Just though I ought to introduce myself as well, since I'm also new here. I'm Philip, I live in North Kent but am more often than not in London to work and play. Oh, and hello to Caz... ;0)

Hi back, Polstar... ;0) So you're a photographer with an interest in cemeteries? (Sorry, I've this habit of looking at people's profiles!). A question, then: do you have a favourite cemetery? I know that seems like a weird question, but surely I can't be the only person with that particular foible...Good luck shooting the vampires, btw, but if they suggest a little snack, then RUN. LOL!

Ah yes, I have a particular affinity with Kensal Green. I've probably photographed it about 12 times, but I'm still finding new sculptures and markers that interest me.
Brookwood is also fascinating. I've only explored about an eighth of it!

          How about you?

Oh, I dont' think they'll be snacking on me! and look away at my profile, that's what it's there for ;)

You should check out St Pancreas & Islington Cemetery in Muswell Hill. It has a really old, overgrown and mostly forgotten about section on it's East side. Sometimes the cemetery is shut, but you can always access it through Coldfall Woods which is next door (there are large holes in the dividing fence).

love st pancreas... oh and hello as well... for personal favorites im caught between abney park in stokie and nunhead in brockley! both excellent and overgrown in part... made a ridiculously funny movie at nunhead. i find highgate nice in parts but its always swamped with people and anyway feel its somewhat over rated! i also find cemetry's made into parks interesting. the old lambeth palace cemetry on the high street is a case in point... gravestones piled up to side of park or used as paths... i quite like that, though to some its an outrage?

i noted kate was presumed to be new to london and ive seen this often in the tribe. sometimes get the feeling that this tribe is just for new arrivals... but? well be interesting if we stirred up those who have lived here much longer?

just interests me is all... as someone who basically headed to london as soon as id finished school, studied here... moved away and returned... i love the city. but anyone else agree with me that london is great but you need time away to appreciate and recover from it!:) im in copenhagen now and its grey and pouring with rain... but its got clean air and no-one is in a rush. that always irks me about london. also its odd but hardly anyone used ipods or mp3's... do we need them in london to survive? to cut ourselves off?

I am SO desperate to move away. I moved here when I was 19 (many moons ago) and have stayed ever since. My husband was born and bred here. So now, we just want to leave. But then I have my photographic projects to finish ... and also ... there's nothing like feeling at a loose end and being able to dive into Charing Cross and be within walking distance of museums and galleries.

I've still not gone to Abney Park! I'm useless you know? I'm trying to photograph EVERY London cemetery (see www.londonnecropolis.com) but it's very difficult when I work full time as a teacher and then have other photographic assignments.

Come along to the Kensal Green Open Day on the 8th July if you can. I've got a stall there and if people can drop by and say 'hi' that would be great :)

do try and go... its so lovely and quite there... off the busy stoke newington church street, in the centre is a ruined church... and a grass area to relax... also sems fiolk make fires here so can be a mess... i often get some food from fresh and wild and pop in there... not exactly full of amazing sculpures but some nice ones dotted around... very, very full of trees!

would love to pop by but in denmark till august... i survive london by having long trips every 18months... hard to organise but worth it!

i know the need to escape feeling. i have an allotment, i cook and im health obsessed... but how can one do that in london? its so polluted! i feel like i do all the this but then have to cycle or use the underground and well then im sucking in so much filth. im starting to think about a move, a few years from now i see a new city... maybe copenhagen? i must say its won me over! (hope im not evicted for plotting to leave the still wonderfull city of london?:)))

all the best with the open day! and fantastic photo's and website did you build it?) ive actually stumbled across this before.
