Note: This is a tribe for people who want to make a GREEN REVOLUTION. . .if you are a cynic, a rightwinger, a whiner or a troll, this is not for you. . .there are plenty of other tribes you might try instead. Please note that if you are here to sow dissension, you will not remain with the tribe. This is an effort to bring together LIKE MINDED people, not to provide an open discussion by people of contradictory opinion.

Please read on. . .this tribe is not focused on ecological solutions, but on political solutions to our common problems. Of course the wholesale destruction of our ecosystem for the sake of corporate profits is a problem and all our solutions must be ecologically sustainable.

Inspired by the masses of Iranian people in the streets, trying to take back their country, I realized that we too need a Green Revolution. . .so I changed the name of the tribe.

What the Iranian people want is democratization and they are willing to fight for it. We need a similar non-violent revolution to make things work for the people in this country.

Of the People, by the People and For the People. . .

That is what we are supposed to have but not what we have got. .

The assumptions behind this tribe are that we need to fundamentally change the structure of society, both the political structure and the economic structure. First comes the democratic structuring of America so that the people will have the tools of democracy, not the elite and not the corporations.

All institutions in the society should serve the public good, whether governmental or commercial in form. If we truly believe in a government of the people, by the people and for the people we must recognize that no one should profit at the expense of the public good.

Further, we should all recognize that our own rational self interest will come about through cooperation with others, rather than the insanity of a winner-lose competitive paradigm which enriches and empowers a few and reduces and ruins the lives of others.

Participation in this tribe should mean that you are open to a form of socialism that is not remote or alienated from the members of the society, that more often comes from the bottom and not the top, and that you support citizen review of all major activities, such as resource extraction, power generation, major media, the police, health care, education and of course the government, etc.

If you are electing to participate in this tribe, you probably recognize that we will NEVER see change if we work within the two parties or attempt to fight the tide by supporting a third party. While there is much to be commended about the Green Party, as an example, they can never find signifcant success in this system, until it is restructured for power to the people, not the entrenched parties.

Now if you are a republican, libertarian, democratic centrist or anarchist, this is not the tribe for you. If you believe that the government can be of the people, by the people and for the people, and that is the way it should be, let's party!

Note: This is not about revolutionary violence or founding a new political party, but for discussions of strategy about how to transform the political, economic and social structure of this country. Issues, ideas, strategies, commentaries, news items. . .all are welcome in this tribe, as is humor and music.

Some of the primary tasks of a green revolution, apart from championing democratic structuralism of the political process, are working for clean water, clean air and pure food, restoration of wilderness, elimination of the toxic waste stream, single payer health care, non-intervention in the affairs of other nations by military or other aggressive means, community-based policing, high standard education, re-purposing of the nation's major banks as economic development banks, an end to usurious interest rates, sustainable agriculture, as well as others to be determined.
