Which is the best juicer out there?

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on juicers...which one is the best out of everyone's experience?? I have one right now but it's not the best and I've been looking at the Jack Lalanne one-which I've heard is pretty good and not very expensive. Or the Omega 8003 but it's much more expensive. One of my main requirements is for it to be inexpensive since I am a broke student but I also don't want one that will break or not work correctly. I am fairly new at juicing and I know I'll be using mine daily so I'll need one that will be able to hold up to daily use. Thanks, any suggestions would be great for me!

Has anyone seen the LaLanne machine compared to a Champion? Seems like the Lalanne has a wider feed tube, does it really produce drier pulp?

I have both the Jack Lalane juicer and the Champion. (don't remember which version of Champion) but I can say that hands down, I love the Jack Lalane juicer much better then the Champion. Its quiter, the hopper is larger, the pulp extracts better, dryer and the juice is high quality (provided you begin with fresh fruit and/or vegetables)

Certain vegetables and fruitgs cannot be used in the Jack LaLane juicer such as bananas and celery.. However they work great in the blender and go right into a smoothie..

thank you very much. Now, to compare the LaLanne to the Vitamix. . .

I have a very old vitamix and absolutely love it. But what the vitamix can do the juicer cannot.. It can crush things like seeds, berries, banannas, and almost anything.. Its truly an amazing machine.. I can make soup in it.. Its pureed of course but then I can throw in my diced raw vegies into the hot soup (yes the vitamix gets the ingredients hot.. 2 mins if you can handle the noise)

I've crushed walnuts in my vitamix, large seeds like peach pits and prune pits for scrubs and such.. decided I didn't like them.. but the vitamix didn't care.. LOL

Used it for alot of things it wasn't designed to be used for.. wet and dry ingredients for crafts, clay etc.. its still going strong.. I found it at a yard sale about 10 years ago for $10.00 recognized it for what it was, paid the lady and left before she realized what she had sold me.

I love my Jack Lalane juicer! It's fast, easy to use and easy to clean. However...I only use it once a day at most. I only juice for my husband and myself. I tend to juice fruits not that many veggies and I've never attempted leafy greens or wheat grass. So it is excellent within those limitations. I am relatively new to juicing (less than 6 months) and if I stick with it or get more complex, I'll probably look into upgrading. But to what I've not yet researced.

The biggest selling points for me on the Jack Lalane juicer were price and availability. I didn't have to order it, but got it from my Costco for about $90.

Oh, I agree...Vitamix is the best! except for the hefty price tag...Love the Jack LaLane juicer, pretty easy to clean and inexpensive at $99 (costco) vs. the Vitamix @ $370+. But, use the Vitamix daily throwing whatever I want into it, including carrots. Great way to get EVERYTHING you need into one tidy little package.

      Happy juicing!

        Hello,
I have a Vitamix commercial I got from the company in the 80's....they did a layaway and no real problem to get. I like the fiber in the juice....need to put small amount of ice in mix as blades are so fast they generate heat....

first off.....whats up Mary!....I'm living in North Cak too, Greensboro headed to Boone for school at Appalachian

I'm new to juicing, new to this tribe, so I was interested in this thread specifically

one suggestion: the jack lallane is being auctioned for ONE CENT on eBay right now, and the Vitamix can be found for as low as 41 dollars.......granted, the prices will probably go up, but shiiiiit.....I'm not even trying to spend 90 bucks, let alone 340+!!!

eBay is the shit......I was a doubter for years, but now I always check to buy anything expensive off eBay.......

I can only speak for two. The JuiceMan Jr and Jack Lalane. Jacks is way better because you can fit more in the larger hole in the top and it makes more juice and less pulp. JuiceMan Jr is a joke. It wastes too much and takes twice the effort.

I love my Champion > had it for well over 15 years and have juiced almost every veg/green/fruit with it (except wheatgrass...and granite;) I know several folks who got theirs at garage sales for under $50 so look around...

Numerous alternative anti-cancer protocols advise against centrifugal type juicers that whip air into the final juice. The oxygenation introduced into the juice creates free radicals that rapidly deteriorate the potency of the juice. Masticating juicers basically extract the juice without introducing air.

Of course to juice is preferable over not juicing so if you're not concerned with issues of oxygenation then a centrifugal juicer is fine. I have both kinds; the ACME Supreme Juicer cost a fortune when I bought it in 1988 and it's still running as strongly as the first day. I also have a manual stainless steel Back to Basics juicer for cereal grasses - it's not the funnest to operate but extracts every last drop.

I got my Champion for $25 on the Raleigh Craigslist.

I love it. Works perfectly - and is ten years old.

I did have to put 'juicer' into the search for a couple weeks to find one at the price I want, but eventually folks come on there to get rid of juicers. Love me some craigslist.

