Mars and Venus together

topic posted Wed, May 23, 2007 - 4:22 PM by  Melissa
I recently skimmed through a book called "The Mars Venus Affair" by Wendell and Linda Perry. It had some interesting thoughts. By combing both planets to find out "what's your sexual style."
Anyone care to share their Mars? And we can test the theory of this book, paraphrased of course! ...And I guess I already know that we all have venus in pisces.. =)

(Of course there are many other aspects that would influence this, but this is just a basic for fun thing!)

Venus in Pisces and Mars in Capricorn~

I think they work really well together...they are sextile...and both receptive energies...but one is soft and fluid and the other structured and directed...I can be both receptive and assertive...

Eibhlin--Hi! That's so funny, cause I have a friend who has the very same. Mars in Cap. and Venus in Pisces! Well, this little book calls you "The Succulent Slave of Love"!!! And it says (paraphrasing): "You are a romantic dreamer who is practical and persistent enough to make your dreams into realities and you erotic fantasies into concrete experiences. Perhaps more importantly, you have the sexiness and persuasive power to get other people to join you in you sexual dreamland." (That is just part of what it says.) Interesting!! Do you feel that sounds like you??
        =)

Ebhlin--I'm going to read you the 2nd paragraph, since I stopped paraphrasing for everyone! It says: You are typically less concerned with controlling other people in you life than you are with controlling your dream. In many instances that erotic dream can become so expansive and all-consuming that it becomes the dominating feature both of you life and the lives of those who love you. You are the most open-hearted and lovable of all the MI Cap lovers, but when it comes to you dreams, you can be cold, calculating, and relentless.

          =)~

Wow, Sounds very interesting. I am not that intense about my dreams though... but sounds like fun. I suppose all the planets affect the personality. Astrology can be so complicated sometimes. Sometimes I read about my sign/planets and some things ring true, while other things don't fit. I guess one has to look at the chart as a whole.... though I don't really know how to do it.

Hi Elizabeth! I hear your roarrrrr! K. Here's what my fun little book says about Mars in Libra, Venus in Pisces... (from what I know about Libra and topics of sex, this could be interesting...) It says that you are "The Deceptively Perfect Lover." "No Lover believes in love the way that you do. No Lover infuses the sex act with such cosmic implications. You are looking for more from love and sex than a bond to another human being. You are looking for salvation--an emotional catharsis that will totally overwhelm your soul." (wow) "It is for this reason that you can be one of the sexiest and most alluring of the Mars in Libra Lovers. for the same reason, you can also be the most fearful Lover of this type. Sex can be pretty intimidating when it goes cosmic."
The key to understanding you sexual nature is that your real sex life takes place in your dreams. "
Jeez. what do you think about that?!!

Wow... I need to dwell on that for a bit... I reread it several times aleady.....But I think that it qualifies as creepy accurate on several fronts...

The dream line is particularly interesting.... I understand that in a way I can not explain... I think I had attributed that aspect (astrologically speaking) to the fact that I'm an aries...

          Hm.

          Thanks for sharing!

Could you look up another combo for me?

(No Pisces in the mix, but the Venus is 12th house)

Venus in Aries with Mars in Sagittarius~

              Thanks!

Sure! Let's see...Mars in Sag. Venus in Aries: "The Daring Love Child" It says: "You are a charming, effervescent Lover, so full of life and optimism that no one can resist you for long. Of course, you approach to love is so reckless, direct, thoughtless, and impulsive that you need every bit of that charm, plus a fair amount of luck, just to survive the often calamitous consequences of your actions. From you point of view, good sex is a matter of creating as much excitement as you can tolerate." I'll go on, just to give you a better idea... "It's not just thrills that you're seeking in you sex life. You're also looking for experiences that will feed your ego and leave you feeling empowered. Sensation for its own sake holds little interest for you. Sexual relationships that offer only basic gratification are essentially useless to you. You often push your relationships and the people you love to the edge because you want them to love you for the challenge. Pleasure is just a fringe benefit."

