Dog Deposits?

Has anyone gotten word from Chris and Delene about additional dog deposits? like another 250 bucks?
We did in number 12 re: "Scout" and Mara moving in.

Off the top of my head....
gotta call "Bullshit!"

Maybe we could come to some sort of deal: deduct a buck for each spider infesting the place. a couple more for each mouse, 50 bucks for every broken window...

I think we will come out ahead.

you wouldn't want the dog scratching up the dumpy concrete floors now would you?

i think we had to give them a kitty deposite when we moved in...

It's illegal for them to request any additional "deposit" money from you.

If it's Chris asking, then tell him to go through Madison Park. Chances are he will drop it once you stand up for yourself. I have my doubts that he knows the laws. And besides, he's only the building manager, not the landlord.

If it's Madison Park, tell them to go through the rental board. They should know the laws. If not, then I'm pretty worried. Then again, I don't have the greatest faith in them so there's that.

If you need any additional firepower, feel free to borrow my tenant's guide from Nolo Press.

      Yeah,
we have already discerned the illegality of requests for additional deposit money (among a host of other shady and illegal MP practices, shortcomings and unenforceable lease conditions.
But, there are a host of mitigating issues; subletting, issues of a "realpolitik" nature, tradeoffs in attentions paid, enforcement and our own taking of liberties (i.e. "slack.") - not to mention, the whole cost-benefit aspect to taking on a controntation as well

But thanks for the offer of the books and stuff .

We already have plenty of tenants rights literature, CSC legal code excerpts, etc. -- not to mention the services of very our own junkyard dog - Dave the "Heavy Metal Lawyer of the Apocalypse", Esq..
