Could I please have a hug?? It's been a really crappy weekend.
I have a child who wants to leave me and a friend has turned his back on me when I needed him the most.

Re: Hugs Please
Mon, April 21, 2008 - 12:46 PMi was a child who wanted to leave her parents...at 16, while living in San Francisco....grown ups have a hard time making it here... and i started when i was 16....
my parents had a reallly, really, really hard time with it....we did not talk for two years....
we are very close now....
MY POINT: even though sometimes it is hard and children (and sometimes parents) do not act rationally, if you raised them well, trust that the lessons are there and they will come back and love you, and in the mean time, their lessons will help make them safe.

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 12:50 PMHow fucking rad and brave of you to show your vulnerability and ask for help. That's the mark of someone with true strength.
Big hug at you, and hold your head up, hon.

Re: Hugs Please
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 2:53 AMWhen my daughter was nine she decided she wanted to go live with her Dad.. I was crushed I thought I had done something wrong.. she just wanted to see what it was like to live in a two parent family.. since he was married.. but, if I didnt let her go and try it I felt like she would just rebel and be miserable.. so I told her she could go knowing it was going to be rough.. but I told her she had to stay at least 6 months which was at the end of the school year. .. The day she left I collapsed into a sobbing heap thinking my world had ended.. of course it didnt.. she stayed nearly the six months until I found out her Dad was drop kicking his wife downstairs... and my daughter was being forced to do homework from the time she got home from school until bedtime and all weekend. I went and picked her up she was ready and never asked to go again.. she is graduating from college May 10th with a four year degree and we have the absolute best relationship a mother and daughter could have.
So heres your ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hug)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I can relate just keep the lines of communication open, try not to hover, and trust her to make good choices. Good Luck

Mon, April 28, 2008 - 5:15 PMThe friend still has not spoken to me and has only just sent Hubby an email.
As for my child she is 17 and doesn't want to leave Hawaii, told me if we move to Alabama (cuz of the army) she will live with her father in Louisana (as if that is better!) My oldest is ready to leave home and I am prepard for it. As it seems I am about to have new two ones join our home, Hubbins babies from his first marriage, ages 16 and 18.
I am in a better place and I thank you all for your wonderful support.
Hugs back to everyone -

Tue, April 29, 2008 - 10:57 AMSounds as though your 17 year old is upset that she has to leave Hawaii, I wouldnt want to either, she is a senior in highschool all of her friends are there.. the prom.. is there anyway you could stay in hawaii to let her finish her school or someone she could stay with.. her threat to move to her dads sounds like your hurting me Im gonna hurt you.. sort of response. I was 17 when I graduated from highschool and left two weeks later for California lived in Sacramento by myself for a year turning 18 while there.. I know this has to be difficult for you all.. of course you know your child better than we do, if you dont think she is ready to face the world I hope she finds it in the next year...
Sending positive energy for you to figure it all out. Best of luck MeShell
