Howdy,
I've lived in my twenty foot yurt for more than twelve years. After years of thinking about it, I'm close to graduating to a thirty footer. I want a sleeping loft. Can anyone share some experiences with a yurt with a loft?

Thu, January 3, 2008 - 10:26 PMYurts are plenty tight around the base (as tight as you make them, anyway.)
I thought I'd have a fieldmouse problem - but have yet to have a single mouse in the house... errr, yurt.
(no loft. sorry.) -

Fri, January 4, 2008 - 9:23 AMI never had trouble with mice until I got cats. They tend to find rodents outside and bring them in to play with them out of the rain. Sometimes, the mice escape and can't find their way out. -

Re: Long Time Yurt Dweller
Mon, January 21, 2008 - 11:38 PMHello Lars,
Yes, you ARE a long time yurt dweller. You probably know that you've had one of the most popular yurt sites online for years. People love being able to see the yurt set-up the way you have it laid out on your site.
I've linked to you from yurtinfo.org for years now. Thanks so much for the service you provided online in the earlier stages of the yurt movement! Thanks for being a yurt pioneer...
Re: lofts, I have a few loft images in my book "YURTS: Living in the Round" and I've been talking with people about their lofts for awhile. As far as I know at this point there are no loft plans in print or available online, but there is a demand for them and I'm trying to encourage folks with nice lofts to make up simple blueprint or drawings that I could make available on my site, just to give people a starting place. Lofts are a great way to go in a 30 footer.
I'm also updating my site and am planning to put a photo page on that is just yurt interiors and lofts. Hope the new design will be up in a few weeks, and then you'll be able to see some nice loft photos...
What are your loft questions?
Lovely to make your aquaintance, Lars. You can also contact me through yurtinfo.org.
Thanks again for your contribution to the yurt movement,
becky kemery
