some of the problems were lessening, but not gone, and certainly not forgotten.
I spent a year trying to figure out why I was still having problems with just about everything. Now mind you the one thing that DID NOT quit was my sex drive or the ability get a hardon. Those parts of my life stayed constant.
So I asked my doc to check for other hormone deficiencies. Thats when I got the “27” score. Now mind you, in a healthy 45 year old male the “T” count should start at 800!!
So we started with the gel. By the time I was seeing any benefit from the gel, I was being knocked out by the alcohol levels and contact high from application. So then I started injections, at first I got a shot 2 times a month, started out at 50 units each time. The effects were pretty decent. My depression lessened, I had my energy back, and even felt better.
Over a years time, I took the injections but the depression was not gone. Every time I neared the injection appointment, I would start to get profoundly depressed and tired, enraged, argumentative, and even confrontational.
So I had another test done. “27”. Fuck fuck fukkity fuck!!!! What was I doing wrong? I mean I was getting the injections right? I was doing what I needed to replace the hormones so as to thwart off the effects of not having the stuff right?
So the Doc says, lets up the dosage. Now I am taking 100 units every 2 weeks.
Well, to tell the truth, little changed. I was feeling pretty good but still dropping off at the end of the 2 week cycle. After 2 months we tested again, “27” It had to be wrong! How can this be we doubled the dosage, WTFO!! So we doubled it again.
Now I am taking shots every 2 weeks at 200 units...
Now the fun starts. Depression was still lessened, tiredness basically gone. Irritability was all but gone. But we start into the side effects of taking “T” injections.
Acne, but not on my face or back, At my hairline, on my scalp, and of all places my ass crack!
AS if this were not embarrassing enough, Erections, painful unplanned, unwanted erections, and not like your normal hey lover lets take advantage of something just came up kind of thing.... No, these erections were only half erections.. Normally all of my dick got hard, glans swells up etc etc. with these erections, only the corpus cavernosum engorges, and it hurts like hell let me tell you!
Now here is the screwed part. Backing off the dose is not the solution, but increasing it was! I told the doc about it and it turns out, increasing the dosage to mimic the bodys normal dosage worked. Now I take 200 units every week and everything has come into focus!
I feel fantastic, have not seen any depression, my normal peaceful mindset is restored, my fuse has returned to its normal function. I do not get irritated at the drop of a hat anymore, abnormal erections have ceased, acne has disappeared, and I am sleeping better given the physical parameters that I deal with and is within normal cycles once again.
I am not trying to say that “T” is a miracle drug but replacement of the hormone has helped me SO very much!

If anyone is feeling sluggish, depressed, slowed libido, etc. etc. Check into it, I am so happy that I did.

I live in Colorado, and one of my favorite things to do is walk down the mall and look up mens shorts especially when they are commando. Here shorts are a year round garment for men. you can ALWAYS find men in shorts here. Every season, every day! Rarely do they wear underwear. On top of the toenail problem, a corner of a molar just crumbled in my mouth. The irony is I just went to the dentist last week for a checkup, and he doubtfully looked at my teeth and said I might have "a few chews left" but about 3 teeth needed to be re-filled. I grind my teeth at night, and haven't been wearing the nightguard, so I've just been wearing away my teeth. So now I have to go in earlier than I thought for reconstruction.

My orthodontist in high school told me that teeth haven't evolved much, and aren't built to last much longer than the cave-man lifespan of 40 years, which I'm just over. I hate this! Why doesn't some of this fat just fall off and crumble away, eh? I've been following weight watchers and lost 12 pounds, but every time I stop counting the calories and miss my daily exercise, the pounds creep up again. Devious little things. Everything I want to keep is falling out, and everything I want to lose sticks.

Does PMS get worse with age? I can remember gaining a pound or two, getting acne and food cravings regularly right before my period, but now I regularly have a big argument with my husband, or maybe even a random stranger (road rage) right before my period. Today I burst into tears over a movie "Neverwas", which granted was a good movie, but I feel like my heart is breaking. This seems all out of proportion. The only other movies I've cried at are "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" and "AI". I feel really out of control emotionally. Even smells seem more potent. Like right now my hair smells incredible (I just washed it). Last night I couldn't stand to be near my husband while he was eating a tuna sandwich.

Is there an off button for this?

