to buy land, as a premium member, you can 1) buy it from SL website www.secondlife.com/ or 2) do a search on the SL search engine for land sales or 3) fly around in an area you like, clik on any empty land and choose about land... to see if its for sale... you may notice FOR SALE signs also or 4) go to SLexchange and choose real estate www.slexchange.com/modules.php (you will need to sign up on the website and confirm it in SL...)

Next... as a land owner you can own up to 512m of land with no monthly fee, tier payment. over that area, you pay monthly secondlife.com/whatis/landpricing.php

you pay in dollars or lindens, depends, but you change dollars into lindens at the SL website with paypal or any credit card... it's about 250 to 275 lindens per dollar

Hi Muin! The economy in SL operates somewhat the same ways as an RL economy. You buy dollars, you sell things or buy things, land always comes with a cost whether leased, rented or paying tier to the Lindens as your virtual landlord.
