Has anyone sold anything via Etsy? I do mainly knitting, and some weaving, and was wondering if it would be a good holiday season outlet versus setting stuff out in stores or at shows.

It is astounding just how much stuff is out there! But, as a person who used to sell at shows and fairs for many years and stopped due to Asian Competition, I am not sure if it's a great idea. So many folks who make things undersell their work, and I am not interested in giving away my time! -

Sun, September 9, 2007 - 10:30 PMI have sold a couple things there. Have only been on a short time, and not through the holiday seasons. The key is posting things on a regular basis. But just because you have posted something on etsy does not mean you can't try to sell them at another venue too. If you sell them, then just delete them from etsy. You are only out 20 cents.

What I did was checked out similar items I'm selling in my store to compare not only prices, but what was actually selling. You can see what people have sold in the past by clicking on their "feedback" link. It will give you a list of everyone's comments about the seller along with a picture and description of what was sold to each buyer. Unfortunately, the price paid for the item is not included, but you can still tell alot. Let us know when you open your store!
