She got inspired. My favorite one featured a pair of deer with very human looking faces. They are from the side but their heads are turned to face the viewer and they look very concerned. The buck is looking back and the doe is looking right in the eyes of the viewer. Claire says they just heard gunshot. A very powerful picture.
She does line drawings all the time...always has. Periodically we get inspired to make them into coloring books, when we have a bunch done just in black pen that are copy worthy.
Homeschool gives us lots of time for art, which is priceless.

Re: Claire did so many cool drawings today
Fri, February 16, 2007 - 1:26 PMYour story about her drawing sort of reminded me of a Frida Kahlo painting. I love her paintings. I posted it on here so you could show her. Line drawings are great. They are my favorite way to meditate. A good art project to do with line drawings is to make them with a sharpie and fill in between the spaces with color. Watercolor makes a great way to fill in with color and since the sharpies are permanent and they will not blead.
It must be nice to have the freedom to do as much art with her as you can. I tend to actually be surprised by the number of my students who do art at home with their parents. It makes me sad when I find out there are children at home who don't even have crayons. -

Re: Claire did so many cool drawings today
Fri, February 16, 2007 - 11:04 PMyeah, it oughta be a crime not to have art materials for the kids to express themselves with...as bad as not having food and water and heat. I will go look at the Frida one now...
If I get a scanner or access to one I will post some of her drawings.
