Okay which room would the fourth house be in your home -I am guessing the twelth house would be the room with the bath. 8th would be the bedroom -seventh is probably where ever the desk and fling cabinet is . 9th the study or meditiation room or even backyard or terris-5th house game or entertainment room.

hmm.. that is a tough one... when you think of family kitchen definitely comes to mind. but 4th house is also said to be about foundation, the ic is the lowest part on the chart, most private... so it could be the basement too.

The foundation is a good idea but the basement sounds like Scorpio on the 4th cusp. The kitchen is where the house is built around the hearth and home. Particularly the place where we might sit and have a cup of coffee or beverage of choice w/Mom. It's probably at least near the kitchen. The cats are probably sitting on the counters looking at us too. No matter what time of day or night!

I didn't know houses had to be built according to planetary influences. "giggles"

But to me basements seem like Pluto/8th house business, as well.

In fact I remember reading on www.bobmarksastrologer.com a description of Pluto transiting the 4th, and the dude said people who are looking to buy houses during that time should be aware of hidden issues, like bad plumbing or termite infestation.
These are problems that usually stem from the basement...

The 4th house/Cancer?Moon is said to govern anything womb or stomach-like, but what exactly is that in a house? What's the womb of a house? The stomach would have to be the kitchen.
Maybe it also governs the bedroom, or whatever room u sleep in. That's where u wake up, aka. are born every morning.

Or maybe my imagination's run wild, again. "giggles"

the fourth house is the foundation, it is what you are, the lowest point/nadir. transitin pluto in the house of foundation would have to look for hidden things... maybe literally in the foundation of the house-i wish life was so easy... it is pluto affecting the foundation (4th house). so i guess the question is what is the foundation (4th house) is it cancer ruled? hence the whole kitchen stomach perspective. another thing in these general guidlines/outlines of these houses are just that & are not stagnant & experiences have many factors. example is when i think at family & foundation i don't think of the kitchen, food,... ect. are any of us incorrect?..no. we are all right by our own personal experiences...but the natal chart is a very personal imprint of potential & experiences that are just that, individual & personal and one truelly needs an open mind & a desire to put on someone else's shoes.

afterall with 4 personal planets & my north node in the 4th house, i am not really going have somebody else tell me what that experience is for me.

      peace & happy new year!

Yeah ... I run into that problem having a stellium in the 10th... Well the 10th house in my case fits the 4th house MUCH MUCH better, in the sense of family, home, and foundation. But it could be because it is in the sign of Cancer. (Capricorn to me deals with the real foundation).

What I think of what family and tradition means....

ANYONE... blood doesn't only = family....

ANYBODY who can make me feel a sense of security.

Tradition... Remember your roots, if we believe that we choose where we are born at, then their is reasons why traditions where placed around us. Like for instance, I cannot understand how someone born in western cultural civilization, could say they are Buddhist, Hindi, or any branch of Eastern Philosophy for the most part., and Vice-Versa. There is a difference of believing and being. Sagittarius - Cancer stuff...

My 4th house is ruled by Sagittarius, with Uranus conjunct from the 4th house side, and Neptune in Capricorn.

2 Sagittarius parents... My Uranus opposes my dads Mercury, Uranus.
Then my Mothers Uranus conjuncts my Mercury.

        Happy New Year!

          Blah.... 3rd house side!

4th house needs to be rewritten... The theme of the 4th house to me just doesn't add up.

I'd never thought of the basement before for 4th, but perhaps with my natal pluto (stellium) here I can see it also. As a room, have never really looked at it this way...I would just say my whole house (4th)...lol bringing in things from nature into the house like rocks and plants and water fountain.

Something on my mind......cancer being the water sign , nurturing, motherly, and 4th foundation, roots, ecology, mining, ect.....could then tis also relate to something underwater, a home near water, a houseboat? Trying to understand the 4th as a whole in ralation to the water aspect yet the foundation part as well. Hope I made sense of this.

I have a fear of water and drowning, yet I love water and crashing waves, very calming...lol

The breakfast nook, in or just beside the kitchen. w/ the wall filled w/ Family Photo's, Inherited objects holding only emotional value, and so on. Yes Mom and coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate and a warm loving feeling. Or what ever, make you feel safe and loved. That memory that inspires your particular comfort foods..
Also w. the “Fuel” of the day, Breakfast, gathered w/ your Family.

Has anyone ever thought that the fourth house might describe our retirement home or location?
This is just an after thought.

Okay then , the already written ; Gestation, mothershood , end of life, home, parents, old age, retirement , where we die rules stomach and breast.
Let's go with cooking -making it a rewrite of being the house of flavor. Mine is ruled by Capricorn -I am satified most when I eat root foods with texture -even with mash potatoes, I leave a few lumps for that added authenicity and fresh made taste..
When the fourth house is upset it either seeks comfort or has an upset stomach.
Its a place that represents where we desire connection and bonding. Where we might feel included and cared for . Its not ruled by love but it wants affection and kindness .
The fourth house makes continuious completions within short durations.

For me the 3rd house seems like the Front door. The first and second being what makes you feel really protected and safe and at home and then there is this door...and people come and go out of the door and then there is the kitchen and mom and everyone coming through that front door to have some down home pie. Moon pies or apple pies or meat pies or pumkin spice pies. Surprise who is comin' to dinner tonite. The preacher eat all the chicken and the tax collector won't be much good company. (Or will they or won't they)..
