to invite anyone you know who has a pet/s that would be totally as geeked out and into pet parenting as we are. :>}

I have noticed that I do all kinds of research now that I have Little and I am often stumped on places to find out good information. I would love for us to be an easy resource, source of support, and place to just blab and blab and gush over our animals and how much we love having creatures around our house.

Pet Insurance -- I need support

So, I have 2 cats. And I don't have insurance for either of them.

I've been meaning to get it for a long time, but have never made it a priority. One of my cats did get sick recently (he's better now!). And now Bridgie's dog got sick. I really just want to get it so I can have it and be done with it. And dread the day I might have to use it, but I'll be thankful then that I have it. I don't need to tell you. You know.

Anyway, I'd love support around getting this done. Maybe just the act of writing this post will make me feel more accountable to this than I have until now. I'd love advice on where to go (something online would work great for me). Do you have any stories about getting pet insurance? Any general advice? ... General cheerleading would also rock. :P

I want healthy pets! And I don't ever want to be faced with the decision of having to choose how much my pet is worth to me in dollars and cents.

xoxo
Caryn

This tribe was created at the purrrfect time (sorry I won't do that again :).
The other night I was getting ready for bed when I realized that Natty hadn't eaten any dinner yet. She is not the kind of cat to miss a meal so I figured something was wrong. I found her hiding in the closet and when i managed to get her out she was all covered in dirt and meowing pathetically. She couldn't walk right and stumbled a few times trying to walk around the room. I was soooo worried! It was the middle of the night so I made a little bed for her next to our bed (since she couldn't jump up to sleep with us). We found a Vet close to the house in the moring and took her in....turns out she was attacked by another neighborhood cat and beaten up. She has some serious bite marks and is really sore. We've got her on antibiotics and she's got herself on bed rest. She did manage to jump on the bed last night and is walking around much better today. This was the first real medical issue we've had to deal with for Natty....it was so upsetting seeing her in pain and having no idea what had happened. I just wanted to share the story....send Natty healing energy and send the evil neighbor cat some "stay the fuck away from my cat" vibes.....

Love love....Rosalie

Me & My Pets

Hi! I want to post about something else (LOVE this tribe), but figured it might make sense to introduce me and my pets first. :D

My name is Caryn. I am a single chickie living in NYC. I work as a web editor, and I love my job. I'm very lucky to have a lot of beauitful, supportive and loving friends in my life. I'm interested in science and personal growth. My favorite color is kelly green. :P

Ozzie is a GORGEOUS 8 year old tabby cat. He has gigantic green eyes. He sleeps under my arm at night. He has a swingy cream-colored tummy, and I love it. I like how Ozzie smells. Here are some pictures of him.

Donnie was a 4 year old feral cat who passed away very suddenly last summer. I wrote about the night he died on another blog I have.
http://apictureofme.blogspot.com/2006/08/doa.html

Time passed, and I decided it was time to bring another kitty into my family. And that's when I met Pi.

Pi is a 1 year old blue cat. I brought him home in Feb (07). He has only 3 feet. He is awesome. He gets around great and can run as fast as any other cat. He loves jumping all over Ozzie. Often, watching the two of them is more entertaining than television. (They're at it right now as I type this.) Here are some pictures of Pi.

I'd love to know more about you and your fabulous little friends!

P.S. Bridgie, thank you so much for creating a safe place to geek out about our pets!
