Re: free logic analyzer
04/29I've looked at the Parallax LA's online but haven't seen one in person yet. I too have an old HP at home that I haven't turned on in years.
I need to get a digital scope and I'm wondering if the BitScope systems ($500, USB to PC) are any good, or if I should dump the $1200+ on a Tek scope... -

Re: free logic analyzer
04/29i've heard really really good things about the bitscope, but mainly from people on online boards, etc... the nice thing is, the software's pretty open and they keep incorporating new cool things into it.

Re: free logic analyzer
04/29Nix has a bitscope... you should talk to him about it before you get one. His experience with it doesn't sound too good. -

Re: free logic analyzer
04/30i had an old-model bitscope, which came with crappy
software. i recently got an upgrade to a more modern
one, and it seems to work with the newer software now.
the limited serial port speed is definitely an issue, i haven't
found a good high speed usb<->serial interface that will
work with it.
there are some primitive python wrapper libraries for the
bitscope protocol, could be a good base for any kind of
interesting logging.
so the bitscope looks pretty nice to me at this point, but
i haven't been doing much tronix since i got the upgrade
so i can't give a definitive review. it's borrowable if you
want to play with it.