    :) Happy hunting and gathering.

anyone have an opinion on juicing wheatgrass in a champion, omega or green star vs. buying a separate wheatgrass juicer?
I don't mind buying a good juicer, but it would be nice to not have a separate wheatgrass juicer.

2nd the craigslist! But the vitamix's, juicers, dehydrators not only get snatched up but there are "wanted" ads for them here in Dallas.

you should get a OMEGA! i promise. Champion doesn't juice wheatgrass or veggies like parsley well. IT tends to heat them

I looked into the Omega 8003 nutrition center...know anything about it?
It looks like the mack daddy of all, juice/fruit/wheagrass/nut butters/soy milk. I'm also looking into a wheatgrass sprouter setup.
I think I need a bigger house for all my paraphernalia. Maybe I could rip out my oven : ) for storage?

BINGO: omega wins. i have a champion and used all the others. the wheatgrass is the true secret. champion and others will destroy the things most needed and wanted. and it is easier to clean. i learned this from jm@mercola.com the other from book: fit for life by the diamonds. this enzyme which no known electron microscope has yet to see is killed at 117.5 degrees, or so.

I'm learning more about raw (feel like I know so little at this point) and heard 118 is the key.
Thanks for replying Roger, glad to get a confirmation about the Omega. Also looking at more macrobiotics. There's a lot out there to digest (pun intended).

oh, I also need to find my Fit For Life book, thanks for the reminder. When I first got it I was miles away from being able to do it, a bit closer now. I was in an organic co-op at that time and many of the members went by McDougall...any thoughts?

The Norwalk Juicer is the best - it is so good that it is actually worth its price, because you get a TON more juice out of each vegetable, and the juice is not heated in the process of its creation -- so it's MORE juice and "BETTER-FOR-YOU" juice. Also it will last a lifetime: Very durable machine. You will never need to buy another juicer. The problem with the Norwalk Juicer is two-fold: The price, which is crazy, utterly crazy.... and the fact that it is time consuming, messy, and difficult to operate and clean. It is straight out of the 1930s. Learn more about the Norwalk and the growing call for better, faster, cheaper hydraulic juicers, at the new tribe devoted to this topic, tribes.tribe.net/norwalkjuicer

We think the company that makes the juicer is making literally THOUSANDS of dollars on each and every sale of this simple kitchen appliance -- but that they would make still more money if they would just lower the price to a level more people could afford (because they could sell a lot more of them).

Better of course would be to design a more modern Norwak Juicer without all the silly 1930s two-step, lengthy, messy process. Still, even tho its expensive and messy, it is 'worth it' for the quantity and quality of juice you get out of it, and for the durability of the machine. But you need lots of time and money and personal commitment to make this juicer work for you, and most people just don't have all that. It's really sad that most people miss out on the best juice just because of the poor company strategy being pursued at Norwalk. We need to shout about this to attract a new juicer company into 'hydraulic' style juicing.

now that the organic labeled produce in the usa has been destroyed, do not worry so much about a juicer. every bit of produce that is brought into this country is now processed: irradiated, steamed, blah blah. even california, and all the almonds are now destroyed thru solvent, heat, irradiation. try, try and get a raw almond anywhere in the united states.. what is your only hope? a sprouter... good luck.

Mine died this past weekend, we had it for 3 years. I am saddened and ready for an upgrade, we have been contemplating one for awhile. The Lalaine was great while it lasted, although as it aged, we received more pulp less juice.

Well as I said in a previous post, I'm getting a juicer in about a week. Not sure exactly which one to get yet.

The Vita-mix, just looks like a blender, am I missing something?

I want a good juicer, but not necessarily top of the line, since I'm a beginner, and a very busy person who doesn't want to be scrubbing pulp off of machine parts all day.

I'm thinking the Breville Juice Fountain compact it goes for about $80, Breville is REALLY good from what I've seen online in consumer reviews.

Although the Jack Lelane looks like a good one too. And is within my price range.

i adore the breville juice fountain compact. the juice it produces is a bit frothy but very good. the breville is quite efficient, not too bulky, and cleaning is a breeze.

      vitamix is not a juicer
altho can grind pulp smaller than any blender
the most important thing you will run across is: wheatgrass, etc
then you need an omega 8003 or equivalent
must learn the basics then learn with that
the juice must not go above 117.645 degrees
do research: fit for life by diamonds the most invaluable source i have seen
      juice books by walker sp?
the vitamix can actually spin so fast willmake soup and get it hot at same time
the pain is clean up and prep
but you cannot even get real raw produce anymore commercially
just like: YOU CANNOT GET A RAW ALMOND THAT WAS PRODUCED ANYWHERE IN THE WHOLE UNITED STATES
it may say raw...a new war has begun...make sure you know who the real enemy is...
