Foreign countries inherently cannot provide adequate protection against the theft of intellectual property, much less of your personal information, which is being processed in various (and almost never regulated) data entry and call centers overseas.
The threat of American citizens becoming victims of foreign identity theft en masse, is very real. We have already had a woman in Pakistan threaten to post American citizens' personal medical information online, and foreign organized criminal interests have offered cash bounties for foreign call center employees who would give your personal information to them.
Identity theft is rampant in the United States. The additional insecurity of processing data overseas across international data pipelines in countries that could not stop identity thieves at their best behavior, is simply intolerable.
The solution to this is to make it a federal crime in the US for any company to process (in any way) American citizens' financial or medical information abroad. This should be punished as a threat to national security, with time in Federal prison and an automatic one million dollar fine and possibly the total seizure of said company's domestic assets.
There can be no compromise, no surrender and no backing down to companies who put you and I at risk for having our identities hijacked, our intimdate medical details published against our will, or our credit ruined, by domestic threats, to say nothing of foreign threats.
This tribe is being formed as a clearinghouse for strategies aimed at ramming the message down the throats of corporate Earth that America won't tolerate this grave threat to its citizens. Its purpose is to help bring about laws that will lock foreign countries out of access to American citizens' personal data, and that will harshly punish corporations that engage in this.
