Just looking for a bunch of cool people to hang out with sometime. Also looking for a cheap room to rent temporary and what are the cool night spots?

Re: Hey! New to LB and...
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 12:51 PMHowdy! Welcome to Long Beach. I see that you sew. I know there's a great big fabric store on Anaheim Street just a block or so west of Redondo Ave. About a half a mile farther west on Anaheim is Joe Jost's which is one of the coolest and oldest bars in Long Beach. It opened in 1924 and going there is kinda like going back in time. They serve there own traditional food (sausage sandwiches on rye w/a pickle and pretzels and a pickled egg), good beer (and Pabst) on tap and they have a big old fashioned pool room in the back. It's the kind of place that serves peanuts and you just throw the shells on the floor . . . very old school Long Beach.
Long Beach is an old town and I couldn't even begin to to list all the cool places there are but I figured I'd point you towards a fabric store and the coolest oldest bar in town, seeing as how they're not too far from each other.
I see you loves to sing . . . me too. There's a bunch o' karaoke in town. And, a lot of musicians, too. You can find almost any kind of music you might be looking for. If it isn't here already, it'll pass through soon enough. Same with restaurants and food, too. Whattaya like?
Unfortunately, I don't have a cheap room or know anyone who currently does. If you don't mind not having parking, you should be able to find something affordable though. Parking can be the most challenging thing about this town. If you can afford it, try to find a place with parking you can count on. It will make a big difference in your quality of life around here. Best of luck!
