Uber Pod for 2005

So far this year there is no Uber Pod action, and most likely won't be as I am not going to Burning Man until at least 2007 (alas!). If others in the group would like to activate again and add new members, let me know and I will accommodate.

I am posting this because someone just requested to join the tribe and I had to figure out what to say to him.

I am willing to hand over moderation to someone else if there is interest in resurrecting Uber Pod for this year.

I am in school now until Sept. 15 at Empire College in the Travel, Hospitality, and Wine program, which is going to take up all my time, but my new swell job should give me the ability to have even more fun next time! Hope everyone else is doing great! If you are going to Burning Man, say hello to all that for me!

on Wednesday night 12 midnight to 3 AM
They need a few more folks for slots, especially then.

Below the the Man will be 40+ rooms in three levels, two stages, placed within an epic maze, filled with art designed to entice, provoke and confuse the citizens of Black Rock City. Message from the Otters

hello lovely otters,

the first wave is in place, and otter camp has begun. thank you all for
being part of this, our ninth or tenth year of getting down on the playa.
it will be something, just what remains to be determined, but something
profound no doubt! a couple logistical items:

- we are btwn 3:10 or so and 3:30, btwn catharsis and delerium.
thanks so much to paul, luma, robert, and timothy for being the first wave
to inhabit home base.

- the concept of a camp donation of $10 to support center camp is
just that, a voluntary donation to support center camp activities. it is
not a fee, it is not mandatory, it is nothing more than a voluntary act if
you so choose to contribute. so far, we have major pieces being donated by luma - that being letucia, marcela - that being this year's vastly improved oasis, lef - the redux of the o so mighty Bertha, norm, dr dan and johnny - that being the evolution el-wire sculpture, direct from the black light fields of hornings, ruby and jeff - a kinetic something extraordinaire, and who knows what else. if you don't have extra $10 or are otherwise supporting important art, great, no worries. if you can chip in anything from $1 to whatever, we'll collect it and send it on to those who have put out to make the oasis even more awesome. its not a camp due or anything obligatory, its just your chance to support random acts of senseless beauty in your own backyard.

- we are planning a sunday salon, following by the potluck/party.
that takes place all day and night sunday, so save some fun and energy to help put on the otter sunday.

- monday monday, can you really leave without spending 2-3 hours
helping cleanup center camp and beyond? why leave the playa so soon? bring a garbage bag (which you will lovingly through in your rig for transport home), cleanup up moop, party debris, collect some ground scores, consume ground scores with your friends, and know that you don't suck.

I'm sure there is more, but for now, its time to recharge and prepare for
this amazing journey where we can together clebrate life, our friendship,
this incridble family we live among, and remember those who have filled us with meaning.

Hello,

My name is Raul, I'm a Burning Man virgin, and have spoken with Chaz about hooking up with the "Uber Pod." I attended Zack Darling's North Bay Burner get together in Santa Rosa Tuesday night, and am psyched about finally going this year.

I know Chaz from several pre & post-BM parties, Anon Salon events, many concerts, etc. Chaz's post about a very low-key camp appeals to me, and talked with him a couple of weeks ago about hanging with his camp.

He forwarded the invitation to join this Uber Pod, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'll be bringing a 2-person tent, and may ride up with Chaz in his van. The alternative is dragging my 82 Peugeot out to the playa, and while I'm sure it could handle the trip -- it's always more fun to go on an adventure like this with someone who knows where the speed traps, short cuts, etc. are.

In the default world, I'm a computer consultant and occasional sound reinforcement engineer. I'm a big live music fan and am hoping to catch performances by Hamsa Lila, Foxgluv, as well as musicians I've never heard of on the playa.

Any suggestions you have for a newbie would be most welcome -- I've got a copy of the survival guide, but would love to hear what anyone decided they would never be without after their first trip there. Also, has anybody got any advice about bringing an acoustic guitar? Will it survive the heat/dust/etc?

I just made up this name off-the-cuff, so we don't have to keep it if we don't want. Tribe.net doesn't allow the umlaut that I envision over the 'U'.

More name suggestions?
