Another good episode.

I have several friends that won't even touch a gun, which I find very surprising. I mean, when they are unloaded, guns are no more dangerous than hammers or waffle irons. I think that kind of aversion just stems from unfamiliarity and media images. In fact, Pia's experence in the show kind of proved that.

I do wish that the episode had explored more of the politics of the issue. I'm not "anti-gun", but I do believe in strengthening gun control laws, so I would like to have seen more discussion about legislation and the intent of the 2nd Amendment.

"Animal Rights"

Sigh ...

I knew that this was going to be a tough episode to watch. Not because of the issue, but because of my experience with the issue. I used to be a vegetarian, but over the last decade I've come back around into being a meat-eater.

Watching this episode isn't going to make be give up New York strip, but it has caused me to look back at who I was 10 years ago, who I am now, and question whether my beliefs and actions are grounded in my sense of right and wrong, or whether I just float on the winds of convenience.

If I do indeed continue to go on eating meat, one thing is sure, I need to start paying more attention to WHERE that meat comes from.

I guess it's true that the unexamined life isn't worth living.

"Out-Sourced"

Eh ... not so good. Cool to see the guinea pig actually going over-seas, but eh. I was far more intrigued by the story of the Rhavi and Soni than I was with Chris'. I guess he learned a little about the issue of out-sourcing, but he was never really controlled by his stereotypes, so there wasn't much room for him to grow.

Oh well ... they can't all be gems.

Atheist one

This latest 30 days was a touchy one to say the least. What did you think of the interactions between this woman visiting a Christian family? Personally, atheism is not for me, but I was able to see her point about Christianity being the national religion of our country, unwritten of course, but it is assumed. What are your thoughts?

Wow! What a powerful episode! This is bound to be one of the best of the new season. It was so touching, I got a little choked up several times. Especially toward the end.

30 Days on Minimum Wage

Perhaps the most depressing thing about the Minimum Wage episode was the fact that it seems like they only got that apartment because they were accompanied by a camera crew and were young and well-spoken. What happens to people who have no money, no job, and no FX series?
