Sun & Mercury in the 4th house, Cancer. Aside from the fact that he insists on staying home almost all the time, any comments?

Ok. Talking about these 2 positions, and these 2 positions alone..definitely an inwardly-focused person.

But it's also an angular house we're talking about, so never underestimate the power of these placements.

Sun in the 4th definitely means interest in 4th house matters-history, family, cultural background, and, generally speaking, anything that makes one's "roots".

Mercury in the 4th would give a good memory, and an emotionally-influenced mind. A mind with artistic sensitivities. Music is especially desired by those with this placement.

It can also mean that ur basic personality traits(Sun) and thought patterns and early mental impressions(Mercury) have marked u deeply and still make the basis of ur general personality and mental make-up.
There is a danger of being too influenced by early conditioning and the relationship to ur parents.

The danger is in taking on these traits from ur parents, without questioning them or IF they might even apply to ur particular innate traits and deepest needs and wants.

Well this comment is interesting in a good way interesting:

< Aside from the fact that he insists on staying home almost all the time, any comments? >

With your Sun and Mercury placement in the 4th you probably love your home a lot too and make it a comfortable and interesting place. You probably have a well kept and stimulating enviornment in which you live so staying home is no problem. Am I on course here. You probably like to have family and friends over for a good meal and enjoy conversations of all kinds. You probably like to talk about your family and maybe surround yourself w/various reading material. Depending on your actual rising sign you are either very quick and like to start many projects or you might be quite cozy and pay attention to the objects in your own enviornment. I have not looked at your chart though is it posted?

i have sun & mercury in my 4th house... a lot of what sandra has posted on this thread hits home. now the homebody part, well i think that has a lot to do with cancer's ruling. i have capricorn on the 4th house cusp & i am definitely not one who likes to sit home... i am constantly on the move & as a child my mother nicknamed me "the gypsy". but i also have 4th house sun/mercury/jupiter conjunction squaring 1st house uranus and a mutual reception with 4th house mercury & 9th house saturn :)

Cancer Sun, Mercury.... in the 4th.

He should have a good understanding personal issues. And really can relate towards one-on-one contact. Has a natural understanding on how emotions function, and naturally can help people be more comfortable with themselves, when he is comfortable in his own flesh.

Makes everyone he is around on his personal sphere.... (like my 11th house is Cancer... Friends def for me) relaxed.

Pisces Sun, Pisces Mercury, Aquarius Jupiter, all in the 4th. Yes, I work from home and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love being at home. And when I'm in the mood for it, I also love to throw awesome parties too....at my place of course. Being surrounded by books makes me feel good. I fantasize about having a big library with lots of books, the kind you see in old british movies.

Due to the placement and sign, he probably is way more comfortable at home than anywhere else. I have a Moon in Libra in 3H, and a Venus and Uranus conjuct in Sagittarius in the 5H which means I like to be sociable and go out.....
But my Sun, Pluto, Mercury, and Saturn are all conjuct in Scorpio in the 4H, which means I need a safe place to come home to to recharge.

I have Sun and Mercury in Sag in the 4th house... and although I *definitely* need to get out and do things to get out of the house, I can also spend a good deal of time just hanging around the house. "safe place to recharge" sounds like me, too. :)

i think it generally means that social contact needs to be emotionally and personally based ..not a person who's going to get a lot out of a
party or any other generally public environment

that's interesting ..because sag is one of the most out-going
of the signs ..house placements can have so much power
in determining the nature of a planet's expression in one's
own nature though, i've found ..i've learned to rarely think
much of what sign a person's planet is in without knowing
its house ..and i'm partial to the koch house system ..so,
anyway, that is interesting to me what you say of sag in the
4th House ..thank you for sharing that
