Has anyone seen the trailer for "Raw For 30 Days"? It's a documentary about six people, who normally eat fast food, who decide to go 100% raw for a month. It features interviews with doctors, experts, and raw foodists including Gabriel Cousens, David Wolfe, and Woody Harrelson.
I am new to raw foods and very interested in hearing from others who are raw foodists and people who are trying to change their lives for the better. Many people in my family have diabetes and I have changed my diet and gone raw to prevent myself from also getting diabetes.
The trailer on Youtube at:
www.youtube.com/watch
There is also a new two-disc DVD set that is available for order called RAW FOR LIFE, which is a encyclopedia of Raw Food, perfect for beginners like me and Raw Food enthusiasts. I have found it to be very helpful, as I have been transitioning to raw foods. It’s about how to live raw, the Raw Food philosophy, why to eat a raw food diet, important medical facts and nutritional information. It’s a very practical guide to becoming raw and staying raw.
Visit the Raw For 30 Days site at:

Another great resource I have found is the Raw Summit site, which is at:
www.rawsummit2.com
I joined for the first Raw Summit and found it very helpful and interesting and it’s FREE!

Re: Going Raw for 30 days...and beyond
Sun, October 21, 2007 - 4:45 AMhi there,
i've never been ALL raw, for for awhile in the summertime when the produce is freshest, i try to eat 70% raw. i recently got into raw dairy and raw fish in LA before i moved to Vietnam. now it's not easy to eat the way i want. i am in another country and looking for the same quality or food choices is difficult and time consuming. i recently received a winter package i sent myself...i sent some raw cacao/gogi berries and some raw unpasturized honey (brazilian peppertree)!!! i'm really happy to have it.
there is sugar and hella salt in everything here. my body has really had to adjust. also, you have to watch out for the msg.
i think totally raw for 30 days is good for cleansing and detoxing, but personally i don't think i could do it 365 days a year as a lifestyle. some bodies can thrive on such a diet, while others have more issues with deficiencies. i would say for sure you'll feel better for awhile, but then the "honeymoon" might be over and you'll be chasing that high for awhile. do a lot of reading, talk to other raw foodists...i recommend reading ajonis vunderplanitz "recipe for living without disease" for another perspective (he advocates the raw meat and raw dairy). just take things with a grain of salt and make up your own mind based on your own observation, experience and intuition. also, an important thing to consider is to ease into it...if you shock your body with something really radical, there could be unwanted consequences. you could get really sick, so listen to your body. there are many threads that talk about the difference between a "normal" cleansing reaction and something more serious.
"they" also recommend not broadcasting these radical diet changes to the universe...as you will end up spending too much time and energy defending your decisions or viewpoints. save discussion for the fasting or cleansing tribe...
with regards to trying to prevent diabetes...you may want to have someone who has experience with this help guide you through changes in diet. i really wouldn't know what to say about natural sugars with regards to this...but giving things up one at a time in a gradual fashion will contribute more to lifetime changes than trying to omit all the vices at once. i do understand some of us are all or nothing...
hope this helps, and all the best in your search for better health and longevity.
