I saw this posted and I just had to comment. For those who like to costume up this is going to be a good one. Especially the Boombox by the Brass Tax crew- I love their spinning especially JoeJoe. Plus its a benefit for people who do good work in the bay . wow!

The new fair will provide a platform to recognize people and organizations throughout the Bay Area for their outstanding contribution in the arts and community development.
For it's first year, the Superhero Street Fair will be honoring GIRLS 2000/Hunters Point Family, the San Francisco Food Bank, and Green Mary. Each of them has truly made our community a better place. Ceremonies will include a Mayoral proclamation of "Superhero Day" in San Francisco.
How have YOU used your extraordinary power and abilities to help your community and those around you? The Superhero Street Fair is a unique opportunity to reveal your hidden talents and rise to level of superhero. Superhero costumes are strongly encouraged, and get participants in for half off the suggested donation.
The fair's location has never been used for public events before. Islais Creek Promenade is along a stretch of water just off the Bay near 3rd Street and Cesar Chavez. The location is close to public transportation, and there is plenty of parking nearby. The organizers of this event are leading a crew that will help clean up the area both prior and after the event in order to leave it in far better condition than it was found.
The Superhero Street Fair takes place on the Mayan Day Out of Time. According to the ancient Mayan Thirteen Moon Calendar, the extra "Day Out of Time" added at the end of the 13 Moon cycle is an occasion to cancel debts, to pardon and forgive, and to celebrate life through art and culture. It is on this day that we refocus on our actions and ways to improve our community.

Re: Superhero street faire
Tue, July 14, 2009 - 5:21 PMSuperhero's are not limited by the time-space realities that constrict regular mortals. They are able to get to entirely different locations and then convert the masses to super-hero-dom. Don't ask me to explain it, just have faith and know that its "the truth". ..... -

I'm jus' sayin'...
Tue, July 28, 2009 - 11:53 AM"Ordinary people doing extraordinary things". This seems like it was a fun fundraiser for good causes and perhaps could be exported from the West Bay. The event seems a little more useful than the "How Berkeley Can You Be" parade. -

Re: I'm jus' sayin'...
Tue, July 28, 2009 - 12:02 PM...and by the way... www.howberkeleycanyoube.com/
The folks of this town should put their campanilism in check and assume that other people might want something good to spread. -

Re: I'm jus' sayin'...
Tue, July 28, 2009 - 11:23 PM"Campanilism"
def 1. A fatalistic acceptance of the University of California in Berkeley. -
-
Re: I'm jus' sayin'...
Wed, July 29, 2009 - 9:17 AM>"Campanilism"
I was wondering about that. -
-
Re: I'm jus' sayin'...
Wed, July 29, 2009 - 6:03 PMIt is an English translation of an Italian term meaning the alliegence of a person only so far as they can hear the bell tower. A synomyn is parochialism.