so, is that good, news? Is this a lover...... =)
haha, you don't have to answer that!!!

hi. this is my first tribe post. i only joined tribe because of the awesome and amazing astro community discussions. they've provided much insight.

i'm a venus in pisces, mars in cancer. very watery. i've also got sun and mercury in pisces, and cancer rising.

as far as my mars in cancer, i do enjoy nurturing and mothering in love. i can also be very moody especially with the people closest to me. but i'd be curious to hear what your book says.
    • Re: Mars and Venus together

      Tue, July 3, 2007 - 8:30 PM
Wow, magenta.... I also have a venus in pisces, mars in cancer! Sun, moon and mercury in Aries...And I believe that my rising is virgo. I think.
So, this is what the book says about venus in pisces, mars in cancer: We are the 'Irresistible Sentimentalist.' "If there can be a creature of pure sexual passion on the earthly plane, you are it!! And for this very reason, your love life tends to get complicated. You are too susceptible to you feelings to pay much attention to either propriety or good sense. To others, you appear to make sex too big an issue in you life, devoting an inordinate amount of you time and energy to matters of love and romance. But if these people only knew the intensity of your feelings, they would also understand just how moderate you really are.
Your main problem is learning how to focus your ultraintense sexual feelings. Too often you get caught up in the elemental force of your sexuality and lose sight of the fact that one good partner is always preferable to a hundred bad ones. Maybe it's because people fall in love with you so easily. Or maybe it's just that you have so much trouble saying no to that love. In any case, you often enc up with many more demands upon you affection than you can possibly fullfill.

So what do you think about that?
(For me, I did actually identify with the part of people falling in love with me easily, nor have I had very many partners in my life, but who knows, could be also a different influence, affecting this.)

        um...WOW!
I am also VIP and Mars in Cancer. I like the trine aspect but Mars is the most unhappy in Cancer as a rule. I can relate to every word in that paragraph. I will have to ponder it more and it makes sense why I have been involved in throwing 'sensual' parties in Portland for years. And they just think I' m a pervert. It's not my fault see! It's my Mars! *lol*
What about combinations with your VIP and someone else's Mars in Pisces.
I had this with my last boyfriend and the sex/love aspect was very dynamic and beautiful. I loved the conjunction.
        • Re: Mars and Venus together

          Wed, July 4, 2007 - 1:10 PM
Ya, mars which is a firey planet, and cancer which is a watery sign....can be a conundrum.
Lets see, vip, and mip: 'the Fantastic Love Addict." You are in pursuit of a dream, and by no means is it a peaceful dream. You fantasize about extraordinary passions, extreme emotions, and romantic insanity. The search for this dream often makes you agitated and restless. You blow through people's lives like a hurricane, leaving a path of shattered hears and broken promises. You long for stability and commitment, but only the relationship of your dreams will satisfy you. All other relationships are expendable. If you are lucky enough to find your dream early in life, then you have a wonderful capacity for living happily ever after. If you don't then the situation can get out of control. Physical sex is always less important to you than emotional security , but your emotional needs are so intense that you often don't take time to notice the difference. any kind of emotional release--even the most casual or callous--can sustain you for a while. When your dream seems distant and unattainable, you are all too willing to settle for these short-term fixes.

          hmm, cherry, sounds really intense!

Man, I better not put that on my relationship resume or nobody will come near me! So true though. Blowing through people's lives like a hurricane...
            *hangs head*
            le sigh...
I don't break my promises though. I just don't make them in the first place. I mean, how can you predict Mars and Cancer, espeically when they are in the same cell?

        Wed, July 4, 2007 - 7:33 AM
wow i have to say that is SPOT on.

people do fall in love with me very easily. it's hard for me to explain this to people without seeming like a conceited, vain snob. and i LOVE to fall in love!

