I've just started juicing as part of a detox program that I've made for myself. This morning I made a breakfast of pomegranate, apple, carrot and cucumber . It tasted great but within 20 minutes I felt a rush of energy and also extremely nauseous for about an hour. Has anyone experienced this before? Was it from the sugar?

Re: Feelin' weird on the juice
Tue, October 23, 2007 - 11:08 PMwatch your fruit & veggie combining!
plus if you are pretty toxic when you juice, you can flush toxins out of hiding and back into the blood stream to be eliminated, and this can make you feel odd/icky.
fyi: too much raw beet juice can mess your head/brain/circulation up and make you feel funny!

Re: Feelin' weird on the juice
Wed, October 24, 2007 - 6:58 AMcheck out food combining charts on the internet...some fruits should not be mixed with veggies...in general apple is ok and lemon is ok with most everything...but some people say raw apple juice causes upset and gas...see what your body does.
you may also want to do a green juice and then eat a salad...maybe the pure juice is too much at this time for you...or you could try grapefruit juice that's just strait up.
some people say the fruit juice is too high in sugar...even carrots, beets, and parsnips fall in the sugary category...if you're trying to get rid of something like candida...you have to restrict these juices in the beginning.
another way you can ease into juicing is by making raw fat smoothies...this would be stuff like homemade yogurt or raw milk as a base, then adding something like avocado and raw young coconut juice and flesh...you can add sprouted almonds and a little raw honey, too. record what you feel in a journal...you may have different reactions to different juice combos...you will probably have to experiment a bit to find something that feels like it works for you.
i recommend checking out some books on juicing by dr. bernard jenson...there is a lot of information out there...for sure feeling sick and icky isn't a fun part of the detox...as long as it passes in an hour or so, or after you eliminate...it's probably a good thing. i felt this way with raw garlic...but not with raw ginger in my juice. you also have to watch out and not use too much parsley or beet greens...
have fun with the scientific method! don't forget that eliminating the toxins rapidly can bring an ill feeling...this can be relieved by a colonic/coffee enema/psyllium-bentonite shake...all sorts of methods...but talk to people and find the best way for you. -

Re: Feelin' weird on the juice
Fri, October 26, 2007 - 8:45 AMIf you're going to intake a powerful cleansing juice, consider complementing it with a coffee retention enema. The coffee assists peristalsis and increases bile production which helps the liver cleanse.
Any kind of fast should be started slowly, eliminating animal products and grains at least a day before. Eat salads, lightly steamed veggies, drink broth the day before. If you're going to resume eating meats, again, do it gradually.
