Anybody know what the deal is with the posters on SLeandro marking out construction parking? They are for the whole of the SLeandro frontage and the permits are good til the 23rd of November.
Hmmmm,
for our building or public works project for SLeandro St?

Re: Whassup with the construction parking?
Thu, November 15, 2007 - 1:15 AMOn drive-by, it looks like "they" are re-doing the sidewalks. CalTrans has been cleaning up 185 for the past two days.
I bet someone "important" will be coming by the 'hood so they gotta make the place look... um... good(?). -

Re: Whassup with the construction parking?
Thu, November 15, 2007 - 5:15 AMYeah,
Lookin' real good, guys. *snark*
Just makes me curious though; how in the hell does that little stretch of curb make it on the DPW's radar let alone get scheduled for repair? It's as if there is a random word generator somewhere that spits ot work orders through a slot at the end of a long basement hallway. 'Oaknet Command' would probably fail a Turing Test.
Aren't there about a million other things around here that need work, like the gaping holes and missing top rails on the High St. underpass bridges?

<<I'm sure it's all in the queue and will be gotten to soon enough.>>
*LOL*
Wait a sec .... you're too nice a guy.. You were being serious weren't you?
* To try to be a little less snarky on my part* - I say we fabour own railings and install them: they can be as outlandish as a weave pattern of wrought iron vines, drilftwood, faces made out of found hubcaps. We can pour ourown curbs with coping for skating and paint them chartreuse - "Oddball Parking Only."
Let's squat public fabric with functional whimsy and art!
I think I want to make a jungle jim/castle out of bent bicycle frames and dumped refrigerators found on Wattling. -

Re: Whassup with the construction parking?
Sat, November 17, 2007 - 2:16 PMDUDE! This is a fucking GREAT idea! Making a new railing sounds like just the thing to fix the wrecked bullshit in style. I say we do it in the middle of the day in broad daylight as well to help reduce suspicions. I have a portable welding cart, as does your roommate. I'm a bit short on the right kind of steel, but I'm sure we can pool our resources, hit up the scrap metal place on San Leandro and fucking go to town!
Lets make a date. :) -

Sat, November 17, 2007 - 2:33 PMFuck yeah, man.
"I say we do it in the middle of the day in broad daylight as well to help reduce suspicions"
With a clipboard and a traffic cone you can do any thing you want .
I'll take measurements today and we can make a panel in the comfort of our homes (and in the vicinity of beverages).
I'll see what scrap we got laying about.. We probably should do this at your place. Our project space is already booked and we don't have a separate area with a door on it to do some grindin' and bangin'.
PM me with your phone numbers. I'll do the same and you can drop in #9 (big door on 40th) this afternoon; I'm helping Brian there rebuild his bike engine. -

Re: Whassup with the construction parking?
Mon, November 19, 2007 - 11:37 AMI missed this message until too late... but I'll send you my digitz.
I'm cool with working over here too. I have an angle grinder and a cut-off, but not a chop-saw... but so what. Measure twice. I also have a Lincoln Electric welder with a fuckton of wire and some newly acquired space in the shop.
My time is a bit on the tight side, but I can surely open up some for this project.