So the other night me and the missus are attending a little early dinner party preparatory to going to see the Delbert McClinton Valentines concert here in my home town. Some fool chef had cooked us up a big vat of beans and a raft of cornbread. This immediately smelled trouble. Most people can't process beans without gustations and miasmas issuing forth, and there we were going to a public event where we would be crowded up against a bunch of hot and bothered middle aged women for two hours or so "giving it up for your love" only we didn't want to be givin' up gas the whole time, but fortunately someone has a bottle of "Beano" pills which nearly everyone downed two of without thinking twice about it. Result: a successful gas free evening. There was nary a peep from any one of us. Nothing blowing in the wind at all.
So is Beano the greatest invention since power brakes or what?

when I was a teenager my best friend was this guy who when I was a kid would of been referred to as "husky". I trusted him with anything, we were pals right? Infected Sinus Tissue

Last time I caught sinusitis (over the holidays) I beat it w.o antibiotics again but with a familiar pattern. I would nettypot and take cold meds until the fever broke, then I would have killer congestion for about a week, then all at once I would sneeze up a chunk of horrid green and yellow snot surrounding what I can only assume by it's texture and horrid smell- is a chunk of my sinus tissue. Within hours I feel better, and this happened the same way 2 years ago with my annual cold.
Is it normal to lose a piece of your sinus tissue like that? Does it grow back? I think antibiotics are overperscribed and I try to only take them when I really need them (dental surgery, major illness), and cause of my allergies I get a sinus infection every winter, but if I'm eroding my sinuses, I'll hold my nose and take the antibiotics!

Kotex sent me a free gift pack of feminine products in various sizes. Some were so big I was sure I'd never use them. The overnight pad was like a diaper - but it suddenly came in very handy. And the lavender tampon applicators were darling - my favorite color!

I just wonder why they decided to suddenly send me this package. Maybe it's a Drugstore.com linkin.

It's amazing how many feminine products there are now, all different sizes, scents, wings. When I started, there were not many choices. Now there's a whole aisle in the drugstore! And I remember trying to get my first tampon in (it was a cardboard applicator instead of plastic). I spent two hours in the bathroom before giving up. I know it's a landfill producer, but if you're going to use tampons, plastic applicator is the only way to go.

The shower in the back bathroom of our apartment got clogged up a couple of months ago. I had just had the apartment manager clear the clog in the front bathroom and really didn't want to have him come out to suction the clog back to the bathroom with the tub. Especially since the girl child only likes to tub it. I can take a shower in her bathroom but she can't take a bath in my shower...so the shower back there has been quietly ignored for a while now.
Now we are getting ready to move and I decide to strip down the shower curtain back there and clean the beast. I figure I need to get an early start on it since I can't let the water run for long or it backs up. Well, lo and behold the drain is running again! I'm kind of dismayed that I didn't know it was fixed.
I splash some vinegar around and start scrubbing with my handy sponge on the adjustable stick, I throw some ancient citrus shampoo in for some scrubbing bubble action and then it happens.
The residents of the dormant drain pipe don't like my witch's brew. A sewer roach pops up out of the drain, luckily he's pretty confuzzled and slippery. I bash him with my mighty sponge on a stick! His gross hairy legs cause him to stick to the sponge, but this is a plus! I can just swing him over to the toilet, whack him loose and flush him back to his home.

But then another one comes out. Two in a row. I dispatch the second one much like the first. But now I am pretty worried and very ooked out.

I go get the Borax. Not only to help in my battle against soap scum, but as a deterrent for the other denizens of the drain. I scrub a while more and get a third!!! This one is a different flavor of roach. Maybe a Jr. sewer roach. I don't know. Less reddish brown more blackish and fat bottomed and MUCH more lively and harder to kill. At this point I am thinking napalm might be my only option.

I settled for a bed of Borax around the drain with the ol' inverted cup nestled in it. The cup is opaque. This is bad as now I am imagining it is completely filled with roaches and maybe a rat.

I'm scared.

I have digestive disease that narrows my colon, so I can't pop out bigguns like that - at best mine are long and narrow, like beef sticks. Is he trying to impress me, or is he really too stressed out to remember to flush?

Vomit Dog

While I was in the shower this morning, my dog managed to eat an entire container of Trader Joe's peanut butter cups, including many of the papers they are wrapped in (TJ's PB cups are about the same size as Reese's miniatures).
When we got to work, the staff started making bets as to when the vomiting would begin. It began around 11:30, and he threw up 4 times, about a barf an hour. It was gross and really hard to clean up because it was the consistency of eggwhites. It kept slipping off the paper towels as I was trying to pick it up.
One of my groomers thinks it would be neat if one of his poops came out actually wrapped in one of the papers. (Yes, she would fit right in here, and she also won the bet as to when the vomiting was to begin). I think he got all the papers up though. He's showing no signs of illness now...he ate his dinner, we went on our evening walk, and he is right as rain.
I think he has a sugar buzz though, because he was forgetting his manners on walkies.
