For the Third Asia-Europe Music Camp, I'mPULSE, the Asia-Europe Foundation join hands with the Dashanzi International Art Festival on 14-21 May 2006 in bringing together twenty emerging DJs from Europe and Asia to engage in a one-week dialogue and workshops through comprehensive digital music experimentation.
A close-up on the possibility of representation, translation and migration of Asian and European DJ-culture will be presented by guest DJs from Asian Underground: Sam Zaman of State of Bengal and Ges-E of Nasha Records (UK), and China’s Yang Bing.
Leon Lee, Producer, Pentatonic Workshop (China), Aleksander Motturi, Artistic Director of Clandestino Festival (Sweden), and ASEF’ s Programme Manager for I’mPULSE, Vanini Belarmino compose the team of curators for this Beijing project.
I’mPULSE is a programme of the Asia-Europe Foundation’s (ASEF) Cultural Exchange sector for the Asia-Europe Music Camp, designed to provide a platform for young people to exchange their ideas on music. Its primary aim is to encourage fresh minds to pursue the development of their music concepts by learning from each other. This ASEF programme label I’mPULSE was coined to stress the individuality and spontaneity that is apparent amongst young musicians.
This project is supported the British Council, Goethe Institut-Beijing, Hart Center for Arts, the One Minutes Foundation, 11-Art Com, Vibes and Club Tango.
