anyone else a fan of yarn porn?? haha yes it exists! i laughed hysterically when i discovered the term in a stitch dictionary, and i laughed harder when i discovered what it means: high quality, close-up photographs of luxurious hand-painted yarns!! they spell it yarn pron so that people looking for the real thing won't wind up on a knitting site, frustrated and confused!! Does anyone else think it makes complete sense to drool over photographs of expensive yarn??

Mon, June 23, 2008 - 8:39 PMI realy am into feeling all the yarn. I rarely make anything that is washable and I appreciate all the expensive things. I have just recently been purchasing real cheap yarn for baby blankets. New mom's need clean, fast and washable. When I make things for myself, It's always for me first then I make it for others if I like the pattern. I always choose yummy feeling yarn.

I have zero budget for yarn, and usually make due with what I can find at the thrift store or from my vast stash. I let the yarn inspire me or dictate what pattern I choose. Sometimes it works out better that way and forces me to anticipate the drape, hook size etc. Most of the time however, it is a pain in the tush. -

a great site for yarn buyers on a budget is knitpicks.com,, mostly they have wools on sale (as low as 1.79 for 110 yards) but they also have some cotton & many blends.
