This may seem like a small thing but it impressed me.

I regularly email my Representatives at both the State and Federal level. My Representative in the House is Laura Richardson. Earlier in the week I sent a couple emails about issues that will be up for vote very soon. Within twenty-four hours I got responses from Ms Richardson's office - they were all blank. So I sent a return email stating that a blank response conveyed the feeling that no one had read my message.

. . . . . In my In-box this morning was another response from Ms Richardson's office, this one was not empty, it had a topic specific form letter in it. Someone on Ms Richardson's staff actually reads the emails.

It just may be that your elected Representatives do pay attention when you contact them, or at the very least there is a designated staff person.

Be an educated voter and an active citizen. Your vote counts - your opinions matter.

  • It's usually designated staff people, but that's not a reason not to write.

To crib from a better source than I....

"You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and
they won't take him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots and they won't take either of them.
And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out. They may think it's an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of Alice's Restaurant and
walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement."

He was right then, and right now. One voice can be ignored. 100 voices with the same message gets a short press release. 100,000 gets an election.