98 percent of all my personal written journals are all about relationships...this used to trouble me until recently, when i decided to just let go and enjoy the whirlwind of life and love. and it's great!

what has helped is getting in touch with my aquarius moon, which i think helps me pull back a little...aquarian detachment comes in handy when you're ruled by signs seeking all-encompassing love and passion.

        thanks melissa!

how about venus in scorpio, mars in sagittarius?

those are my current love interest's planets.

i think the venus in scorpio is the key...he is a sag sun...but our sun-moon combinations are sextile in both directions...sagittarius-aquarius, pisces-taurus...interesting.
            • Re: Mars and Venus together

              Wed, July 4, 2007 - 1:18 PM
hmm, well lets see.. VIS, and MIS: "The naughty Love Child" "You are the least optimistic Mars in Sag Lover. You expect no cleansing grace from the thrill of sexual experience. You expect trouble and guilt, and all the sticky emotional complexities that are the inevitable outcome of human entanglements. Yet, oddly, enough, this touch of wisdom (or, in some cases, cynicism) makes you no less eager for adventure. You will tackle love at any opportunity, no matter how many times it kicks you in the face.
Unlike most MISag lovers, sex is not just an ideal for you. It is a physical and emotional necessity. This can make you one of the most daring lovers of this type, and essentially shy person who nonetheless feels compelled to nibble at the darkest extremes of sex. It can also make you the MISag lover most susceptible to commitment--a pretty dangerous and extreme measure in itself, when you think about it."

How do you feel bout that?

Thank you again Melissa, for the transcription and for starting this thread.

That is a lot to think about. I honestly am very fascinated and amazed by this Sagittarian man! He is so complicated. He comes across as the total playboy, badboy, lots of swagger, very charming, really handsome, always half-joking about how women love him (the Aquarius in me is not at all bothered by this; the Pisces in me is a tad hurt -- hence, harnessing the Aquarius). Not into long-term relationships. Very friendly in matters of love, playful, a noncommittal air, etc. Prototypical Sagittarian. But he has been doing the pursuing, almost relentlessly, there is no cat-and-mouse with him...he's playful but there is nothing playful in the intensity of his pursuit...what this means in light of what you have written me...i am still processing...if it fits him (it does ring bells for me), i am happy; i want someone who will leap into love wholeheartedly. He is a fun, fun person and i love it.

That's a great book!! Where did you get it?

Oh, It's actually a book I borrowed from a friend! I'm sure you can find it on Amazon! Is your guys sun in sag? They are always pretty exciting. Maybe he is a bit shy, and some of his swagger and stuff is somewhat a defense mechanism? You'll have to see if you can solve his mystery... =)

                    Re: Mars and Venus together

                    Wed, July 4, 2007 - 6:03 PM
i believe that. i believe his swagger is genuine but definitely hides that shy part, which as a Pisces/VIP/Pisces Merc, I am all too eager to get at. And he does reveal himself to me, in subtle ways -- I do not know if he does it consciously or subconsciously. He is VERY talkative, and I am very quiet in general, so it kind of works. But he'll start off kinda like a blowhard, telling me tales of his awesomeness, and then a while into the conversation we're reflecting on grand concepts and even engaging in a little bit of self-examination (which I am obsessed with but he seems to have trouble with it -- water -- reflections).

He is kind of a brusque character, in fact I was even slightly turned off initially. But it is exciting to be around him, always entertaining, and I do know he has a gentle side and I sense he is very private about it and I want to explore that side of him too.

The great thing about Aquarius is that is allows me to give him complete freedom -- I never ask where he is, where he is going, where he's been, never nag him to go somewhere exclusively with me and I rarely hold him to any time line. From what I have read about Sag, as a result, he always comes around and always comes back. I love having an Aquarius moon, it helps me value my independence. If only he knew all those times I was off on my own or not picking up his phone calls, it was because I was busy doing not much more than dreaming. But I think the Sag sun and esp the VIS in him likes the mystery.

Synastry is a beautiful thing...because I could never have imagined I'd get along in this albeit weird way with a Sagittarius. They're a handful but they're great.

    • Re: Mars and Venus together

      Wed, July 4, 2007 - 1:28 PM
ok, let me see. Vip and MiS: you are "The pulsating Powerhouse of Passion" (hehe, wow) "Your sexuality is so powerful that it has a way of changing reality--of remaking the world in the image of you desires. It's not just you that can be led around by your strong emotions. The influence of these powerful feelings is bound to spread to all who love you, and many who don't. Now this is not necessarily bad. Those who are willing to submit to your subtle, psychological bullying are so amply rewarded with love and sex that they seldom complain. But you have to be mindful of the power you possess and use it wisely.
Because your feelings are so strong and so personal there is little ground in you emotional life. You tend to love and hate with the same extreme prejudice. Sometimes it even becomes difficult for you to distinguish between these two strong emotions, and you begin to enjoy the hatred as much as you delight in the love. In the world of dark sexual extremes that is MIS, the difference between these two emotions is not so great.

Wow, I suppose that love and hate have as fine a line as pleasure and pain. So, do you identify with this?

yah.... definitely with my last serious relationship. It was definitely love/hate, very up and down, and very passionate. Eventually neither of us could take it anymore, and I haven't been in a serious relationship since. That was about 2 years ago.

Eventually Bea, we all get better at channeling our own energy. I like the planets you have. Just think of the possibilities, if you learn from your past! Sometimes, it's good to practice not taking ourselves so seriously. Anyway hope that helps.

Good advice. I have learned some from looking back at that relationship now that the feelings have calmed down. That's why I'm waiting for the next "serious relationship" to make sure this time that I've grown enough and am ready for it. It was young love, so very chaotic and over-the-top anywayz. Thanks for the info :)

wow. me too. so weirdly right on.
especially i always think people can tell how i am feeling, constantly, i cant hide anything, my presence is so strong. and i get so caught up sometimes in emotions that are negative and i can't see out, though when i am happy i am the happiest and i want it to last forever and i adore taking care of others and connecting to people on such a deep level but then, suddenly i wake up and something has rubbed me the wrong way and i am lost.

I identify with this too. I'm also a Pisces sun I have Pluto in Scorpio as well. My Venus trines Pluto and squares Mars. The only thing that keeps me grounded is that Saturn is also in Scorpio! I also have Lilith conjunct Venus in Pisces.

I say the VP trine makes me more "happy" about the deep intense relationships that happen even if there are sad/bad/negatively intense times, emotionally painful times because I can see the good in the entire experience because it pushes me towards growth and transformation (Pluto). Especially being a Sun in 7th house person, I value this. Since both Venus and Pluto are sextile Neptune even the one most aggravating friendship I had with someone who was horribly in love with me (I was not with him) yet horribly manipulative and filled with so much pain had extremely beautiful parts. Some of my relationships were downright euphoric. I guess with the Venus square Mars I can sometimes find it hard to blend those two sides of myself.

Having Venus square Uranus also, like Saturn, grounds me because it allows me some detachment and want of freedom and space which allows me to not get and not want to get drown in a sea of emotions and lose myself in myself or someone else.

Hi Bec....I bet you thought I wasn't going to respond. Sorry it's been 2 months. But here it is:
VIP and Mars in Aries: The Delicate Extremist.
You may be the most idealistic, volatile, and alluring of all the Mars in Aries lovers. You combine enormous erotic vitality with a real emotional need for human contact. Unfortunaely, this emotional openness also makes you one of the most vulnerable lovers of this type. The reckless abandon that characterizes the Mars in aries approach to sex invaiably brings you pain and sorrow. It would all be so much easier if you could exercise a little caution in your love life. But what would be the fun in that?

Your attitude toward sex and love changes a great deal as you age. Your sexual energy in youth is so irresistible and you optimism so strong that you rush into relationships. After you've been bumped and bruised a few times, you become more aware of you psychic scars and painful memories than of a sweetheart's potential to make you happy. It is only natural that you will be wary and maybe even a little vindictive. You must be mindful not to make the people who you love in the present suffer for the mistakes of those who failed you in the past.

      so, how does that sound??
